Overview

About the property

Upstairs 1 bedroom, 1.5 bath apartment, spectacular mtn/valley/riverview

The Hummingbird's Nest - the best nest in the Northwest!

Not only a special treat for you, but also a special treat for the birds. A portion of the proceeds from your rental will go to feed and care for the nearly 20-something Hummingbirds that reside on the property. This requires year-round care for our feathered friends. They thank you from the bottom of their sweet little beaks! <3

PRIVATE, QUIET AND LUXURIOUS

Private, separate 1 bedroom, 1.5 bath apartment (upstairs over storage garage) provides all of the comforts of home. Located on 2 acres of homeowner's estate (owners live in separate house next door), this spacious 700 sq foot apartment perches high above the Snohomish valley overlooking the Cascade Mountain range and the Snohomish River.

WHEN TO COME:

Anytime is a great time to visit Snohomish!

*Spring: The tulips and daffodils are popping up, the trees are budding, the air is crisp and clean and the frogs are croaking their little heads off! Temperatures are generally in the 40's and 50's during the day, and sometimes into the 60's!

*Summer: It's usually not too hot in Snohomish in the summertime, but just right. Temperatures are typically in the 70's and 80's with those longggg northern days and beautiful star-filled nights. And the cottage is AIR CONDITIONED just in case we have those warm days :-)

*Fall: My favorite time of year here! The trees are showing off, the air is crisp, the migrating Trumpeter Swans are here having their babies, Bald Eagles circle overhead, nd the valley is full of corn farms and pumpkin patches!

*Winter: This area doesn't typically get snow, but we can have some freezing temperatures and occasional snow. The Cascade mountains to the East seem to pop in the morning as the sun rises and the stars shine brightly on the clear cold nights. If you are not used to driving in ice and snow, we must caution you that if we have that sort of weather, our driveway is long and steep so you may want to rent a 4-wheel drive, or come in another season.

About John & Laura Bowyer

Homeowner's John and Laura have lived on this property since 2001. The cottage was built in 2006 as a home-based office and was converted to this cozy vacation rental in 2014.

John & Laura Bowyer purchased this cottage in 2001

Why John & Laura Bowyer chose Puget Sound North

We've lived in the Snohomish area since 1989 and have loved every minute of it. It's close to Seattle, Canada, the San Juan Islands and yet in the country away from it all.

What makes this cottage unique

The lush 2 acres with fruit trees, eagles, hummingbird's aplenty, occasional deer, frogs croaking and many birds allows travelers to reconnect with nature.

Guestbook comments from the owner

John and Laura were amazing hosts! We were there to meet my newly found brother for the first time and wanted to stay in a place that felt like our Colorado home, relaxing, calm, quiet, and beautiful. The cottage was breathtakingly beautiful along with the views, just gorgeous! Our flight didn't land until 12am and had a late/early arrival. John and Laura were extremely accommodating and they even filled the fridge with breakfast items for the following morning. When we travel back to Snohomish again we will 100% be staying at this location again. Great people, great views, beautiful piece of property, very clean, up to date appliances, very comfortable bed, cozy, and close to town. All around we highly recommend staying at this location!!!!

Amazing and Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Laura and John are absolute dears!

The location is close to town but far enough away to truly have some peace and quiet with a beautiful view over coffee in the morning.

Kitchen was well stocked, everything was clean and comfy, truly felt like a home away from home.

Would absolutely stay again...

Thanks for everything!

Thoughtfully designed and decorated with guests in mind. A beautiful retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a weekend at the Nest and enjoyed it immensely. The home is beautiful; a comfortable space upstairs with a lovely view, top shelf furnishings and decor, plenty of homey touches, and anything you could need for a short or long stay. We travel quite a bit, so it's always nice to find a spot where the owners have spent the time to create such a welcoming place for travelers. We wanted to stay longer!

Though we didn't cook while there, the kitchen is well stocked with quality utensils and plenty of basics.

The bed is so comfortable, and the linens are exquisite.

The WIFI was speedy, and there were plenty of entertainment options if you chose to watch TV or movies.

All in all, there isn't anything I can think of that we would have wanted or needed during our stay. Laura and John were friendly and available, but respected our privacy.

We highly recomment the Hummingbird Nest and would definitely return on another visit to Snohomish.

Lovely retreat with a stellar view

  • 5 of 5

We had a restful few days at The Hummingbird's Nest, using is as home base while we explored the area and attended a concert locally. Laura and John have thought of every detail to provide for the comfort of their guests. The suite is spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and has a serene valley view. And the bed is SO comfortable! We were able to recharge our batteries and return home refreshed. Laura and John are warm and welcoming, and they respect the privacy of their guests. They truly went the second mile, generously sharing an itinerary of a Scotland trip they'd enjoyed to help us prepare for a holiday next year. Hummingbird's Nest will be our accommodation of choice whenever we're back this way!
