One of the best homes we have rented. Great overall experience and the hot tub was great! Everything we wanted and more! Highly recommend.
Have stayed at over 30 VRBO’s - this is the only home to which we would NOT return. NOT a castle.
My family of 3 has stayed at over 30 VRBO’s in the last 4 years. We take reviews quite seriously. This review is about the 77 nights we spent here. Where to begin? The description of a “castle” on a hill is quite misleading. You are forced to share one small recycling bin, one very small trash bin AND mail box with the homeowners. They quickly fill, leaving you to store trash in the garage. They BRING your mail to the house as the mail box is locked & a key is refused. The homeowners live directly behind this VRBO house, partially sharing the same back yard. They store their seasonal items in an outdoor basement, accessing when wanted. The backyard is used by their dog who comes over to pee/poop. The hot tub has no privacy. The backyard, while appearing completely fenced in photos, is not fenced b/c of a neighbor dispute. Our dogs had to be leashed the entire time. The next-door neighbors are NOT pet-friendly & quite verbal. The garage cannot be used for cars since the owners store personal items. There were holes in table cloths and sheets, stained towels, broken kitchen trash can, loose thresholds, burned out light bulbs, loose deck & stair railings, the refrigerator’s water filter indicated “replace” from the first day. The kitchen is not stocked with basic cooking utensils. When asked about utensils, the homeowner brought over a few of her “seconds” & instructed me to buy other things & she would reimburse me, which she did. The master bedroom had stained carpeting, a broken fireplace, ceiling fan, light & a dripping faucet. The homeowner said he could come on Sunday afternoons to fix “___” - he works off island. They have no one to maintain the house or the yard. The entire property is in very serious need of attention…and not at all pretty. The advertised high-speed Wi-Fi was wired behind the stove in the kitchen, six inches from the side of the gas stove! The speed? Dismally slow. We operate a home-based internet business. We were forced to rent another house for 10 days to work. Three other aspects of this ‘castle’ which destroy any idyllic peace. 1: A joint military base located across from Anderson Island regularly holds both day & night heavy artillery, bombings & controlled burns. 2: A train that crosses the Steilacoom ferry landing sounds its whistle & can be heard at the house. 3: Nearby McNeil Island is a US prison center for violent sexual convicts. Of all the VRBO home’s we've stayed, this is the only home we would not return.
This review is false slander of our property. The Tenant lied to us and brought two dogs to the property without paying any pet deposit. Our home was trashed by them. Two of our rooms with carpet destroyed from pet urine and stains. The carpet and padding had to be replaced. We did everything to make there stay a pleasant experience. This is a beautiful property and is in great condition. Just read previous reviews. Owners be aware of these tenants!!!!
What a beautiful home!
We spent the entire Thanksgiving week at this house and it was lovely. Shane was very gracious about seeing if there was anything we needed. We had a brand new baby with us (Great grandson) and all the bedrooms were large enough to handle all the things that come along with a baby. Every room in the house is bright and cheery. My only regret was that there weren't quite enough serving bowls for a big dinner. We managed to handle it though. I would love to spend another week there sometime. If you stay on the island, be sure and shop on the mainland before you get there. The small grocery store is VERY expensive and doesn't carry a lot of stuff. The restaurant at the Golf Course is fabulous and right on a small lake, so the view is very nice.
I always love the relaxing Island pace of Anderson Island. This home on the island was a wonderful way to relax and enjoy the long weekend in secluded comfort. Very clean, well stocked, and comfortable. Highly recommend
The property is well kept in a park like setting. The house is very well laid out with everything that is needed. There is a large laundry room, pantry, two living rooms, an open kitchen, a dining room, three bathrooms,a huge master bedroom, and 3 bedrooms. There is a jetted bath in the Master Bedroom,a hot tub outside and a porch on three levels on the backside of house. We had three Grandchildren with us.We visited a local museum and inquired about things to do.We took a hike to Oro Bay,we visted Lowell Johnson Park and spent several hours there each time.It is a public access park with picnic tables and grated fire areas for cooking.oh and it has access for swimming with floats to dive off of.and a completely enclosed dock for little swimmers. Our last day we spent several hours on the beach just south of the Ferry Landing.Much of The Island is private property that is why you need to ask locals about public access areas. We had no problem finding things to do.We spent one day in Tacoma visiting The Aquarium and Zoo.We enjoyed our stay and have already been thinking of coming back again.
Welcoming and clean and private
We had a really nice vacation and the house was bigger than I had thought. I would recommend this home!
