This property is the perfect get away. We have been here for 50 years and love every minute of it. Once you get a chance to stay here you will love it too.

Baker's Point feature this rental(Eagles Nest) which is a year round guest house. Baker's point also features a summer home(Heritage-sleeps 8) which can be booked separately.

Eagles Nest is a year round home which is ideal to sleep 4, 6 with our fantastic never flat portable mattress. And 7 if you also use the couch. It has two bedrooms. The Master includes a king sized bed, lake view and access to the deck overlooking the water and a huge yard. The second bedroom includes a Queen sized bed. Living Room includes a beautiful fireplace and also overlooks the water and opens to the deck. Kitchen has new appliances, new pots, pans, and cutlery. The full bath is just like the rest of the house, Very New! Eagle's Nest is available year round.

(Heritage Cottage is also available for rent but is not part of this rental is as follows:) https://www.vrbo.com/755499

Heritage Cottage which sleeps 8 is a slice of history. This recently refurbished 150 year old landmark is the oldest cottage on the lake. The main cabin was pulled across the the ice around 1860 and placed atop the hill on Baker Point overlooking the lake. Nestled among the pines the lumber jacks picked this beautiful site for good reason. The Captains Quarters includes a queen bed and a day bed for a child. The Common Quarters is one large room with 2 queen beds and 2 twin beds. This summer home is shut down every winter and is not available in the cold season. This rental comes with the use of a canoe.

Baker's Point has a private Beach with huge yard and fire pit.

Includes HDTVs in both houses, Wifi, and use of the dock, fishing boat, paddle boat, 2 kayaks and a canoe.

Extremely peaceful yet only a mile by road and 1/3rd mile by boat to Taverns, Dairy Queen, Coffee Shop, Groceries, gas station and Public Beach with Playground.

What I personally consider one of the best parts, there is a different sunset every day. Take a look at couple in the photos.

You can also enjoy:

- Free public boat landing

- Free public Tennis, Volleyball, Basketball Courts and small Skate Park

- Three local Golf courses: Norwood Golf Course, Bottens Green Acres, and Poplar Golf Course

- Local Restaurants and Taverns

- The Brule River for Canoeing, Kayaking or Fishing only 10 minutes away.

- Swimming Amnicon Falls State Park only 15 minutes away.

About Todd Baker

Our family has been on the lake for more than a hundred years. I have been on this property for 50 years even though I'm still only 39 year old. That's pretty amazing in itself!

NOTE- to avoid any confusion the boat in the photo is our family boat and is not part of the rental.

Todd Baker purchased this cottage in 1967

Why Todd Baker chose Northwest

This property is the site of the oldest cabin on the lake. The old cabin is still on the property. It was build by the original lumberjacks at the old sawmill which was located across the lake where the boys camp is today. More than a 150 years ago it was pulled across the ice during the winter and placed on this property. Even the lumber jacks new that this was the best property on the lake. When you start using the lake you will see why. Baker Point has a sand bar less than 4 feet deep which runs several hundred feet straight out from shore. On both sides of this point there are gradual drop-offs. This makes for the perfect spot for fishing as well as swimming and learning to ski for young children.

Comfortable, relaxing getaway on a gorgeous lake

  • 5 of 5

We went up in a group of four with two of us running in Grandma's Marathon in Duluth over a long weekend getaway. This was the PERFECT space to stay and be comfortable and relaxed, yet still close enough to stop at the bigger stores on the way in for food and to drive in to catch the train for the start of the race.

The property is well appointed, the beds are comfortable, and we were able to make excellent use of the kitchen for all of our meals without issue. It was peaceful and lovely to sit on the balcony at all times of day looking out over the property and through the trees to the lake. Though the neighbors aren't far on either side, the trees keep it fairly private except for the other house on the same property. And even with two sets of people staying in the other house while we were at Eagle's Nest, the other renters were friendly and we never had any issues with sharing space; they're far enough apart that the only interaction you need have is if you both want to use the fire pit or just a wave and a smile if they're outside when you're on your way to the dock.

That brings me to my favorite part of our stay, the boats. We ended up not using the kayaks but we definitely took full advantage of the fishing boat with motor to go exploring all around the lake in all the nooks and crannies, taking in the interesting houses and stunning scenery. I also highly recommend either swimming or taking the boat directly across the lake to the Dairy Queen in town if it's that kind of weather. :)

Todd, the owner, is fantastically responsive to questions and concerns, and is clearly both experienced with renting out his property, and familiar with many of the issues that can crop up with this type of rental. His experience allows him to do everything in his power to preemptively avoid issues and provide the most pleasant and hassle free stay possible.

If we ever come back to this area, for marathoning or otherwise, we will definitely be staying here. Thank you so much, Todd!

The Eagle's Nest is everything it said it would be. All the creature comforts and more.

  • 5 of 5

Hiking, biking, fishing kayaking, canoeing and more. Caught fish every night, which made for some delicious meals. Our second day there was a bit rainy so we ventured into Superior and wound up at the Anchor Inn for lunch. Their burgers are everything they say they are. Our last day was perfect and made for some good lake activities. Definitely recommended for a relaxing stay with the opportunity to be as active as you want.

Wonderful Easter Weekend!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this property over Easter weekend. We found the property very clean and welcoming. It had everything we needed. We are originally from the Lake Nebagamon area and actually hosted our family Easter dinner at the property. There was ample room for everyone. It was a cold rainy weekend and everyone was inside. Would love to rent in the summer to enjoy the lake!

This was our second stay at this home and it was again wonderful. Everything is in place and ready to go. Todd and Barbie do an excellent job. So nice to be able to count on coming here and having no surprises.

Comfy

  • 4 of 5

Enjoyed a nice fall weekend at the Eagles Nest. No wasted space in the main living and kitchen/dining area. Worked great to have our kids wrapped around the counter at meal time. While cozy, the beautiful vaulted ceiling makes it feel bigger than it is. Bedrooms are small but serve their purpose.

Very nice deck overlooking the back yard, but views of the lake are tough from what would be a near perfect vantage point. Trees at the waters edge keep me from giving the property the fifth star, but some may actually enjoy the privacy it creates as well.

Nice dock area and having the boats on site is a huge plus. We didn't use the power boat (though the kids begged) but our two oldest spent a lot of Saturday afternoon in the kayaks.

Only other con to mention is that laundry isn't the most convenient, especially at night. But it it is still way better than a laundry mat or coin machines at a hotel.

Convenience to Duluth area is another major plus. We would definitely stay again in the future.

Clean, inviting and well stocked.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great experience staying on Lake Nebagamon at this property. It was everything as advertised and there were no bad surprises. Will come back to the same place again. Quiet and restful and yet so close to Superior and Duluth. Best of both worlds. Thank you Todd and Barbie!
