Loved it!

My husband and I stayed for three nights and loved it! Once at Camp Amnicon, you really don’t need to go anywhere else during your trip. It has hiking trails, an amazing beach along Lake Superior where we found lots of sea glass and pretty drift wood, the coziest private cabin, and a nice private fire pit right outside the cabin. Their saying of “it has everything you need and nothing you don’t” is exactly right.

Beautiful little cabin in the woods

It was a lovely experience. The cabin is set back from the main property just enough to have some privacy, but still have access to showers and firewood in just a few minutes walking. I really enjoyed the cabin itself, with just enough furniture and kitchen items, without it being too crowded.

Loved it

So quiet, peaceful and well supplied cabin! Cozy and sweet. Loved the little library of Sherlock Holmes and xkcd books. Excellent thermostat for the cabin and for the outhouse. Great walk to the beaches too. Thank you!

Private spot

Can’t give hosts credit for the weather but it made the hiking on their trails lovely. Outhouse was close enough to cabin to make it very convenient. Had Sunset cabin farthest from entrance and appreciated the privacy.

Peaceful escape

I came up for a night with my dog. We had a beautiful night of sleep listening to the rain in the trees. We were up early to take a walk down to Lake Superior and greeted with such a beautiful beach full of sticks (my dogs most favorite thing) … the waves were crashing and it was windy but the water was warm and we enjoyed coffee and walks along the beach. I’ll definitely return so I can spend more time there

Its good. Managers may want to let people know you need to drive down five miles of not-so-great gravel road.

Very rustic retreat with lots of walking

I loved the cabin but not the walk for unloading. The fire pit was so full of ashes I wasn’t able to start a fire in there. When I asked if they had a shovel they said yes that was on our list to be done. I waited and they never came back so I used the snow shovel and dug it out best I could. . The short walk to the beach wasn’t as short as I expected so I never made it there. Road into Camp was treacherous and a bit dangerous. Today when I left they were grading it so that helped. I was hoping for some internet but they said it wasn’t for guests so not sure how I was supposed to get ahold of people or Verbo to ask questions. If I was younger I would love it here more. That being said I did enjoy myself and left feeling at peace. The few people I encountered were very nice. Thanks for the stay.

Amnicon was great! They think of everything to make your stay perfect. Sunset was so cute and absolutely perfect for a weekend away. Even though there were other people staying on the property I felt secluded and as if I had the place to myself. I highly recommend Amnicon and look forward to coming back again in the future.

comfortable & peaceful

Wonderful property - my extended family rented all 6 cabins for a few nights after a wedding. Cabins are clean and comfortable, property is beautiful, staff is super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed campfires every night and paddling on the river and swimming in the lake.

Nice little cabin

I love that sunset is the farthest cabin, if you want privacy it’s just a short walk from the main area but it’s a bit more secluded. The cabin is set up nicely and the bed is super comfortable. The cabin holds a lot of heat so don’t worry about getting cold, they do have extra blankets and an extra electric heater if you need it. The out house was clean and probably 6 feet from the cabin itself, there’s an outside light that lights everything up nicely if you have to go at night. The heater in the outhouse was awesome! I love that it was unlocked and the fire wood is a help yourself situation so we didn’t have to worry about meeting anyone to get a key or let us in. There is drinking water in the cabin and a microwave, toaster oven, and hot plate and a small variety of essential utensils and dishes. All in good condition. The cabin itself was very clean and well kept. It’s a short drive to amnicon falls state park and the camp also has several trails to explore. The camp is at the end of a 5 mile dirt road so no one is hanging around that shouldn’t be there. Overall this was a wonderful place to stay! Definitely would come back!

Quiet cabin in the woods

It was 3 great days, being quiet but active. going between hiking and table games and cards. The lake pulled us back to its shores at least 3 times. and the light when we woke up was special. The trip to the out house gave me a star show that I had not seen since my last BWCAW trip. We both enjoyed are time and was glad to have a full day friday, even though we need to be home for Saturday morning.

A week in April at Camp Amnicon

We were happy to get the cabin at Camp Amnicon and had no problems during our stay. It is the off season and the weather was cool and we had a couple of rainy spells, but we hiked and watched birds each day in spite of the weather. Hiking to the Lake Superior beach was enjoyable. We had no problem carting our gear in to the "walk in" cabin. Numerous hikes, state parks, and birdwatching sites are a short drive away. Birdwatching from the cabin was productive and interesting. We hope to visit Camp Amnicon again during the off-season. I really appreciate the walk-in cabins and the distance from the highway. You can hear the breeze, birds, and distant surf of Lake Superior...the peaceful sounds of Nature.

Just as good a second time around!

This was our second stay at Camp Amnicon. We stayed in Quietude last year, but booked Sunset this year because the three new ones weren’t available. It was great!! We think we might like sunset/sunrise better because they feel much more private, and we didn’t need the bigger space of the newer cabins. So cozy - we love the fireplace!

Nice retreat

It was so peaceful and quiet. A nice place to rest. One suggestion would be to have a curtain between the bathroom and shower area to allow for some privacy.

Perfect getaway in the woods!

The cabin was just as described, set back on the property a perfect distance from others. The outhouse was clean. The trail to the lake was a nice little easy hike and the beach was amazingly beautiful. The river flowing into Superior was really cool to see. The Porcupine Trail from the lake back to the lodge was a good, more difficult hike. The amenities were great, the communication was great, and our trip was just fantastic! Thank you. We'll be back!

Cozy on Lake Superior

We road our motorcycles into camp. It was a cute cabin, nice and toasty gas fireplace. There were showers available in the main lodge building. We walked from the cabin down to the beach for a lovely sunset. The trail was wet and mosquitoes plenty but part of the wilderness experience. Once you get to the beach then bugs aren't a problem.

99% of the year, our site is quiet and serene.
