Overview

About the property

100 Acre Private Forest Property Featuring A Secluded Creek-Side Cabin!

Just 15 min. from Letchworth Park, Cabin Creek Getaway features a secluded, rustic cabin right next to a cascading stream! With 100 acres of private forest, trails, and abundant wildlife, you can get away from it all, and be alone with just the people you enjoy spending time with!

THE SPACE:

The space is 100 Acres of private forest! Guests can bring a tent, RV, or... stay in our beautiful, rustic cabin!

The beautiful, knotty-pine cabin is off the grid, with options for rustic living or modern conveniences. Oil lamps give off a nostalgic, old-fashioned glow on the knotty pine walls, but solar power also provides convenient 12 volt electricity for lighting (and recharging your electronics!).

An old-time, natural heating wood stove turns the coldest of winter evenings comfortably cozy, but the LP gas furnace offers another convenient option.

Cabin Creek feels like stepping back in time with your favorite people, but with the comforts of an indoor composting toilet, hot showering, and 1/2 size refrigerator powered by LP gas!

Bath, body wash & shampoo, percolating coffee pot, fully equipped kitchen, firewood, and a small library of outdoor & self-sufficiency books provided.

We encourage and prefer our guests to bring your own bedding, but bedding is available at $15/bed, payable on arrival. Please let us know if you are requesting bedding.

Note: December 1 - March 31 is our Dry Cabin-Camp Shower Season. Due to our exposed plumbing, there is no running water available inside the cabin. Water is brought in for you, with dispensers provided in both the kitchen and bathroom. A camp shower is provided in the bathroom, and with water heated from the stove, hot showering is still available. Our composting toilet remains unaffected by winter weather.

GUEST ACCESS:

During the winter season, we maintain the road leading to the cabin, so no matter how deep the snow gets, you can drive right in to the secluded site! Our snow removal is provided compliments of John Deere!

Our guests enjoy relaxing so many different ways here: Inside the the beautiful knotty-pine cabin, visiting out on the large covered deck, sitting in front of blazing camp fires with wood provided, exploring along the half mile of cascading creek & waterfalls, getting out on miles of hiking trails, and seeing the abundant wildlife - 100 acres all to yourself! Adventurers will enjoy going down the 100' climbing rope to view the hidden water falls... the only way to find them!

INTERACTION WITH GUESTS:

Upon arrival, guests will be greeted for an orientation to the cabin, the property, and attractions in the surrounding area, which include Letchworth State Park (The Grand Canyon of the East). Housekeeping service comes once a day at a mutually convenient time. Just a quarter mile away, we are always available to respond to the needs of guests. Only one guest party is allowed at the property at any time, so it's yours to enjoy exclusively!

THE NEIGHBORHOOD:

The very best thing about the neighborhood is that there are no neighbors! The cabin is situated off a seasonal use road, right at the mouth of Cabin Creek ravine. Aside from the occasional vehicle traveling the road, you won't see or hear anyone who is not in your party!

We deliver a wonderful experience in a rugged area that is sparsely populated and seldom traveled.

We like to joke that the Cabin Creek night-life is dominated by the wildlife... but that's no joke! In addition to the ever-present squirrels, chip monks & racoon, it is very common to see deer and wild turkey in our forest. The yipping-howls of coyotes are commonly heard after dark while guests sit around the campfire, and seldom-seen bobcats can be heard calling in the night several times a year. Very rare pine martin have been spotted on the property, along with bald eagles & great horned owls. Bears do frequent our area, coming from the 7,700 acre wildlife management area across the valley. Believe us or not, during the 2015 deer season, an Eastern Timber Wolf was observed as it passed by 2 different tree stands, judging by its extreme size and near-black color (later one January night, long, low howls were heard along the base of the ridge. Definitely not coyotes!). So if you're looking for an experience in a wild area... this is as wild as it gets in the entire Northeast!

FUN ACTIVITIES:

100 foot climbing rope descending to hidden water falls (On your own).

.22 caliber handgun & rifle instruction & target shooting by appointment.

Canoe rentals & river float trips by appointment.

Guided hikes/mountain biking to beaver ponds & hanging bog by appointment.

Hot Air Ballooning over Letchworth Park (Outside Vendor)

White Water Rafting in Letchworth Park (Outside Vendor)

Fishing at Nearby Wildlife Management Area (On your own).

IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE:

Location! Location! The cabin is within an easy twenty minute drive to so many great attractions: Letchworth State Park (Grand Canyon of the East), Stony Brook State Park, Swain Mountain Ski Resort, The Mount Morris Dam, and 7,000 acres of State Wildlife Management Area. Wine country tours start within an easy 40 minute drive, and Niagara Falls is a little over an hour and a half away!

GETTING AROUND:

Cabin Creek is in a rural area. Guests will need their own vehicle to get from the cabin to state route 70, from which all area attractions are easily accessed.

About Terry Peck

We are a professional couple who enjoy many different outdoor activities: hunting, photography, hiking, camping, ATV riding, horse riding, and observing wildlife. We enjoy God's creation, and feel so blessed to be living in this beautiful area, and we enjoy sharing it with others.

Terry Peck purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Terry Peck chose Dalton

We purchased the property for its proximity to our home, excellent Deer & Wild Turkey Hunting, cascading stream, and the peacefulness of the deep woods. The land offers us the opportunity to enjoy everything we love to do outdoors, and staying in the cabin makes 'camping out' as enjoyable as it gets! We love it!

What makes this cabin unique

100 acres of forest that you don't have to share with anyone outside your party... need we say more? Cabin Creek Getaway really is a place nearby, that takes you far away! The peacefulness of the deep woods, the sound of the water going over the falls in the creek, the breeze blowing through the trees, and all the natural beauty... it has a way of soaking in, and melting away all the stress we accumulate from our busy lives, It works for us, and we know it will work for you too!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Harry and his friends are very personable. If any person is the average of their friends, then these guys are far above the average. They took excellent care of our property and cabin, and did a marvelous job of cleaning before they left! When they were introduced to operating the wood stove and oil lamps, they paid attention, and quickly became adept. They are also young professionals who are very likable, and it's easy to see why they enjoy each others' company. We enjoyed getting to know them! We sincerely hope to see them return to Cabin Creek Getaway in the future!

Beautiful private and wooded property with a clean and well built cabin

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four and a friend slept comfortably in this wonderful cabin about an hours drive from Buffalo, N.Y. Although we were not too far from the main road in Dalton N.Y. we felt very secluded on the 100 acre wooded property. The cabin it self was very comfortable, clean and in excellent overall shape. Other than the modern solar lighting and propane for heating and cooking, we enjoyed living in simplicity with games and kerosene lanterns. The property itself is very beautiful with well maintained trails that were fun to hike.

Thanks Dave and Terry for providing a very nice place to let people enjoy, we will be back!

Awesome Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great experience in this cabin taking our 2 young grand-daughters. They loved the small stream that runs through the back and looking for wood and walking sticks in the woods. The cabin is beautiful inside and very comfortable. We didn't meet Terry but Dave was a great guy(thanks for the ride) We will be back.

Owner's Response: From the moment Paul stepped out of his vehicle, it was easy to see he was a real ball buster and lots of fun! He & his wife brought their 2 young grand daughters to enjoy some time away in our private forest. Paul wanted to see some points of interest on our property (Hidden Waterfalls, Summit w/25 mile view, and our Bear Viewing Station), so he and Dave took off on a 4-wheeler. But once they got to the top of the ridge, they went on some dirt roads for another 10-12 miles until well after dark. His poor wife was probably wondering if he was ever coming back! We had a great time with Paul, and look forward to seeing him again! Dave & Terry

Owner's Response: There are lots of things to get excited about here at Cabin Creek, but Nakry is so right about our deer in the soy bean field just below the cabin! You can see 15-20 deer each evening, and it's so much fun to watch the bucks grow their antlers. Two of them in particular are huge! Although only 8-Pointers, their racks have grown tall & wide! While most people watch the evening news on TV, we grab the binoculars, go out on the porch, and enjoy watching the wildlife! The next time you and your family are ready to come Nakry, we'll be here for you, and so will all the deer! David & Terry

Owner's Response: In a world full of things clamoring for our attention, it really is wonderful to be be able to come to the Cabin Creek forest and just be alone here! So glad Erin got to enjoy it! The privacy of a 100 Acre Private Forest offers something else too... The woods here are simply peaceful all the time, and it just feels good to let that peace sink in! It'll still be here the next time you want to get away Erin! Come again any time! David & Terry

Secluded, beautiful, well equipped, like home

  • 5 of 5

Terry and David are the most friendly and hospitable guests you can think of. We felt at home. The cabins is very well equipped and nicely decorated. It's also very clean. Before going I was a little worried about the freight line that was mentioned in some of the reviews but it didn't bother us at all and it gave a country feel to the cabin. I can't say enough good things about this cabin and the hosts. We also tried venison meat. Thank you David and Terry for such a great stay.

Owner's Response: Fae & her family were very interesting to meet, and we enjoyed learning about their homeland in Iran from Fae's parents. Even they way "Iran" is pronounced by a true native has such a soft & beautiful sound to it! It's been 10 years since they've been able to see each other, so we are so glad Cabin Creek became part of their visit to the United States! Fae's Dad was interested in all the deer we have roaming around our farm & property, so when we told him venison was mighty tasty, they were anxious to enjoy some! Come again any time Fae! You and your family will always be welcome here! David & Terry

A great getaway! I would recommend it to everyone.

  • 5 of 5

We all LOVED the cabin and enjoyed the solitude and the privacy. We had everything we needed. NO COMPUTERS AND NO TV! We spent our time talking and laughing together, playing board games, hiking in the woods, and exploring all the nearby parks. We spent every night around the campfire and were amazed at how vivid the stars were. The cabin always stayed cool at night so sleeping was comfortable. We enjoyed rafting down the river at Letchworth State Park and extremely enjoyed swimming under the falls at nearby Stony Brook Park. It was a great experience for all of us. It is a great getaway that ironically provides a great "get together". Loved it!

Owner's Response: Christine & her family were absolutely fun to meet & get to know! We're glad so glad the cabin & property gave them some special time away to just reconnect with one another. We just enjoyed some "Cabin Time" with family & friends up there too, and are still thinking back to the time we spent together with great fondness... glad you are too Christine! Come again any time!
