About The Owner

Bob and I (Peg) are a clean, neat, professional, energetic, fun loving couple who enjoy hiking high peaks, traveling and meeting new friends. We do not watch TV on a regular basis. We prefer pursing our passions - which include all sorts of travel, adventure and exploring new areas. We benefit from sitting on our deck with a drink in the Summer; or sitting in front of the inside fireplace in the Winter.

Bob owns his own business, The Opportunity Group. He's an Organizational Coach, where he transforms Managers into Leaders. He also writes romance/mystery novels [samples at the townhouse]. Peg is in charge of Stakeholder Services at the Opportunity Group, and volunteers at the local hospice.

For readers, you may find it interesting to note that much of Bob's Fantasy/Romance novel; JOURNEY, The Love Story of the Century, Part II was written in the cabin. Pictures of the trail from the cabin also appear in Part II. When you sit by the campfire, you will be sharing the same view that inspired some pretty interesting stories. The books may be found on Amazon. To find the books, Google 'Catlan Samuels Journey' (that is Bob's pen name). Part III of the trilogy is under way.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2010

Why The Owner chose Finger Lakes

We very much enjoy the woods and getting off the grid as much as our busy schedules will allow.

When we are not there, we love to share the cabin with guests, who have a passion for peacefulness, birds, woods, nature and non-human noises.

Even though you are 20 minutes away from most anything, yet you feel like you are in the middle of no where.

Inside the cabin, being surrounded by knotty pine, is almost like camping outside with the luxury of a hot shower at your fingertips.

The easy forest trails allow for a casual back to nature experience, or for the more experienced hiker, the 5 mile hike around the block might suit your needs.

What makes this cabin unique

Cozy Cabin is the perfect spot for couples who want a completely secluded, romantic getaway where no one will find them, but it's also great for families who want to enjoy a woods experience with modern amenities! When guests are ready to come out of the forest, there is so much to see and do all within 15-20 minutes: Letchworth State Park, Stonybrook State Park, Swain Mountain Ski Resort, the Mount Morris Dam, and 7,700 acres of NYS Wildlife Management/wilderness Area to explore! Six Flags Darien Lake is 45 minutes away, and Niagara Falls is just over an hour and a half drive!

My girlfriend and I loved our stay.

Dear Bob and Peg, thankyou so much, our stay at the cabin was wonderful, we talked, we walked, and of course we ate. The Birdsall inn was all you said it was had a wonderful dinner and a warm bonfire after, we will definitely be back next year.

Owner's Response: We are so glad Jeri chose Cozy Cabin in the Woods to unplug from her busy life. You can't get much more of a contrast than when you come out here. When you're letting the peace & quiet of the forest soak in, who cares what time it is! Jeri and Barb were delightful women, took great care of our property, left the cabin in very clean condition, and we will gladly welcome them back for a return visit!

Cozy Comfort

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is nice and comfortable. Good cell phone reception. Very pleasant visit. Couldn't take advantage of the nice trails, (they were wet). Enjoyed coffee on the porch in the a.m. We would like to return.

There are couple of creature comfort improvements that would be nice.

1) More comfortable stools around the island would better for us older humans.

2) Larger counter top for the bath room sink area.

3) Grab bars in the shower; safer for us older humans.

4) Flag protocol. U.S. flag belongs on the left of any structure as one faces the structure or

stage, (check with google).

5) Didn't locate the compost barrel near the turn around.

6) Didn't appreciate a knock on the door from Cliff, saying he delivered the wood and tractor.

7) The foam 2 inch pad, first floor bed, got to warm to sleep on.

8) Had to vacuum the pad cover sheet. Hairs and other things on pad cover.

9) Refrigerator runs very frequent and audible during the night hours. Doors were closed on

the refrigerator, we checked.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback Bruce. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know how you feel. Our response to your improvements are below: 1) We have thought about larger stools with backs, but they take up too much room and would prevent entire families from gathering at the same time. We endorse family togetherness. The leather recliner, futon and padded porch chairs are most often enough options. 2) There is an added stand next to the bathroom sink for items which supplies plenty of room. 3) Our cabin is not advertised as being handicapped accessible. The 3” threshold as well as the two seats in the shower are easily accessible for all ages. 4) We are assuming that you are a Veteran, and we thank you for your service. Our builder put the down spout on the left side, therefore forcing us to mount the flag on the right side. We figured it was better than no flag. 5) The compost barrel is about 15’ past the turnaround. To make it easier for guests to find, we have recently added a sign with an arrow pointing to where the compost barrel is located. 6) We have a wonderful and dedicated team to help us with the cabin rentals!! Without our engaged team, guests would not have the same experience. A big THANK YOU to Cliff for explaining to you why he was there. 7) Yes, the 2’ pad gives just the right amount of support and comfort to give you a good night sleep. Using the floor fan or opening the bedroom window can easily give you the right amount of ventilation and the right temperature required. 8) Many of our guests bring fluffy fleece comforters, which tend to shed. We vacuum after every stay. 9) Closing the bedroom door eliminates any of the kitchen noises. Many of our guests have appreciated our full size appliances which makes for a comfortable stay. Bruce and his wife took great care of our property, left the cabin in very clean condition, and we will gladly welcome them back for a return visit! Peg and Bob

Awesome Experience

  • 5 of 5

Clean (actually immaculate), quiet setting (I could almost hear the stars in the dark of the night). Easy trails, nice campfire circle and plenty of green space surrounded by the woods (you can see the road - yeah - about 6 cars a day).

It's just awesome! Walking into the cabin, you are greeted with the fresh scent of pine (which covers the walls and ceiling). It's cozy, and the shower is big enough for two :) . Perfect get-a-way!

Awesome weekend at the cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Perfect little getaway in the peace and quiet, yet you are still close enough to drive to do/see things in the area. Well maintained cabin and land...I definitely see why there are so many great reviews on this place. My husband and I stayed here for our one year wedding anniversary. Here are some suggestions of things to do nearby that we did: Obviously hike Letchworth, dinner at Birdsall Inn (7 miles from the cabin), lunch at the Hole in the Wall in Perry, Golfing at Woodlynn Golf Course in Nunda (about 20-25 mins. from cabin), Silver Lake Brewing Project in Perry (awesome brewery...about 12 different beers on tap that they make and a couple from guest brewery). Next time we go back I want to go horseback riding in Dansville, check out shops or do antique shopping, and/or hot air balloon ride over Letchworth, and drive-in movie and putt-putt golf at the Charcoal Carrol in Perry. The cabin has a great book/binder with many suggestions! We also had little bon fire at night in the fire pit and walked through the trails around the cabin. Hope we can go back to the cabin next year! Would totally have stayed longer if we could.

Cabin in tip top shape

  • 5 of 5

We didn't stay at the cabin much during our visit to Letchworth State Park, but the cabin was spotless and had everything and more that you would need for a stay. There were also cute little tags throughout the cabin with instructions or reminders on them. It's a very quiet, remote area and although we did not have kids, it would be a great place for kids to be outdoors and not worry about them.
