Wonderful location, right around the corner from the excitement and night life of Westport & a 24-hour grocery store. Within 1 mile of the Plaza, Kansas City Art Institute, and KU Medical Center & bus lines including the MAX on Main Street.

Modern ceiling fans, brand new floors, and uptown style. Fully enclosed, fenced backyard. Detached garage with space for 1 vehicle inside and 1 vehicle in the driveway. Large finished storage room above the garage.

The living room features a sleeper sofa, 2 cozy recliner chairs, flat screen tv and dvd / usb player, and a mirrored hall closet. Enjoy Google Fiber Gigabyte + TV (1000 Mbps download / upload speeds and 150 + TV channels), and phone with free long distance to U.S.

The bathroom and kitchen are brand new, completely remodeled (except for the vintage built-in cabinets, which we have kept). Bosch dishwasher, new countertops and white porcelain double sink, metro tile floors. Amana gas stove, and LG refrigerator. Roll-around kitchen island cart, microwave, toaster, Ninja blender, coffee maker, and dishes, glassware, cooking utensils, and pots and pans (stainless steel and cast iron).

Right off the kitchen, you'll find a laundry room with LG high efficiency washer and dryer. There's an enclosed front porch, and a brick patio with a fenced backyard, BBQ grill, hammocks, and benches out back.

The larger bedroom has a king-sized bed with a high quality firm mattress, two closets, 2 nightstands and reading lamps, and a dresser with mirror and six drawers. This bedroom also features an en suite vanity sink. Plenty of high quality linens and pillows provided.

The bed in the smaller bedroom has a high quality firm Twin XL mattress. ('XL' means extra long, so it is the same length as a King size bed.) The small bedroom features bookcases, a desk for two, and a closet with drawers and hanging space. Linens including pillows, sheets, and blankets for the Twin XL bed are provided.

There is a bonus room at the back of the house with a green and white desk, filing cabinet, swivel chair, and surge protector strip. This room can alternatively be used as a sleeping cove. The bonus room has an extra long (80-inch) foldable sleeping cot and 5-inch thick fiber bed.

The office includes wireless printer-copier-scanner, wireless/ethernet router, rechargable battery charger, and supplies (paper, scissors, stapler, three-hole punch, envelopes, surge protectors / USB outlets, etc).

The house is only 1 story, but the garage has 2 levels. The first level has space for your car, and then you can go upstairs to the second level for storage. The garage lower level has space for 1 large car or compact pick-up truck, plus bicycles or motorcycle. The vertical clearance in the garage is 76 inches (6' 4"), so a very tall vehicle may not fit. Outside the garage, the driveway has space for 1 car.

The house and garage have 24-hour response security system, providing peace of mind when you're away.

I'm from the Kansas City area originally. I purchased this home in 2014 as a second home. Over the summer I've remodeled and furnished this home with the utmost care. Meanwhile I have 4 years of experience hosting a furnished apartment rental in San Francisco, where I live full time. I understand what guests need when they are only here for a short while, with no time to worry about little things like buying bath mats or paper towels. Rest assured, when I furnish a place, everything is there.

I'm a civil engineer by trade, but I truly enjoy decorating and making a place feel like home. I hope this is something you'll be able to appreciate when you stay at my little house in Old Westport.

Why Rachel Donovan chose Kansas City

It's very important to me to live in a place where I can walk to places-- grocery store, parks, museums, restaurants, library, bank, cafes, etc. At this little house, I have all of that, and more. My family members and long-time friends live nearby. It's such a wonderful feeling to have purchased a place that is right where I came from and right where I want to be. I've had a lot of fun remodeling this house and setting it up with custom furniture. I hope you will enjoy it, too!

What makes this house unique

This home was built in the 1870s. When I bought it in summer 2014, it was a solid house in need of some cosmetic upgrades. Now that it has been renovated, the house shines with happiness and warmth! If you had seen the house 'before' and 'after' you'd be inspired by the transformation. What I love most about the house is its location, convenient to everything in Westport/Midtown/Plaza by walking, and so convenient to everything else in Kansas City by car or bus. This house is for someone who appreciates being in a walker's paradise ('walkscore' of 91), right in the middle of it all.

Maid service can be added, which includes cleaning the kitchen, bathroom, mop the floors and dust the furniture ($100 per visit). Currently we are not offering linens service, as so far our guests have preferred to wash the sheets and towels on their own schedule, and re-make the beds themselves. Great Landlord and Fab City Sanctuary

Stayed at Rachel's for my first 6 months in KCMO while I got my oriented to the city. Rachel is very attentive. Her place is well stocked and should you be lacking anything she will get it for you. She cares about quality and detail so there are blackout shades and the landscaping is impeccable. It's very quaint and well located. The neighborhood was a it young for a 50-something but perfect for short term as grocery store, shops and restaurants are all within walking distance. A bit further (1 mi south) is the Plaza and 2 miles north Downtown. A block away is hip Westport, which also has WorldMarket as well as lot of outdoor dining. Fav is Cava's patio. Also, checkout the Donut Lounge amongst many others.

Very clean and plenty of storage!

Cute little house, about a 5 minute walk from all the action in Westport, but just far enough away that you are not a part of it if you don't want to be. Lots of storage and custom shelves and extras that you wouldn't expect. The backyard is very private and lovely, but you can hear the traffic going by at nearby Southwest Trafficway. The house is quiet inside, but you can hear the distant hum of traffic when the TV or stereo isn't on. Not a complaint, only an observation, as the house is wonderful. I stayed more than 1 month and enjoyed it each day.

During my stay, I had a family barbecue with 25 people in attendance, and there was space for everyone. My family loved the house. There's a charcoal grill with all the grilling utensils provided, too. This was the perfect house for my needs. Thank you, Rachel!

Close to everything!

The house is within walking distance to all of Westport and the Plaza. The landscaping and private backyard give the home a lot of quiet privacy. The house is very functional and is equipped for anything you may need during your stay. I highly recommend this property as I enjoyed my time in the Old Westport Home.

Comfortable house perfectly situated in central KC.

My two roommates and I rented from Rachel for 2 1/2 months while in KC for summer internships and the house suited our needs perfectly. The house is less than 10 mins from downtown ($8 Uber ride) and walking distance to Westport and the Country Club Plaza. Simply put: a solid, comfortable house in a fun/convenient neighborhood. If the need arises, I'll absolutely consider staying here again.
