The Belmont House is a solar-powered, newly finished renovation/conversion of an 1886 Victorian in the heart of the Rose City. The 1-2 bedroom main floor unit sleeps 4 people on 2 queens. The back bedroom has an outside door to a private, covered sitting porch--a great place to sit at the bistro table enjoying a quiet, secluded moment looking out at the peaceful landscaping and large backyard. The front bedroom has a Murphy bed which makes the room versatile! It can be a legitimate bedroom, with small closet and 8' pocket doors to separate it from the dining room, or it can transform into a Victorian parlor room when the second bed is not needed. Fear not! There is still plenty of space to congregate. Sit in the large dining room with fireplace and book shelves, or gather in the kitchen, pulling a stool up to the concrete counter tops. The stone patio, which magically lights up with sparkly lights after dark, is a great place to be in good weather. When the weather starts to cool, the fire pit can extend your outdoor time and add to the romance of your stay!

About the owner: The 'small city, big town' aspect of Portland is what drew us here--great place for a Massachusetts native and a Montana girl. We met at the Univ. of Montana, lived in Seattle a few years, and have been raising our family in Portland since 1991. We put a lot of love and work into the Portland Belmont House and now enjoy sharing it with others. We look forward to more travel when the kids grow up. Until then, so fun to have travelers who visit us!

Why the Owner Chose Southeast Portland, Portland, OR, USA:
We bought this property because of its location, bones and vibes! 128 years of stories to tell. A diamond in the rough with unique character and hidden elegance made it a place worth putting our heart and soul into renovating. The rustic concrete counter tops and restored original cabinet (found on the back porch) balance out the vibrant splashes of color and high end appliances of the kitchen. Solar panels, stagger studded walls, and ample insulation look to the future while the 8' wood pocket doors, original fir floors, and intricately carved wood work reveal the past. All new electric and plumbing, and sound absorption channels between floors, help remove the unnecessary aggravations of the past to better enjoy the beauty of the space.

We are 3 blocks from the famous Sunflower Intersection at SE 33rd and Yamhill, a uniquely Portland part of Portland. The house charms people. The great yard, patio, barbecue, (and fire pit too!) make a person feel out in the countryside, yet, only a block and a half away are the shops, world class, affordable restaurants, gourmet grocery stores, food carts galore. Public transportation is a stone's throw away. Drive down the street and you are in downtown Portland in 4 minutes. Everything you need right out your door.
