About the property

Close to Everything--Modern Touches in Beautifully Renovated Victorian.

We invite you to make yourself at home and enjoy a truly unique Portland experience. Feel the pulse, and hear the sounds of the urban activity in our central location, smell the wafts of nearby restaurants preparing gourmet delights, see the bright colors of artists in action right out the front door. Surprises are always around the corner in this safe and creative Southeast Portland neighborhood.

The Belmont House is a solar-powered, newly finished renovation/conversion of an 1886 Victorian in the heart of the Rose City. The 1 bedroom main floor unit sleeps 4 people. The bedroom opens to the back with an outside, private, covered sitting porch--a great place to sit at the bistro table enjoying a quiet, secluded moment looking out at the beautiful landscaping and large backyard. There is plenty of space to congregate. Enjoy the front parlor, sit in the dining room with fireplace and books, or gather in the kitchen, pulling a stool up to the concrete counter tops. The stone patio, which magically lights up with sparkly lights after dark, is a great place to be in good weather. When the weather starts to cool, the fire pit can extend your outdoor time and add to the romance of your stay!

About Deb Grant

The 'small city, big town' aspect of Portland is what drew us to Portland 25 years ago. I'm a Montana girl who loves the vibrancy of an urban atmosphere and the culture of both the countryside and the town. My husband Chuck and I have partnered on many projects through the years. He currently lives on site, and I live a mile away. We enjoy working together and have put a lot of love into the Portland Belmont House. We now enjoy sharing it with others.

Deb Grant purchased this apartment in 2011

Why Deb Grant chose Portland

We bought this property because of its location, bones and vibes! 128 years of stories to tell. A diamond in the rough with unique character and hidden elegance made it a place worth putting our heart and soul into renovating. The rustic concrete counter tops and restored original cabinet (found on the back porch) balance out the vibrant splashes of color and high end appliances of the kitchen. Solar panels, stagger studded walls, and ample insulation look to the future while the 8' wood pocket doors, original fir floors, and intricately carved wood work reveal the past. All new electric and plumbing, and sound absorption channels between floors, help remove the unnecessary aggravations of the past to better enjoy the beauty of the space.

What makes this apartment unique

The Belmont House provides a quiet, comfortable home stay within a vibrant, fascinating part of Portland. We are 3 blocks from the famous Sunflower Intersection at SE 33rd and Yamhill, a uniquely Portland part of Portland. The house charms people. The great yard, patio, barbecue, (and fire pit too!) make a person feel out in the countryside, yet, only a block and a half away are the shops, world class, affordable restaurants, gourmet grocery stores, food carts galore. Public transportation is a stone's throw away. Drive down the street and you are in downtown Portland in 4 minutes. Everything you need right out your door.

Beautiful and high quality home, with lots of lovely touches. Great area and Deborah was really helpful, with lots of tips on restaurants etc. Unfortunately, being an old home, noise from the apartment above does travel (and presumably to the apartment below as well) so not necessarily great for light sleepers. Bring earplugs and slippers!

This may be the nicest VRBO experience I've ever had. The owners of the suite were so thoughtful in outfitting the place that I felt at home as soon as walked through the door. The location was perfect for us. The suite beautiful. Both beds were comfortable. Although we didn't meet the owners, communication with them was a breeze. You cannot go wrong with this place.

Charming and cozy home in a convenient location!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time and pleasant stay! The home is comfortable and is stocked with all the essentials and some great extras (tea, coffee, and other sundries). Foot traffic was heard from upstairs and next door, but it was expected as part of the charm of an historic home. And kudos to Deb for being so helpful and super responsive!

Wonderful rental!

  • 5 of 5

This property is a gem! We have used VRBO for over ten years and this is one of our best experiences.

When you arrive, you are greeted by a lovely garden and patio. Once inside the house, you will be very pleased with the full kitchen, the dining room with fireplace (which we used-there is a plentiful supply of firewood and the chimney draws very well), the comfortable living room and cozy bedroom. All with high ceilings. The property is very well maintained. We loved it at first sight and felt right at home.

Deb is very attentive and readily available to answer any questions or address any problems.

The location of the property is excellent. The neighborhood is nice. Public transportation is a few steps away, as is a convenience store and a very fine Thai restaurant. A Safeway is a ten minute walk away.

Portland is a great city. Friendly people, pretty clean and easy to get around using the excellent public transportation system or just walking about. A tip: Get a seven day transportation pass at the airport. There is an information person at the ticket machines who will help you and provide directions. (You can get to the property right from the airport, if you want to save a few bucks and are a bit adventurous. We are in our sixties, and did it pretty easily even schlepping three bags)

Lastly, the food. Wow! Hit every food truck you can, you won't be disappointed. Check out the Mediterranean Exploratory Company on NW 13th St. for a very interesting menu.

If you are going to Portland, stay here. You won't be disappointed.
