About the property

Close to Everything--Modern Touches in Beautifully Renovated Victorian.

We invite you to make yourself at home and enjoy a truly unique Portland experience. Feel the pulse, and hear the sounds of the urban activity in our central location, smell the wafts of nearby restaurants preparing gourmet delights, see the bright colors of artists in action right out the front door. Surprises are always around the corner in this safe and creative Southeast Portland neighborhood.

The Belmont House is a solar-powered, newly finished renovation/conversion of an 1886 Victorian in the heart of the Rose City. The 1 bedroom main floor unit sleeps 4 people. The bedroom opens to the back with an outside, private, covered sitting porch--a great place to sit at the bistro table enjoying a quiet, secluded moment looking out at the beautiful landscaping and large backyard. There is plenty of space to congregate. Enjoy the front parlor, sit in the dining room with fireplace and books, or gather in the kitchen, pulling a stool up to the concrete counter tops. The stone patio, which magically lights up with sparkly lights after dark, is a great place to be in good weather. When the weather starts to cool, the fire pit can extend your outdoor time and add to the romance of your stay!

About Deb Grant

The 'small city, big town' aspect of Portland is what drew us to Portland 25 years ago. I'm a Montana girl who loves the vibrancy of an urban atmosphere and the culture of both the countryside and the town. My husband Chuck and I have partnered on many projects through the years. He currently lives on site, and I live a mile away. We enjoy working together and have put a lot of love into the Portland Belmont House. We now enjoy sharing it with others.

Deb Grant purchased this apartment in 2011

Why Deb Grant chose Sunnyside

We bought this property because of its location, bones and vibes! 128 years of stories to tell. A diamond in the rough with unique character and hidden elegance made it a place worth putting our heart and soul into renovating. The rustic concrete counter tops and restored original cabinet (found on the back porch) balance out the vibrant splashes of color and high end appliances of the kitchen. Solar panels, stagger studded walls, and ample insulation look to the future while the 8' wood pocket doors, original fir floors, and intricately carved wood work reveal the past. All new electric and plumbing, and sound absorption channels between floors, help remove the unnecessary aggravations of the past to better enjoy the beauty of the space.

What makes this apartment unique

The Belmont House provides a quiet, comfortable home stay within a vibrant, fascinating part of Portland. We are 3 blocks from the famous Sunflower Intersection at SE 33rd and Yamhill, a uniquely Portland part of Portland. The house charms people. The great yard, patio, barbecue, (and fire pit too!) make a person feel out in the countryside, yet, only a block and a half away are the shops, world class, affordable restaurants, gourmet grocery stores, food carts galore. Public transportation is a stone's throw away. Drive down the street and you are in downtown Portland in 4 minutes. Everything you need right out your door.

Wonderful!!

  • 5 of 5

Deb is an amazing owner/renter. Her home is immaculate, comfortable, and cute. We enjoyed staying here and will again when we are in the Hawthorne district. It made our trip easy as we could walk to restaraunts or just morning coffee. Perfect location and we loved the experience it allowed us in Portland.

I want Deb to decorate my home!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five - including three rambunctious kids - adored this Victorian home-away-from-home in PDX. What a delightfully warm and welcoming spot to come back to after a long day at OMSI or in Hood River. All the amenities you could need, plus a spot-on attention to detail in terms of keeping the historic character of the home. Seriously, I want Deb to come decorate our Seattle urban farmhouse! There is a wonderful backyard, complete with rope swing, which our kids loved. Comfy beds, plush towels, laundry, close to restaurants, coffee shops and ice cream parlors. We will be back next time PDX calls! Thank you, Deb!

Owner's Response: Thanks, Michelle! And next time you visit I hope to have a portfolio of restaurant and activity suggestions! Apologies for not getting back to you about that. Step-by-step we try to add what we can. Glad to hear your stay went well. We will be adding curtains to the kitchen soon. Still looking for the right fabric. I'll post a photo on the Facebook page when we complete the project! Thank you for staying with us!

Lovely place

  • 5 of 5

WE three had a delightful stay at Deb's home. The two bedrooms gave privacy as well as comfort. The neighborhood is interesting and we were about a four block walk from an excellent Mediterranean restaurant. The home is set in a delightful garden area, back away from the street and so quiet.

Charming, comfortable, perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We love Deb and have stayed in another unit of this property (downstairs) in the past. We returned this year and upgraded to the upstairs unit for a little 3 day get away/ mini honeymoon. We loved the kitchen and the comfort of the unit. It's only a walk away from all of our favorite spots and has an adorable yard area. Deb is a wonderful host and even gifted us some goodies as a congratulations for our wedding. Highly recommend!

Beautiful home, great location, wonderful host!

  • 5 of 5

Could not have anticipated the charm and beauty of this historic home. Attention to detail was evident throughout the house. The home is close to shopping, restaurants, bars. Deb is a great host, her husband is a nice guy. They went out of their way to make us feel at home...and we did!
