About Dick and Mary George

We retired from our jobs in the medical profession in 2008 to move to the Adirondack Mountains where we took a retirement job as live in inn keepers at a historic Great Camp. We found that we loved the Adirondacks and purchased a home and retired from our retirement job.

Dick and Mary George purchased this apartment in 2010

Why Dick and Mary George chose New York

Having traveled to the Adirondacks many times over the past 20 years we came to appreciate and enjoy the Mountain lifestyle. We fell in love with this property from the moment we first saw it. The view is stunning and we feel so fortunate to be able to live in these beautiful mountains.

What makes this apartment unique

The Adirondack style of our home and it's location on a beautiful lake with gorgeous scenery, being surrounded by forever wild forest and an abundance of wildlife as well as great access to canoeing, hiking, fishing and winter sports all contributed to our love of this property.

Perfect lake house with spectacular views and hosts!

  • 5 of 5

We have travelled extensively and we both agree that On Franklin Pond was up there with the best.

The accomodation is spotlessly clean, comfortable, had everything we needed and decorated tastefully in the Adirondack style. There are kayak's and life jackets to use on the lake which is directly in front of the house. The views of the lake were spectacular, the colours changed as the light changed, truly beautiful particularly during our visit when the leaves were starting to change colour.

The hosts Dick and Mary were delightful, friendly and welcoming, we felt that they were friends by the time we left.

Mary had home made muffins, the best chocolate chip cookies and a lovely welcome basket for us on our arrival. Milk, juice and the basics were all there.

Dick is the tour guide at White Pine Camp, we recommend the 2 hour tour with him if they are running.

Our stay of 6 nights was not enough! We would love to go back again one day.

Thank you Dick and Mary for everything, you are the perfect hosts!

Adirondack Oasis

  • 5 of 5

Dick and Mary thought of every detail possible to make our stay so enjoyable. Truly a wonderful place! The views are gorgeous. The accommodations are 5 stars! Just far enough out of town to keep us happy. Scott and I had the best time. We would definitely go back!

Dick and Mary's cottage on Franklin Pond is a charming, cozy home nestled in a beautiful setting.

  • 5 of 5

Dick and Mary are gracious hosts. They really know how to make their guests feel welcome and at home.

The cottage is supplied with a basket of coffee, tea, cocoa, muffins, cookies, etc. We enjoyed the outdoor patio, the use of two kayaks, the fire pit, and the beach for swimming.

The location of the cottage is ideal--nestled in a serene setting, yet close to the tourist attractions.

So peaceful,absolutely perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Mary and Dick went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. They certainly have the gift of hospitality! We felt like they go out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. The rooms were so clean and beautifully decorated in the adirondack style. The view from both the living room and bedroom is of the pond and mountains and all Gods creations,so beautiful. We were treated with many little surprises as home made blueberry muffins, a little vase of fresh flowers in the bathroom, sparkling wine on a silver tray with 2 beautiful glasses for our anniversary and much more! The grounds are also beautiful and woodsy. I could go on ....it was a wonderful weekend! Not long enough. We hope to go back.
