We retired from our jobs in the medical profession in 2008 to move to the Adirondack Mountains where we took a retirement job as live in inn keepers at a historic Great Camp. We found that we loved the Adirondacks and purchased a home and retired from our retirement job.
Dick and Mary George purchased this apartment in 2010
Having traveled to the Adirondacks many times over the past 20 years we came to appreciate and enjoy the Mountain lifestyle. We fell in love with this property from the moment we first saw it. The view is stunning and we feel so fortunate to be able to live in these beautiful mountains.
The Adirondack style of our home and it's location on a beautiful lake with gorgeous scenery, being surrounded by forever wild forest and an abundance of wildlife as well as great access to canoeing, hiking, fishing and winter sports all contributed to our love of this property.
We rented the house during our wedding, and we are so glad that we did! Dick and Mary were such wonderful hosts. They were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. They went above and beyond to make sure that we had a great stay, while also giving us plenty of privacy. The house itself is new, clean, and beautifully decorated. The room has a wonderful view of the lake. The foliage was absolutely amazing while we were there. I can't say enough positive things about our experience, and I would highly recommend it to others!
The property was exactly as stated; warm, comfortable and relaxing. Perfect place to spend a few days. And the opportunity to kayak during the day, find great restaurants a short drive away, and retire in a peaceful environment was what "On Franklin Pond" is all about. Host, Mary & Dick are welcoming and generous. The property clean, spacious, and one did not lack anything. Highly recommend this property and am hoping to return again next year.
This truly is a great rental with beautiful views. Dick & Mary are wonderful people who make you feel right at home the minute you arrive. The property is well maintained and cozy. Enjoyed the homemade cookies and muffins. Can't wait to go back and enjoy the area.
This was a beautiful trip with my boyfriend. Dick and Mary were so hospitable. I truly appreciate their kindness as well as Mary's delicious muffins! The only thing I regret about the trip was I didn't get the recipe for those muffins!
I booked this listing for my parents, who ended up extending their stay and plan to return in the fall. Dick and Mary were incredibly welcoming and friendly. They provided some coffee, oj, and light breakfast items for the following morning in case you got in late and didn't have time to go out shopping. Everything was clean, well maintained, and cozy. Even though I didn't stay there personally, I know this because I visited my parents there for the day. It was fabulous spending time in the sun in the patio looking out onto Franklin pond (which we swam and paddled on with the kayaks and canoe they have available to guests). Wonderful people and a fantastic getaway!
What a great couple! Dick and Mary are an absolute delight and it was such a pleasure staying at their property. Everything was well taken care of and I especially appreciated that every amenity you could think of was offered. The property was clean and inviting - inside and out. I would strongly recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in the High Peaks region. You have easy access (20 min or less) to many great attractions while still getting that secluded feel. Having use of kayaks was a huge bonus! Thank you so much for a great stay.
