Why Elba Morgan chose Salvo
This property was a diamond in the rough and had the most magnificent views. Being a science educator I loved the fact that Sweet Sands is surrounded by nature and so close to the national wildlife refuge.
What makes this House unique
Sweet Sands is a large home with a very cozy feel. It was recently updated and decorated by a well known designer. Her attention to detail and her ability to make Sweet Sands feel like a cottage makes it stand a part from other rental vacation properties.
Pool / Spa
good rental house
fast communication, great condition, good location, and everything is great.
Gorgeous! And so conveniently close to the beach!
We had a wonderful stay at sweet sands! Can’t wait to come back.
Definitely a great place to have a vacation with numerous families. We had several families all with children under the age of 5, and it did not seem like we were all on top of each other the entire time. The pool was definitely helpful when the waves got a little bit rough on the ocean. The home felt more like a home then it did a rental property. Assistance was easily obtained, and the issues were solved the very next morning when there was an issue with a light and the hot tub. Would definitely recommend this home as a vacation spot to anyone!
Amazing Place in Salvo!
Could not be happier with our choice in our first visit to Salvo. Huge home, with a quick walk to the beach and beautifully furnished. Full kitchen on two levels is great for the kids, and so many bathrooms and bedrooms gives all the options you could possibly need. The home is even better than the pictures. I'd return in a second. We loved how peaceful this area was on such a major holiday.
Love this place. The doctor is beautiful!
I have stayed in several homes in the Salvo area and this one is by far furnished the nicest. Each room is done so nicely and very comfortable with privacy and love having my own bathroom. Each floor has its own amazing balcony with fabulous views. The house is a little slice of heaven and perfect for relaxing and enjoying family and friends.
Thank you ! we try to have all the comforts of home while making it a sweet get away!!!
Kick Back and Relax!!!!
We hosted a family reunion in OBX and Sweet Sands was the perfect house for hosting. The floor plan maximized the space for eating and gathering on the second floor. The large wrap around porches were perfect for watching the sunrise. The beach was a short walk (we couldn't have picked a more perfect house)!! The kids loved having the pool and hot tub!! Plenty of space for everyone and the elevator was a bonus when carrying in groceries. Owner was very responsive to questions. We will stay here again on our next vacation to OBX.
Originally called Clarks or Clarksville, the village of Salvo on the Outer Banks got is name in a most interesting way. The legend goes that during the Civil War, a sailor aboard a Union ship passing off the coast of Hatteras Island spied the town of Clarks, but couldn't find a name for it on the map. He informed his captain who famously said, 'Give it a salvo anyway.' They did, and the sailor then wrote 'Salvo' on his map to mark the North Carolina town. The town took on its new name in 1901 when it got its own post office.
Today, a vacation through parts of Salvo will revel stacked crab pots, fish boxes and Banker fisherman at work just as they were generations ago. The rhythm of life is slower, relaxation and peace and quiet easy to find, but there's still plenty of things to do. The beauty of the area abounds with white sandy beaches, beautiful blue waters and many sand hills, perfect for kite boarding and wind surfing, canoeing and exploring the beauty of the Sound. Or just grab a fishing pole and find a spot to wait for something to bite.
