Why Elba Morgan chose Dare County
This property was a diamond in the rough and had the most magnificent views. Being a science educator I loved the fact that Sweet Sands is surrounded by nature and so close to the national wildlife refuge.
What makes this House unique
Sweet Sands is a large home with a very cozy feel. It was recently updated and decorated by a well known designer. Her attention to detail and her ability to make Sweet Sands feel like a cottage makes it stand a part from other rental vacation properties.
Pool / Spa
Sports & Adventure Activities
This home leaves me speechless everytime we visit. It is a true getaway, a home away from home, a breath of fresh air. It is the ideal place for a family. Everything in the home is thought out and absolutely beautiful. Only home our family will stay at in OBX.
Thank you! We are so happy to have you each year!
We have stayed at Sweet Sands three times now. We have held a family reunion there, and had several families join us there. I cannot say enough great things about this house and the location. It is steps from the beach, and decorated immaculately. They have everything you need for 14 people, and more! The kitchen is a pleasure to cook in and has plenty of room for everyone to join in on any activities. It has a plunge pool and a hot tub. I love this place and will go back every summer!
Absolutely gorgeous beach home!
Sweet Sands is the perfect beach home for a family vacation. The home is beautifully decorated and extremely spacious. The walk to the beach is short and you can see the ocean from the deck. My family and I enjoyed our stay very much and can't wait to book it again.
Beautiful and comfortable-
Loved the house- the elevator was great for my mother who had some recent back surgery. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could possibly need. The furniture was very comfortable and nice. There was no picnic table or ping pong table as advertised. I called the concierge service but they didn't seem to care when I asked about them. The only down side to the house is that you have to walk outside and around the house to get to the pool and hotub. The house is clean and beautifully decorated, but dididn't not have any "starter packets". There were no paper towels, or toilet paper- be prepared. Also did not have dish towels. It was an easy walk to the beach, and the views were great. Overall we loved the house and it's location. There are several small stores near by that had everything we needed. The food lion was 12 miles away.
Beautiful, spacious and clean as always!
We loved the Sweet Sands of Salvo. It was the perfect size for our extended family vacation with 4 Couples and 7 children. It gave us the ability to spread out but also be together as we wanted. The beach wasn't too far away. The pool was a little smaller than we expected but perfect for the kids when the ocean became too much. Overall I would recommend this house!!
PS: open the windows... there was an amazing beach breeze that I regret not taking advantage of until our last day there!
Originally called Clarks or Clarksville, the village of Salvo on the Outer Banks got is name in a most interesting way. The legend goes that during the Civil War, a sailor aboard a Union ship passing off the coast of Hatteras Island spied the town of Clarks, but couldn't find a name for it on the map. He informed his captain who famously said, 'Give it a salvo anyway.' They did, and the sailor then wrote 'Salvo' on his map to mark the North Carolina town. The town took on its new name in 1901 when it got its own post office. Today, a vacation through parts of Salvo will revel stacked crab pots, fish boxes and Banker fisherman at work just as they were generations ago. The rhythm of life is slower, relaxation and peace and quiet easy to find, but there's still plenty of things to do. The beauty of the area abounds with white sandy beaches, beautiful blue waters and many sand hills, perfect for kite boarding and wind surfing, canoeing and exploring the beauty of the Sound. Or just grab a fishing pole and find a spot to wait for something to bite.
