Great vacation in the woods

  • 5 of 5

Very well appointed cabin, very clean. Great beach access to both Lake Michigan and Crystal Lake. Very quiet area. Lovely sunsets. Nice activities within the camp if you want to attend some things. Owner was very responsive at all times. Nice location, Frankfort is a cute town and has some good restaurants. Close to many other great northwest Michigan areas. The only tiny drawback was a musty smell in the cabin, but hey, it's a cabin in the woods. Would definitely consider staying again.

We already wrote a very favorable review please make sure you received it. Chip and Carol

I have had so much trouble sending you a favorable report on this cottage-that I sent a copy of my review to the owner. If you want it, contact him. I am tired of trying to get it to you in this venue. Chip

Nice early Summer stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a nice stay in early June for a week and the cottage is just as it appears in the pictures. We had plenty of space for our family (2 adults & 2 young kids). The kids loved having the bunk beds. It was Occasionally tough having the one bathroom, but we managed. The short walk down the hill to Lake Michigan was nice and the sunsets on most nights were spectacular. Crystal Lake is really close as well and a nice option for calmer and more shallow water for the kids to play in. Close proximity to tons of fun: Sleeping Bear Dunes, Platte River, Traverse Cty, Glen arbor, Bike Trails, and it was also nice to just site on the deck and relax. Great Value and it will definitely be on the short list for future summer vacations locations.

Ideal Northwoods & Beach Experience

  • 4 of 5

You'll quickly find this cottage very well suited for a vacation in the north woods/beach when you see there is a long row of hooks filled with big beach towels to use. Other fine touches you'll notice later, like bath towels, and there were plenty of them, are rolled and very soft, not scratchy. The well equipped kitchen is plenty big for everyone in your party who likes to rustle up snacks or cook. We liked that the gas grill was just outside the kitchen window. A very large deck and plenty of comfortable dinner seating outside and in adds to the overall impression. Everything was spotlessly clean: kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms.

We appreciated finding some items in the kitchen cupboards and refrigerator, like mayo, ketchup, relish, etc. Lots of places completely clear out the fridge and cupboards between rentals, but in our experience that makes our first day grocery shopping needlessly long. Also, the owner called us on our arrival day to say the cottage cleaning was finished early and we could move in sooner than planned--how nice to hear after a long drive up!

We made a fire in the fireplace on a couple of nights and the fire drew up quickly, unlike some fireplaces that send a lot of smoke into the room until the chimney heats up and draws properly. Just outside by the grill was a big rack of firewood for us to use.

So peaceful!

  • 5 of 5

Such a nice cute and cozy cottage! Perfect for my family. Absolutely everything we needed was there and it was very clean! We kayaked down the Platte River, it ends at Lake Michigan with stunning views of Sleeping Bear. The Cherry Bowl Drive-In is only 20 min drive. The owners were wonderful to work with and we can't wait to return next year!

Cozy cottage in Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Although only a two bedroom, this immaculate cottage had plenty of room for our family. The cottage is clearly one of the originals in the area, but it has been very well maintained and the interior is completely new and fresh with a great layout. The full (nicely stocked) kitchen opens into a large living/dining area which was great for happy hours while fixing dinner. There is a new wood deck with table and umbrella for dining al fresco, which you'll want to do because all you'll hear are birds and Lake Michigan - BLISS! The cottage is somewhat built into a hill so it's very quiet and peaceful. On a rainy day you can light a fire in the large fireplace and play board games at the oversize kitchen table. There is a little laundry room off the bathroom which was key for a week+ stay with a baby. The owners went above and beyond in helping us find a crib and stroller, but really the house already had everything else we could possibly need - down to laundry baskets and beach towels. Cute but not overdone nautical and beach-themed decor.

Beach access and little playground area is a three minute walk away. Recommend you do at least one beachfire; caretakers provided firewood and smores sticks which made for a great little night. All in all about the best and easiest vacation you can pull off with a newborn :)
