Why Beth Collins chose Door County

Door County is a place that have loved and traveled to from far distances for many years. Although we have traveled all over the country and the world, Door County is such a unique and beautiful place that offers so much variety for our family.

What makes this house unique

We love the feel of this home. It is warm, cozy and comfortable. The large windows enable you to feel like you are close to nature. We love the location, with proximity to Fish Creek, Peninsula and Ephraim, as well as being in the center of the peninsula. We love that we can walk to Fish Creek, yet be in a private, tucked-away place with beautiful surroundings. We love that it is a safe place for our kids to play.

Lovely house, with plenty of room for 6 women.

  • 5 of 5

My five friends and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this house. Three of us shared the king bedroom (I slept on the daybed) and we giggled like we were teenagers...we're in our 50s. One friend slept in the very top bedroom and she felt challenged walking up and down the stairs. The house was very clean and we had most everything we needed to prepare our meals. We played bags in the backyard and lit a fire in the pit. Shopped in Fish Creek and spent a lot of quality time at the house. A perfect retreat for we city girls who needed a getaway. We will consider coming back in 2018 as we will be visiting Michigan this year.

The property was great.

  • 5 of 5

Everything was in order. The owners are exceptionally friendly and very easy to work with. The cottage is well suited for groups (or single people even) to explore Door County. We had a a number of people visit during our two week stay, most of whom had never been to Door County before. Every person who stayed at the place remarked as to how nice the property was and how well located it was for visiting all over the Door. Definitely a place to return to.

Great place to be

  • 5 of 5

It was all the positive reviews that made me book. We were not disappointed . You can tell the owners wanted this to be a homelike experience. Plenty of space for 5 adults and 5 children ( 4 age 4 and under and 1 12yr ) we too brought a baby gate for an inquisitive 14 mon old. Back yard was great for water blasters and slip n slide. And who doesn't enjoy smore's by the fire pit !

I want to thank Beth for making the process of booking so convenient. She was quick to respond and answered any questions. All responses had a personal note so you can tell she cares about your experience.

A Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for two weeks, which gave us plenty of time to settle in and relax. The first week was a friends' week, the second devoted to family. The house is an excellent choice for many reasons. First, it's in great shape. There is obvious owner pride here. The house is thoughtfully equipped with everything you need if you want to cook/eat on premises. Also, the beds were comfortable and there are a variety of options for sleeping arrangements when you are accommodating a lot of people. Next, the location is on a private road that is convenient to just about everything DC has to offer plus it's within walking distance to Fish Creek.

My only suggestion to the owners is that even though the home has excellent cross-ventilation, on warm, humid evenings it would have been great to have had more air circulation on the first floor. Our after-dinner card games got to be a little hotter than we planned. A few fans would have made a big difference.

We've stayed in a number of rentals in DC over the years and Little Spring Cottage was head & shoulders above them all. If you are looking for a spot that provides comfort and privacy for a wide range of ages -- kids through seniors -- give serious consideration to this property.

Owner's Response: We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your time at our house. Our apologies for the lack of fans during the weeks you were there. The fan was hidden at the time and we have since taken it out as well as added another fan for your use. The house does get great ventilation, but during those few really humid days, we realize that fans are a must! Thank you again for your kind words and look forward to your coming back soon!

Summer getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was our second summer at the Little Cottage in Fish Creek and it was even more fun this time around! The house was just as I remembered, fully stocked, had EVERYTHING you could possibly need for the week. It was a great home base for our 2 families that stayed (several small children). We enjoyed the large backyard and grill, and the fire pit almost every night of our stay. This is by far the best location for a rental cottage in DC. Close enough to the action but still private on a lovely, quiet street. We are planning to return again next summer!
