If you're looking for unimpeded, sweeping beach views with ultimate privacy, Island Beach Club P6D is for you. You just can't get more 'beach front' and still be inside. Our top floor, west-end corner unit is built closer to the beach than neighboring buildings, so views are superb.
****Special Design Features enhance the view****
Most condo complexes with water frontage have long rectangular floor plans with the narrow side facing the prime view. This allows the developer maximum number of prime view units but creates a boxcar-like feel. Island Beach Club units are nearly square with floor-to-ceiling window-walls. In "D" Building, those window walls provide a breathtaking view of the water.
****Unique features of P6D***
Because it's located on the top floor, there is maximum privacy and quiet. A "reversed floor plan," unique to only 2 other units at Island Beach Club provides especially welcome privacy and quiet. No one walks by your front door unless they are coming to visit you.
From November through February, you can see the sun rise and set from the lanai. The effect is magic and will stay with you long after your vacation is over. Take a look at our VIDEO to get an even better feel for this special place.
Our 2 bedroom, 2 bath, top floor, west-end corner unit is very well equipped: High speed internet, floor to ceiling windows (with electric shades) that bring the views into your living room, full-size washer & dryer, granite counters in a gourmet kitchen, excellent quality knives and an electric knife sharpener to keep them sharp. There is filtered water on the refrigerator door and at the kitchen sink so you don't need to bring bottled water. Also a blender and a coffee grinder to grind your beans.
If the views don't keep you occupied, you'll find board games and puzzles plus 3 substantial sized TV's, each with a VCR and DVD player. We subscribe to a high-end cable TV package with a huge channel selection. The living room has a stereo and CD player.
Master bedroom has a king bed. Two twin beds in the guest bedroom. We intentionally do not have a pull-out bed in the living room, so maximum occupancy is four.
Need some office time--with a gorgeous Gulf-view? There's a convenient desk in the master bedroom with slide-out shelves at keyboard-height for your laptop, power outlets and USB ports. A desktop phone has speakerphone and auto redial. Our high speed dedicated WiFi provides excellent internet access. There's even a wireless printer with copy/scan/fax capability.
Our storage closet in the parking garage has beach chairs, loungers, umbrella, floats and assorted beach toys. We provide beach towels in our linen closet.
There is a convenient elevator.
Unlike most units at Island Beach Club, this unit has a reversed floor plan -- no neighboring units can see into the living room or lanai. Also, no one passes your front door unless they are coming to see you. Electric shades on the living room windows are easy to operate in the unlikely event you want even more privacy.
Just three weeks remain open in 2018: Thanksgiving, Christmas and the week before Christmas.
Guests remember the magic of Island Beach Club P6D and many return year-after-year. People are voting for this condo with their rental dollars -- perhaps the best measure of value.
We normally do not permit bookings farther ahead than one year to protect guests who may wish to re-book the same week(s). Our calendar is accurate. We update it every day.
We have found--from years of renting vacation properties--that price-concern is highest before you see what you've rented. Afterwards, you either spend time enjoying the property or regretting its shortcomings that produced the lower price. Our rates reflect the quality of Island Beach Club P6D. You can find slightly (and considerably) lower prices but they come with large reductions in quality: of view, location, furnishings, sound of the waves and attention to maintenance.
If you find an open week and book with us, we believe you'll be delighted with the perks of a top floor, west-end unit, with its unequaled privacy. The decision is best made by comparing the actual view, furnishings and location of the units you're considering. Beware of properties that lead off with uninspiring pictures. Our view is what you're probably wishing for and we show it proudly. Be sure to click on our video if you haven't already.
WE PAY ATTENTION
We don't rent to guests until we have spoken personally, to assure we are both a good fit. VRBO makes this difficult by withholding traveler phone numbers from owners. We will work with you to make contact nonetheless. After you book and pay your deposit, your phone number becomes visible.
When you arrive, we try to check in by phone to assure everything is just right. Our Sanibel-based manager is available 24/7 to handle any issues. And we promise quick action if there's anything we can do for you.
Island Beach Club is ideally situated on prestigious West Gulf Drive, about 1 mile from Bailey's Grocery Store, many good restaurants, cinema and shopping -- yet avoiding the heaviest traffic. It is also ideally situated on the beach -- well removed from the public access points.
Dedicated WiFi just for this unit provides high speed Internet access.
The beach is just steps away. We provide beach towels, chairs, umbrella and loungers. There is a convenient elevator, covered parking, a large, heated pool and a well furnished, updated kitchen.
There are good-sized flat screen TVs, each with a DVD player, in the living room and each bedroom.

Obviously, we love our magic place and hope you will too! Assuring you find the vacation you want is very important to us. We make a concerted effort to assure our condo is a good match you. We don't want to disappoint anyone. Here are what we consider our biggest drawbacks:
1. SMALL UNIT This condo is 1,195 sq ft -- large enough to accommodate no more than 4 occupants, in our opinion. Many other Island Beach Club units permit 6 occupants -- we do not.
2. SMALL MASTER BATHROOM Island Beach Club was built in 1976 and bathroom standards have evolved markedly since then. There is a single sink and much less room than typically offered today.
3. NOT A PARTY PLACE Neither Sanibel, nor our unit are appropriate or satisfying for spring-break-type party people. The town has few bars and nightlife generally ends by 9-10pm. If you're looking for more action, you would probably be happier with Ft. Myers Beach.
Sanibel is for nature lovers, readers and sea shell collectors, for bicycle riding on protected bike paths, for birding enthusiasts, sun lovers, kayakers/canoeists, beach walkers and those who appreciate low-rise vs high-rise buildings.
4. SUMMER NO-SEE-UMS These tiny, biting bugs occur more frequently in summer months and can chase you off the beach late in the day. Not much of a problem during the day, they can even intrude through the screens on the lanai at dusk. They do not come inside the unit in our experience -- probably because the slider doors are mostly closed in summer for air conditioning. Our laundry room usually has lots of bug sprays left behind by departing guests.

About Barry and Fran Wilson
Fran and Barry Wilson owned P6D from 1997-2004. We sold it, very reluctantly, to move to California for business reasons. But we never forgot this magic place and missed it terribly when we occasionally returned to Sanibel. In October, 2014 the person we'd sold it to 10 years earlier put it up for sale. We bought it back before the realtor could host a single open house!

Sanibel Island is a magical experience -- as is our condo. The views, the beach, the seashells, plus miles and miles of bike paths to ride and beach to walk will keep you busy and content for weeks. There is excellent dining, an abundance of nature experiences to absorb and once you cross the bridge, a welcome respite from the everyday world. In our twenty years visiting Sanibel, we have never found a place as perfect for enjoying that respite as Island Beach Club unit P6D. Its sweeping, unobstructed views of the beach inspire us to this day.
What makes this Condo unique
Top Floor Corner at the west end of the beachfront building. Breathtaking water and beach views. You can hear the waves but except for that, it's ultimately quiet, ultimately private. Almost uniquely at Island Beach Club, no one passes the front door unless they are coming to visit you. The overhang of the roof provides just the right amount of shade from the all-day sunshine. The penthouse floor provides not just the best views but also unprecedented privacy from passing beach walkers. You hardly need shades (although we have electric ones). A unique design difference applies only to the three units at this end of the building....they have a reversed floor plan which eliminates a view intrusion from the next door lanai. True privacy and the best beach view on Sanibel are the result. You may never require other entertainment but there are 3 flat-screen TVs with VCRs and DVD players just in case. We also provide unlimited USA phone calling and a top-end cable channel subscription.

Perfect for time on Sanibel
Fran and Barry’s condo is the best location that we’ve stayed at in more than 10 trips to Sanibel. The unit is close to the beach and the views of the gulf are great. The unit is in perfect condition and set up for convenience. Barry checked in to make sure everything was ready and to inquire about any concerns. The location of the island beach club is ideal for getting around Sanibel avoiding the typical slow traffic on Periwinkle drive. We had a great week.
Fran and I are delighted with this excellent review and most gratified that Matt took the time to write it. Our intention is to deliver this same experience to all our guests. It takes hard work and considerable investment, but when we please guests, we find it all worthwhile. Island Beach Club P6D is a magical place. We hope to welcome Matt and his family back again and we promise the condo will be even nicer after our bathroom remodel this summer.
It just doesn’t get any better than this!
This was a repeat stay at P6D and it was just as great as before. The view is absolutely awesome with floor to ceiling windows just as if you were on the beach itself. Both sunrise and sunset views are beautiful. The condo is very thoughtfully designed and furnished. The kitchen is extremely well stocked with quality appliances and utensils. My husband and I have stayed in numerous condos and chalets through the years. This is the best!!!

What an amazing time!
From the moment we walked through the door, we knew we were in for a magical experience. Once we pulled our selves away from the view, we appreciated the nicely decorated and comfortable condo. We never even ate out! Had all our meals using the well stocked kitchen and the amazing view. If we had any critiques, it would be that the pillows needed to be firmer or maybe more of them, but it might be impossible to satisfy everyone's pillow wants. Let's get back to that view. Stunning. We also had fun playing shuffle board and using the gas grills to grill the grouper we picked up at the Farmer's Market. All the people we met in the complex were also very nice and friendly. Great time.
Fran and I are delighted we met your hopes and expectations! We see you've already re-booked this same week next year and look forward to welcoming you back to our magic place.

Thank you for taking the time to review our performance. We try very hard to keep our condo in excellent condition. It would be most helpful to us to know specific items where you found us lacking.
We have contracted for a major bathroom remodeling in Aug/Sep 2018 because we realize that both of them need updating with new cabinets, mirrors, lighting plus a new shower for the master.
Our concern is whether you found other issues that need our attention. If so, we need specifics so we can address them as well.
We are not upset when a less than 5-star review comes in--we need to understand how our guests are experiencing our condo and hear it in their own words. So we encourage all who stay with us to be frank and share their views.
Our promise is that we'll take the comments seriously and with good grace. And then work to remedy the things we can control. We want all our guests to leave feeling they've had a perfectly wonderful vacation in our magic place.

Our guest responded and provided excellent, specific feedback which included a few issues we'd missed. We thanked her and plan to address most of them this year. It will be a big cost year on top of the remodeling, but we intend to keep our magic place in top condition.
This condo on Sanibel Island is perfect. It’s centrally located to make it easy to get to anywhere you want to go. The condo is equipped with everything you could possibly need, including things like salt and pepper so you don’t have to go buy stuff like that if you are cooking at home. The views are amazing! Floor to ceiling windows all across the front provide a beautiful view when you don’t want to be outside. The screened in porch allows you to have the sights and sounds of the beach without the sun. Beach towels, beach chairs and umbrellas are all provided. We had a wonderful time in an awesome condo! We highly recommend this beautiful beachfront condo!

The 'Ding' Darling National Wildlife Refuge is part of the largest undeveloped mangrove ecosystem in the United States. It is world famous for its spectacular migratory bird populations. You may also see alligators and fish hawks doing their thing.

The remaining balance may also be paid online with VRBO and is due 60 days prior to your arrival date. VRBO will send an automatic email payment reminder 7-days prior to the due date.
