Tranquil Family Retreat

  • 4 of 5

What a wonderful home! It played a prominent role in our vacation. From the start of this booking, Jennifer was helpful, sweet and quick to respond. Our family ranged in age from 70 to 10 and this home, set in this valley, was so easy to live and relax in. It had everything we could possibly need. It's a short drive to anywhere and the road in wasn't too treacherous for us at all, after the first run. Stunning views make you want to creep along the drive, anyway. Even with some road work going on down the lane from the house, it was managed well and was a quiet place to wake up/come home to following our active days.

The beds were perfect and with the evaporation cooling system, we could leave windows open in order to take advantage of the cool nights. Temps were in the 90s during the day and 60s at night. I think the cooling system isn't as good as central air for keeping the home cool during a few of our high 90s mid-days, though (that's the only reason I knocked a star off) but, for the most part, we were gone during the heat of the day. For heat's sake.... I'm happy we went no later than early June.

After several vortex hikes, our favorite activity was to chill-lax at what we considered to be our neighborhood pool - the Crescent Moon Park - just a minute up the road. (Go mid-week) A car full is $10 (well worth it) and the walking trail to Cathedral Rock is flat, shaded, pretty and ran next to a wide stream that led us to several body-quenching, red-dust-removing swimming holes. The further down the trail you hike, the less people you have to share your swim with. While we never made it to the popular Slide Rock, we think this was way better for our group. (Bring non-slip water shoes if you can. We didn't & were fine.)

We also recommend a visit to the Sedona Heritage Museum ( as well as shopping/browsing at the Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village ( We also went to the Grand Canyon for a Sunset Jeep Tour. That was a good choice and gave us the opportunity to look down into canyons instead of up - not to mention the outrageous sunset!. That drive took all of 2 hrs each way - mid-week - but we're glad we did it.

It was our first trip there. Sadly, the full-moon made star-gazing poor but allowed us views of some passing javalina, instead! The word "magical" can't be used enough to describe our visit. Thank you, Carpenters (and Sharen) for such an inviting place of rest & renewal.

Spectacular scenery surrounded the beautiful and spacious house.

  • 5 of 5

There was so much to see and do in the 5 days we stayed at the property. When we weren't hiking Devil's Bridge, Munds Mountain, driving to Page to see Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon, taking a helicopter tour of Sedona, we stayed around the house and walked the creek to several roped swing water holes and Cathedral Rock which offered the best views of the area. A late night campfire by the creek satisfied our need to rest our muscles from all the day's adventures. I highly recommend this property for the location, peacefulness, beauty, and amenities offered.

Best Sedona has to offer!

  • 5 of 5

4 couples - 4 nights This place was fantastic, and worked perfectly for us. We are mostly a MTB crew, with a couple of hikes thrown in. Our trips are not about eating out, but eating in - and getting some great biking in. Since we purposely bring food, having a decent kitchen is necessary. And it was, however all of the cookware was very used non-stick, so I'm glad I brought my own stainless skillet. It was very clean, and tidy, with comfortable furniture. Loved the dining table for 8. CasaDeLuna was decently appointed, with comfortable furniture and beds. The location was by far the best in Sedona. Simply amazing views and peaceful setting. We will be back! LOVED IT!

Casa De La Luna is located in a very private valley with incredible hiking, swimming holes and ancient Native American petroglyphs. From a birds eye the home is less than 1/4 mile from Red Rock Crossing State Park-the most photographed area of Sedona.
