Guest Apartment, quiet Kailua-Kona neighborhood, Air Conditioned

This spacious, well appointed apartment is located in Kailua-Kona, Big Island, on one acre of land, on a private road, and overlooks 15 acres of grassland and jungle, with background ocean views. At 938 feet above sea level, the property enjoys morning and evening breezes, cooler temperatures, and spectacular sunsets. This apartment is one of two ground level apartments in a two story private home (owners reside in the 2nd floor living space); it is the right unit in the photos taken facing the sliding glass entrance doors. Each apartment has a separate outside entrance which is located on the opposite side of the house from the owner’s 2nd floor entrance. The owners are very quiet and considerate of guest privacy but they are always available to answer questions, make suggestions, and provide directions.

The apartment has one large bedroom, with a high quality queen sized mattress, one bathroom, and a dining/living area/kitchenette. The apartment sleeps a maximum of 2 people.

The home is conveniently located just off of Palani Road and it is only a 13 minute drive from the Kona Airport (KOA), a 7 minute drive to the Kailua-Kona pier and the Ali’i Drive “old-town” tourist and restaurant district, a 5 minute drive to Walmart, and a 10 minute drive to Costco. Additional attractions include multiple nearby world-class snorkeling, swimming, sunbathing, surfing, and turtle/whale watching beaches, multiple golf courses, and numerous coffee plantations, farmers markets, restaurants, historic sites and other tourist attractions. As an added bonus, the property is a great spot for bird watching, including wild parrots, kalij pheasants, francolins, wild turkeys, cardinals, saffron finches, various song-birds, pueo (Hawaiian owl), and 'io (Hawaiian hawk).

Additional amenities include air conditioning, 40" cable tv, highspeed internet, barbeque grill, outdoor dining area, shared laundry access, use of snorkeling gear, beach towels and beach chairs, and off-street parking for one car per apartment. Also available, upon request, is a portable mini-grill and a portable Coleman camping stove, for use during your outings. The unit has newer furnishings, is very clean, and has everything you will need, including stove/oven, microwave, toaster, drip coffee maker, French press, water kettle, pots/pans, dishes, silverware, knives, cutting boards, can and bottle openers, cooking utensils, clothes iron and ironing board, towels, sheets, blankets, pillows, blow dryer, paper towels, Kleenex, and toilet tissue. Also included in the rental price is a welcome snack basket, an assortment of cold drinks, and coffee fixins, to hold you over until you can go to the grocery store.

Note that an excise tax (in lieu of sales tax) and a temporary accommodations tax will be charged in addition to the daily room rate. As required by Hawaii State Law, the owners’ Hawaii Tax ID Number is W76311435-01.

The property is also centrally located between multiple tourist attractions ranging from Volcano National Park, to various historic sites, to elegant plantations, spectacular botanical gardens, and tropical adventures including kayaking the Kohala flume, ocean kayaking, and zip lining in Hawi.

Note that the two units can be joined by opening a privacy door which can be unlocked only by the owner.

Great stay!

Lisa and Martha have created the perfect Hawaiian VRBO oasis. More than comfortable accommodations, which appear to be brand new (and are sparkling clean), near to town but nestled on the hillside at the end of a quiet dead end street. What could be better? Well, a load of snacks and refrigerator items to welcome you, all the beach gear you could imagine, private parking, and just one other unit next door. On top of that, our hosts were very responsive to our occasional texts with questions, and gave us some great local travel tips. Can't recommend this property highly enough!

Fantastic vacation property!

My wife and I absolutely loved our very short stay at this property. Lisa and Martha were excellent hosts and extremely accommodating. The vacation property is in a perfect location. Minutes from the airport, Costco and many other stores and restaurants can be accessed in minutes. The property came with exceptional amenities. The cleanliness was beyond our expectations. Lisa obviously is passionate and wants her guests to experience the true atmosphere and daily living on Big Island hospitality. The volcano is a two hour drive away, the turtles, the mountains....it is all gorgeous!! Morning coffee on the patio was "crazy " fantastic....the landscaping , flowers, banana tree, papaya trees and pinnapple plants along with all the bird sounds are etched in my " happy place" forever! I strongly recommend this property to anybody wishing to experience Big Island. We can't say enough for our hosts, Lisa and Martha.

We are certainly looking forward to a much longer Big Island vacation in the future and yes....we will be staying here again!!

In a word, superb!

In a word, this condo is Superb! We arrived late afternoon after a busy day of sight seeing and beach time. We walked in to find a big basket of all kinds of snacks, more than we could eat during our three day stay, and a bottle of champagne for our 30th wedding anniversary. But wait, there's more, we opened the fridge to find more food and cold beverages. The hospitality of Lisa and Martha was amazing. The condo was spotless and had everything we needed. They even have snorkeling gear and boogie boards you can borrow. There are chairs and a table outside the condo where we enjoyed sitting, enjoying the weather and the beautiful garden they planted. On our next trip to the Big Island we will definitely stay here.

Home away from home...

Lisa & Martha do a wonderful job for their guests. They have thought of everything you'll need while on vacation. When you arrive you discover a big bowl of treats and beverages to welcome you, no one does this. The unit is spotlessly clean and comfortable. A beautiful tropical garden to enjoy. Very convenient to Kailua-Kona town and the coast. I have stayed with Martha & Lisa twice and enjoy getting to know them a little better each time. I look forward to my next visit. If you are a regular Hawaii traveler, you will be impressed.

Didn't want to leave

Spent a fantastic four nights in the South room. So many thoughtful extras made it feel like home. Beautiful and clean rooms with an amazing outlook and fabulous sunsets. Best accommodation for our entire holiday! Only wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you Lisa and Martha for making this the best holiday!

Perfect Kailua Kona Retreat!

My husband and I stayed here during the Kona Ironman World Championships where we were volunteering. We had discovered that many of the properties around town had a 2 week minimum stay -- so we were delighted to find this lovely accommodation just up the road from the King K Hotel and race start/finish!

The unit itself is a wonderful self contained apartment and exceptionally liveable! There is an amazing garden fully labelled with tropical fruits and plants just off to the side. Lisa and Martha were wonderful hosts and spoiled us with fresh papaya, star fruit and pineapple straight from their garden. Also, their inclusion of a first night's snack basket and cold beer in the fridge was such a welcoming touch! We wholeheartedly recommend this accommodation and would be happy to visit again any time.
