The HiDaWay or Vintage Rose Cottages are your home away from home, suitable for a grandparents' visit, college graduation, gathering of friends, family reunion, short term work assignments or just a visit to the beautiful City of Denver.

We offer a lovely 1940's Vintage Rose (upper level) cottage renovated with pizzazz to the times, including a kitchen just like in your grandparents' or parents' home. It will bring back fond memories.

The upper level (Vintage Rose) has a retro kitchen, dishwasher, bathroom with shower, bedroom with comfy queen size bed, a second bedroom with a country day bed and desk, and a living room with a full size pull out couch. The upstairs is modified for handicapped access with an access ramp and entry thresholds and accessible bathroom, however not wheelchair accessible to the shower or bedrooms. No washer/dryer this level.

Downstairs in the garden level (HiDaWay) with its separate entrance and it's own fully stocked kitchen, one bedroom with a queen size bed, an extra full-size futon with bedding, dining area, dishwasher, and a washer/dryer.

For both units there is secure parking, Wi-Fi internet access, a Vizio smart television with cable, HBO, Netflix, Pandora, and many other options.

The walk out garden (HiDaWay) and back yard (common area) burst with flowers, herbs for your picking, grapes, and treed privacy. During the winter and cooler months, we offer outdoor propane heaters for your comfort. We are 4/20 friendly outdoors only with private space. The large back yard has plenty of room for frisbee or a game of catch, and auto parking if desired.

For your relaxation, we offer yoga mats, meditation pillows and a large labyrinth in the secluded backyard.

The cottage has the ambiance of family and home. It is the perfect place for entertaining whether you're here for a conference or meeting, short term work, wedding, reunion, need a welcoming space for your family or guests to stay, or just want to enjoy Denver and the surrounds with friends in a casual yet large and warm home setting.

Located in Central SE Denver, there is easy Interstate, light rail, bus and auto access to Downtown. There are substantial dining options very close by (40+ restaurants), as well as the University of Denver, Washington Park, and Cherry Creek all within 2 - 2 1/2 miles.

We would welcome your visit. This property is also suitable for hosting a wide range of small events, including party celebrations, gatherings, weddings, workshops, etc. in the facility. Prices and availability for events are negotiable.

There are many opportunities available depending on your interests. The metro Denver area has too many options to list, most in reasonably easy access from the Cottage (I-25, light rail, bus, etc.).

The mountains are a 1 - 2 hour drive to most locations (Boulder approx 40 min drive), mountain towns 1 1/2 hr - 3 hr drive will get you to many places ( ski resorts, rivers & reservoirs, hiking as near as 30 minutes away, Rocky Mtn Nat'l Park 2 -3 hrs drive, etc). It all depends on what your interests are.

Of course, there are dispensaries throughout most regions of Colorado with one as close as a five minute walk from the Cottage, so we have been told.

Year Purchased: 1989

About the owner: Maureen and I have been partners since the mid-90s and have enjoyed life together, including managing this property and one other in the mountains. I have been an educator pre-school through college, a restoration building contractor and a practitioner in the shamanic arts. Maureen spent most of her career in health care as an RN and administrator. We are both retired, love to travel, bike and work hard to keep track of 5 off-springs and their collectives. Such fun. We are always pleased to share the richness of the properties we have been so fortunate to hold and care for.

Why the Owner Chose Virginia Village, Denver, CO, USA:
This property holds a great legacy, having been built in the year 1940. When it was purchased, most people figured the house would be bulldozed and some new monstrosity would be built in its place. However, an eye was always toward the home's greater potential. It has been fully restored and up-dated way past its original splendor. There is a 1KW photovoltaic solar system, on-demand hot water, an 8 zone hot-water baseboard heating system, and believe it or not, a labyrinth set in the off-street parking accommodation in the back yard. In 2008, just before the economic downturn, the excavation for the garden level walk-out took place, resulting in a position of no ability to turn back, yet the economy what it was, I would think you might be able to imagine some of the pain that ensued. However, no place to go but forward. The walk-out area has become perhaps the greatest of the many unique features of this property. Due especially to the shamanic practice that has taken place there from roughly 2008 also, there is a 'sacred space' quality to this property, which you may well sense upon and during your stay. This property is very special essentially in the heart of Denver, though it is to the SE Central part close to I-25 and Colorado Boulevard, should you know Denver at all. Colorado Blvd is the busiest thoroughfare between Chicago and San Francisco, yet you would never know it as this 'City Cottage' is truly a unique hideaway right in progress's path. Come stay with us and we will do our level best to make your stay memorable and so enjoyable, that you just won't know what to say.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Depending on traffic, the easy on/off to the interstate allows for accessing the downtown sometimes in less that 10 minutes. There are buses along Colorado Blvd that connect to a light-rail station about a mile as the crow flies (a walking bridge to be eventually built that will facilitate access by foot or bike safely), and walking distance to any number of restaurants, grocery and every other conceivable type of merchant you can imagine. In other words, private, yet extraordinary access to the beautiful City of Denver and its many venues for fun in every imaginable dimension. Come to the high country where you can go to the mountains to get higher up or just stay in your surrounds and accomplish something along the same lines. We welcome visitors of all makes and descriptions. Also, pets are considered when they are mature and well taken care of.
