Pike Lodge is a two queen size bedroom lodge (new mattress & box springs June 2016) located on 650 feet of sandy Milakokia Lake frontage, great for swimming. It is a quiet, serene setting surrounded by mature pines & hardwoods. It is about an hour west of St. Ignace off US 2 and has a living/dining room, kitchen, and in-door plumbing facilities (there is also an outhouse for the rustic feel, if you prefer!). There are two, queen size fold out couches in the living room and a rollout bed stored in enclosed breezeway along with the gas & charcoal BBQ grills and the outdoor furniture. There is an electric stove with oven, refrigerator, “Mr. Coffee” coffee maker, toaster, microwave oven, blender, pots, pans, plates, bowls, glasses, silverware, and cooking utensils. So all you need is your linens & groceries. There is a 14-foot aluminum rowboat with two adult & two children’s life jackets, oars and an anchor.

Things you need to bring:

- Sheets (2 queen size beds, 2 queen size sleeper sofas & 1 twin rollout), pillowcases, sleeping bags, some blankets. There are pillows & a few blankets there.

- Towels, personal & dish.

- Soap, personal & dish.

- Insect repellent.

- Paper products. (Paper plates, paper towels, paper cups, toilet paper, napkins)

- Garbage bags.

Optional:

- Folding chairs.

- Fishing gear – for Northern Pike, Walleye, Perch, Small Mouth Bass and other pan fish.

- Outboard motor (and accessories) up to 15 horse. Motors can be rented in Curtis.

- Extra life jackets. Two adult & two children jackets are available.

- BBQ coals & lighter fluid. A grill is there. There is also a propane grill with gas included.

- There is some firewood available as dead fall in the woods for the beach fire pit or fireplace. Please do not burn pine logs in the fireplace, as the pitch can cause a chimney fire. If you plan to have a lot of fires you might want to buy firewood. Please DO NOT cut any of the trees.

- Drinking water. There is a deep well that was installed in 1998 and a Brita water filter pitcher is also available.

Shopping: Newberry: Two supermarkets, Mac’s at the top of the hill on M123, and Rahilly’s IGA downtown near the RR crossing. Manistique: Jack’s Super Value on US 2 next to Shopko, and Save A Lot across the siphon bridge in town. Local convenience items: Bob’s Stop & Shop at US 2 and H33 (road to Curtis); Scheall’s Motel on US 2 approx. 1 ½ miles west of E. Milakokia Lk Road; BP gas Station, US 2 and M 77, six miles west of E. Milakokia Lk Road.

Misc.:

- Please do not bring any ORV’s as this is a quiet lake & we don’t want to disturb the neighbors.

- Pets need to be cleaned up after, all waste from animals cleaned up from yard - PLEASE BE VERY DILIGENT IN THIS. Please do not allow them to dig and THEY NEED TO BE KEPT OFF THE FURNITURE, in consideration of other guests with allergies.

When you leave, please clean the floors, kitchen & bath for the next group, this allows us to keep the rent low by not having to hire someone to clean. Please make sure the yard is clean and you haven’t forgotten any items you brought with you.

Please make absolutely sure you clean out the refrigerator. This includes all condiments and leftovers. There is no trash pick-up so you will need to take it all with you. For three dollars and fifty cents per bag the Sunoco gas station in Engadine (M117, one mile north of US 2) will let you use their dumpster. Please be sure that all lights and fans are off and lock both front and back doors. Thank you.

Please do not leave the key at the cottage. Please bring it home with you to return it to Tim or Carrie via mail or make other arrangements. You may also have the option to leave it with John and Julie.

Thank you.

My family and two dogs had a great time. Such a beautiful and secluded cabin.

  • 5 of 5

Our week was wonderful. The weather wasn’t always cooperative, but it didn’t deter us from enjoying our week of vacation. We kayaked, fished went for walks. Our two dogs also had a great time in and out of the water. The lake was stunning! We heard loons on a few of the days, and watched a beaver swim back and forth along the shore line. The size and location of the cabin was perfect for us! So quiet and peaceful. We ventured to some of the beautiful places near by, Munising, Fayetteville, Seney National Refuge, Escanaba. I would definitely come here again and recommend it to everyone!

Definitely peaceful.

Great location to be away from it all and yet be able to drive to see the best of the upper peninsula. Great property, great location, great price and great vacation.

We Look Forward to Returning Soon!

  • 5 of 5

My family of eight and I had a wonderful stay at Pike Lodge on Lake Milakokia the first week of August 2018. It was our first time there.

My five grandsons really appreciated the sand beach and the lake. They dug holes and filled them with water, made sand castles, caught minnows, floated on inner tubes and spent hours riding around the lake in the lodge’s 14’ aluminum boat (We rented a 10 hp motor in Curtis, 15 miles north on H-33).

The kitchen had everything we needed to make and serve meals for nine people, including gas and charcoal grills for outdoor use. Two mornings we picked blue berries near the fire-pit and had berry pancakes for breakfast. The bushes were loaded and the berries were far sweeter that store-bought.

Fortunately, we could eat all our meals outside on the picnic table so clean-up was a breeze. Every evening we sat around the campfire, making s’mores and watching the sunset on the horizon and reflected in the lake. A few nights it was so clear and dark we saw the Milky Way Galaxy.

Owner Tim Donovan has done a thorough job describing the property on the website. For me, one of the deciding factors for renting it is that neighbors are a football field away on both sides. Day or night Pike Lodge is truly peaceful and beautiful. On the website, be sure to read “Things you need to bring…” This really is all you need to bring with you. The lodge has everything else. It’s clean. It’s private. And it’s reasonably priced.

We’re looking forward to another stay here as soon as we can.

Jim, Gladstone MI

Dream vacation provides seclusion and stress relief

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a fantastic time at Pike Lodge. The house is very well supplied with any kitchen items you need. Even a milk shake maker and a crock pot. Beds are comfortable and the house was clean.

There are neighbors, but there is a nice grove of pine and birch trees on each side of the house. I would guess the property is at least three lots with the house sitting in the middle. I could not believe how quiet it was.

I cannot express the joy on my two and six-year old grandsons faces as they played on the sandy beach and in the lake. The six-year old said "this is the vacation I always dreamed of."

My 15-year old granddaughter and her friend enjoyed walking on the beach and boating. They especially enjoyed meeting a boy whose family owns a house there.

I cannot say enough about the stunningly beautiful sunsets and the night sky. We enjoyed a fire in the fire pit outside every night. The Big Dipper hangs directly over the lake. There is a plentiful supply of downed wood on each side of the house for use in the fire pit.

We ate dinner several times on the picnic table in the yard as the sun was going down.

Tim was very helpful and replied quickly to any questions I had prior to our arrival.

We found Pike Lodge to be just as it is described. We enjoyed our stay and returned home to southwest Ohio well rested and refreshed.

Prior to our trip, our family had some stressful events going on in our lives. When I drove up to Pike Lodge and got out of my vehicle I could feel my stress level going down, down, down.

This is a beautiful place to spend a week with family and or friends. We are already planning to return in 2019.

Tim and Carrie I am so thankful you share this wonderful property.

Perfect as usual!

  • 5 of 5

This place holds a special place to my heart! My family always has such a wonderful time staying at the Pike Lodge. While on our stay this time we went and did a few fun day trips to Tahquamenon Falls, Grand Marais, Seul Choix Lighthouse and Kitch-iti-kipi. This place is such a great place to stay. The home has everything that you could need, except a washer and dryer. If this place had a washer and dryer it would be much easier. It is very secluded and private, which makes it easy to take your pets and kids and not have to worry every few minutes as to where they are and what they are doing. We took lots of walks down the roads and had campfires every night. The stars are out of this world and the milky way was present our whole trip. The beach is nice and clean and the water is super clear. It is such a fun time for our family to search for firewood throughout the property, it was nice getting the kids involved! If I were to buy and vacation home, this would be it! We will be back!
