We really loved this place. Cabin was clean, cozy, and just what we wanted. I stay in chain hotels often and when I go on vaca, hotels are the last place I want to stay. This was just what we were looking for! Knotty pine interior, fireplace, kitchen fully stocked with everything needed to cook your own meals. It is on a large piece of property so it was secluded and quiet. We liked this because of our dogs. The lake was unusually calm everyday so we could easily utilize the rowboat. We used the fire pit every day too.
Thanks for a wonderful stay and we hope to come back!!!!!!
My wife and I only spent 4 days at this cottage and really enjoyed being there. It was clean, cozy, quiet, and was equiped very well. The location was great for our day trips to Seney Nation Wildlife Refuge, Fayette State Park, Crisp Point Lighthouse and exploring 2 tracks leading to Lake's Michigan and Superior.
We had a couple of questions for the owner and their response was very quick. Thruthfully if I had read the information provided about this cottage in the first place, I wouldn't have needed to email them.
The cottage was a very relaxing place to enjoy our vacation with limited phone reception and no TV. We only seen 2 ladies who walked by on the beach, heard a quad/atv drive by very slowly, and one train. We both enjoyed reading the log book that dated back to 2000. All the comments that were logged in had positive remarks.
If you had forgotten an item or run out of something, Bob's Stop and Shop a few miles to the east on US2 is well stocked. Bring cash though as Bob does not accept credit cards. He even gave us both gifts for shopping there, mine was a Yooper Jigsaw Puzzle. Both gifts came with humorous stories!
If there was any advice I can offer is that if you are planning on fishing here, bring or rent a motor for the boat. This lake is big and rowing just wouldn't cut it. We went out once only due to the weather. The wind picked up and well just let me say, I rowed a little longer on the way back in.
We will always keep this cottage in mind during our trips across the UP.
Comfortable home. Right on the water with sandy beach and incredible sunset views. Private with good fishing in deeper water right off the shoreline.
The lake is pristine. The settling is nice and quiet and private. We had a very relaxing stay here. The sunsets over the lake were amazing.
The property is clean, neat and well kept. It has lots of privacy and all of the necessities for a relaxing stay. There is a beautiful yard surrounded by woods so you are secluded from your neighbors. This was especially important for me as I travel with search and recovery dogs. They tend to want to guard their territory which can make a vacation not enjoyable for me.
We enjoyed walking up and down the beach and my retired bloodhound loved running along the edge of the water. She did it three times a day and you could see her smile when she did it. These dogs work hard and train hard as do I. This place allowed us to relax and be ready to go back to training. Thank you so much Donovan's for sharing your cottage.
A very nice vacation home with a lot things that provide the environment of home away from home. A place where one can have peace and quiet when one wants, and yet be very active on the lake when one wishes as well. Many good things to do in the area
