Description

Cobbly Nob Lodge Rental Photos and Description

Great view in great neighborhood. Close to the park & convenient to Gatlinburg

Beautiful Luxury 5bd/3bath home with mountain views from 3 levels.

This beautiful log cabin is perfect get-away for family or friends. Sleeps 12 comfortably + a sleeper for up to 2 more: Master bedroom with King, 3 additional bedrooms with Queen beds, a 5th room sleeps 4 with queen over queen bunk bed, and sleeper sofa if needed in living room.

Convenient to Smoky Mountain national part, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge (Dollywood). Short day trip to Cherokee casino or Biltmore House.

Just renovated cabin

Lots to do with pool table in game room, amazing hot tub, lots of rockers for reading and just relaxing, wrap around porch, flat screen TV's in all rooms, and large projector in multimedia room. Lots of wildlife we often see a family of deer and on occasion we will see a black bear and her cubs.

Our plan is to take a break for until 2016 and then launch a project every few months.

Our neighborhood hosts 3 pools, golf course, and for larger events ability to rent space from the neighborhood HOA office at the very top of the mountain.

We purchased this property late last year. Our friends call our remodel a rebuild as we have gutted 3 levels to take this 1970s cabin into the 21st century. it was very trying and everything took longer than expected. We try to continually enhance the property.

Janan & I are already planning phase 2 construction projects after we pay down some of the debt we took on with this renovation and invite our guests to help set the priority of improvements. These include:

1) Removing the lower level bath tub, pushing the wall back a foot or 2 and installing a tiled shower with modern glass instead of shower curtains.

2) Adding a more inviting front entrance. Basically extending a gable out toward the driveway and a little stone work.

3) Upgrading the main level bath with tile and raise the ceiling a touch.

4) level out area on outside area for installation of picnic table & horse shoe pits.

About Ed Tollefsen

We are a family of 3 with aspirations of retiring to the mountains and managing 3 to 5 properties after 2020.

In 2014, we decided to take over the daily management of the property and Janan took over booking and management. We've had a couple hiccups but overall the experience has been delightful. Our hope is that the cabin & your stay in this beautiful city is a lifelong memory.

Ed Tollefsen purchased this lodge in 2014

Why Ed Tollefsen chose Gatlinburg

We bought the property in October 2014 as a distressed foreclosure. We loved the view and the neighborhood and decided to restore this wonderful old cabin. The renovations took a life of their own as it became a bit of a rebuild.

We have enjoyed bringing this 1970's property up to 21st century standards. Our goal has been to bring modern convenience while maintaining a unique country cabin feel.

What makes this lodge unique

Convenient to Smoky Mountain National Forest, Gatlinburg. short drive to Pigeon Forge, Dollywood, and Biltmore Estate.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our family spent part of the Christmas holiday at Ed and Janan's home. They are lovely hosts. He promptly answered any questions I had before and during our stay. Their home is lovely, well equipped and very clean. We especially loved the wrap around porches ,looking into the mountains. We would definitely stay here again!

Response from Ed & Janan:

Thanks Tracy it was a pleasure having you. Please come again soon. in fact we are open this weekend :).

Heavenly Haven

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't leave a more positive review. The home was immaculate upon arrival and absolutely perfect for our group of 12. The views were spectacular and the property was gorgeous. The kids loved the game room downstairs which allowed the adults some much needed time to themselves! There was seating for 12+ at the dining table and counter so everyone could sit together for family meals. The home was conveniently located a short distance from downtown Gatlinburg attractions and some convenience stores.

Ed was available by phone and text for any questions we had. This was an unbelievable rental and we hope to return again soon.

Owner's Response: Lauren, Thank you for the kind words. I visited just after your stay and made a few minor improvements. The gamebox is hooked up correctly. The fogged over windows are replaced. There were lots of minor things as well. My goal is to keep the property in top shape for each guest. Please come see us again soon. best regards ed

Family Retreat

  • 4 of 5

This was a very nice cabin in the Smoky Mountain Area for our family retreat. It was very spacious and equipped with all of the appliances we had need of. Our only dislike was it was far away from most of the attractions. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and the owner was very easily accessible. We had a small issue with our bathrooms not being cleaned upon arrival but once we notified the owner he immediately attempted to resolve the issue by asking if we wanted maintenance to come and clean them as he had recently switched to a new maintenance company. We decided to clean them on our own and the owner of the property refunded a nice sum of our money back for the inconvenience which he did not have to do. We will and have recommended this property to others. Thanks Ed!!

Owner's Response: Sharon/Latefa, Thank you for staying with us. you noted 2 things: 1) proximity to town. we are within 12 miles of Gatlinburg and our neighborhood is super close to one of many entrances into the Great Smoky Mountain National Forest. Additionally, it is mapped on VRBO & Homeaway. We have another property in the heart of the city. We prefer the view and amenities on this property. Location was/is as advertised, next stay ask me about Smoky Heights. A beautiful log cabin sleeping 8 in town. 2) Cleaning - Its rare but still every bit as embarrassing when we get a cleaning complaint. In this case it was the shower walls not being well wiped down if i recall correctly. Not only did we discuss with our cleaning crew but as a result realized that we should provide our guests access to wider range of cleaning supplies that are on property but locked in the owners closet. Not only was I embarrassed at the oversight but when you said you'd prefer to handle it, i realized i further inconvenienced you with getting basic cleaning supplies. Our intention is to manage our properties with continuous improvements learning off each guests stay and enhancing as we can. Best Regards ed 2)

Summer vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family really enjoyed this cabin for our week long summer vacation. This cabin was plenty big for our two families. The view of the mountains was absolutely breathtaking. The kitchen was beautiful (I would love to have that kitchen in my house). We grilled out most nights and loved the wrap around porch and serenity of nature. The kids loved the big screen TV and it offered so many different movies for them to watch. The adults and kids loved hanging out downstairs playing pool and darts. We went to different attractions each day except for the one day we decided to go to one of the pools. We had the pool to ourselves and really enjoyed it.

We would recommend the cabin to anyone who wants a peaceful setting and an easy commute to all the attractions of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.

Nice but expected More

  • 3 of 5

While the cabin was very nicely decorated I expected a bit more. There was no TV on the main floor and the entertainment center with huge screen downstairs was nice there is not enough seating for everyone to sit. The upstairs bathroom situation was odd as the two upstairs rooms shared a bathroom with a door dividing the shower part and the double sink part. Also the shower heads were very short, so if you are over 5' tall it is tough to shower. The drI've way was also difficult to get in and out of either entrance in Both a car and truck without bottoming out. We had an issue with wasps under the deck that owners called an exterminator out the 2nd day and also came home to quite a bit of water in the kitchen leaking from above the ceiling from deck off the master bedroom after a good rain. All in all the cabin was nice, the views were amazing, but for the price I was expecting a bit more. We stayed in a cabin the previous year just a tad smaller that was much cheaper and came with attraction tickets. The owners were very good to work with.

Owner's Response: Brad, I'm sorry that your stay was not everything you had envisioned. Addressing your issues: 1) Bathroom layouts - we renovated a 50 year old house that had 6 bedrooms and 3 baths. We removed 1 bedroom but with more bedrooms than baths its impossible to have the private baths in each bedroom as is common in many luxury homes built in the last 10 years. 2) We have 6 TVs all with premium channels. With large bay windows, open layout and kitchen island for additional sitting, we had no obvious place to put a TV in the open area consisting of sitting room/dinning room or kitchen. We have discussed it numerous times and dont think it fits the feel. 3) Water - you had torrential rains during your stay. the wind was driving the rain horizontally which caused a lot of water to accumulate on the upper porch. this leaked against the back wall and dripped onto the island and tile in the kitchen. This was the first time this has happened and was a result of not putting flashing against the wall that appeared to be well protected from water. I'm sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for toweling it up. 4) Seating in the media room. I've been contemplating adding another couch down there. I'll evaluate in September. 5) We agree the view is amazing and even without the dedicated bathrooms find the house very comfortable. Thank you for choosing Smoky Mountain Retreats. It was a pleasure having you as a guest.

Spring break 2016

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to this cabin and we enjoyed this visit as much as we did the first time. Last summer we were the first renters in this remodeled cabin and it still looks brand new and has a few additional enchancements, including freshly painted (& colorful) chairs on the wrap around deck. There was a light snow while we were there and the mountains looked gorgeous with the snow on them. The cabin still had that secluded feeling, even without leaves on the trees. It's a great and peaceful setting with the convenience of an easy commute to either Gatlingburg or Pigeon Forge.
