The setting of the cabin is beautiful with a babbling brook just off the back deck, and snow topped mountains surrounding it. The fireplace is continuously supplied with firewood and kindling just outside the front door. It is close to gorgeous views from nearby hiking trails. Overall, it is a very lovely experience we highly recommend.
This was a great trip, quiet and away from the business of the city without having to drive for hours. The owners have the house super ready for you with a fire going and the house warm and comfortable. We loved it!
This is the biggest little cabin! You can sense the history in every nook and cranny and it bring memories of the summer vacations of youth. Discoveries are to be had simply watching the stream a few short steps from the deck. Hummingbirds, butterflies and deer are here. Everything you could want for relaxation and a quick get-a-way or extended stay.
This cabin fit our group's needs and was a wonderful experience. We will definitely consider coming again next time we are in Utah.

Kim booked back in January hoping to get her family together after crazy last year. She just wanted sunshine and fresh air and time. She got it! Great guests. Pamela
This is our 2nd stay at this lovely cozy cabin and it won't be our last. We love coming here with the stream by the hotub and the warm fireplace. The owner gave me restaurant recommendations and we went with Lake House at Deer Creek and EVERYONE loved their food. They are very very nice and our stay was perfect. Thank you so much.
Super beautiful location. Excellent hosts. Can't recommend it enough

Dylan and his family gathered in all of our cabins to celebrate their wedding earlier this year. What a marvelous time they had. As a host, it was the ultimate watching them walk back and forth from one of our cabins to another. No driving, just old fashioned walking from neighbor cabin to another. All in all they rented four of our cabins and one from a friend for a total of five. They recreated community right here on the mountain at Sundance. And when they left, like they were hardly here. Very respectful of our neighbors, our parking, noise and property. This family is welcome back any time! Such a pleasure to meet them all!
This was an awesome place for quick getaway from Vegas. The house had everything we needed. The patio on the stream was exactly the place to relax watching the colorful birds and turkeys. We will definitely be back.
The cabin was clean and well maintained. It is nicely tucked away but easy to find. We had an owl sitting on the porch and a nearby tree almost the whole time we were there. The host was welcoming and responsive to our questions. We will be back again!

It’s really spectacular when the forest creatures come and visit. We sponsor a group called Wild Basin Rescue and Release and in August two great horned owls and a little screech owl were released in the neighborhood and I see one is going to stay!
Corie was here in the area on business and wanted a quiet getaway for family time. Happy the accomodations worked out so well. The Cottage was in great shape, our communication was good and we welcome Corie and family back anytime. Thank you for being a great guest. Pamela
This is a wonderful cottage on the creek. Exactly as described. We had a wonderful stay. We loved sitting on the deck and admiring the creek and wildlife. We also enjoyed the hot tub right along the creek. Excellent communication with the owner. We look forward to returning.

I’m grateful you found the parts of the Hideaway special that I love as well. The sitting and being quiet and taking it all in. Magical. Thank you.
While the cabin is rustic, this was such a beautiful property and wonderful stay. We attended for a work conference and enjoyed the hot tub next to the stream and some much needed relaxation after some long training days. The beds were much more comfortable than expected and we all had plenty of room. The property owner was very responsive and great to reach out to check on us.

Quiet and Serene
Pamela was very accommodating even with the short notice. I appreciated the cottage warming with a fire as I walked in. Sitting creekside enjoying the beautiful sounds and fall day was incredibly relaxing.
It went really well. Enjoyed the fresh snow and the sound of the stream. If we did it again probably rent something with a paved road.
Super cozy and relaxing

Coming to the mountains in Winter is always tricky when it comes to snow and ice. Catching us on the first big snow of the year was why we were so available to assist with directions, driving, parking and negotiating around. Probably a little surprising coming from California to Utah Winter. I’m from Texas so I understand.
So happy your early Thanksgiving dinner went well and you got time to spend with your family and puppies.
Have a great New Year and come back in the summer to really fall in love with this beautiful place.
Be well - Pamela

Beautiful and adorable creek-side cabin
Excellent hosts and such a wonderful property. There is so much space in the home and an amazing deck with a cozy hot tub by the river. 10/10 stars.
There’s a convenient walking path to Sundance and the cabin feels special because it’s tucked away. This would be a perfect retreat for someone who needs to get away, but who wants all the amenities.

Thank you very much for coming and enjoying the Cottage. It’s end of the road location, the path to the Resort over the bridge and through the woods adds so much charm to this cabin. A true favorite of mine as well. And thank you for taking such good care of it. Pamela
Cute cabin very small. Bathroom is much like an RV bathroom and not on the private side. The cabin is cute and in a great location. There was some winter damage that hadn’t been repaired. Could have been more repaired this far into summer. Little unsafe as the porch had a big drop off. It was a pleasant stay but after fees not sure it is worth it.

If only there was two bathrooms !
A more fare score would be 4.5 stars! We loved the place. Everything was super clean. It felt super cozy and comfortable. There are other cabins close by but you still jave your privacy and peace on the stream. The kitchen is awsome! You find everything in it we could prepare home cook meals for 14 people the whole weekend. The hot tub was a nice addition in snowy weather, they provided plenty of towels and robes too.
The best thing about the cabin was the owner , Pamela. She is sweet, helpful, accommodating and very cool lady over all.
Now cons: there is only 1 bathroom and it can get challenging with a large group of people. The furniture are quite old, if you are looking for a modern cabin to this is not it.

I'm so glad you had a good time - next time I'm joining in. It's so fun to see a group of friends just having a good time like you were - good job on coordinating! I agree the Cottage would do wonders with a second bathroom if only the septic system and permitting department would allow.
We call it the Rustic Cabin because it was built in 1963 by a Senator here in Utah. Approximately 18 years ago a huge tree fell on it and crushed half of it. The Senator chose to add space when he repaired so he had room for his family summer gatherings and re-purposed the cinder blocks and the windows from a prominent pool remodel in Provo. It is an older cabin, but like you said it's cozy, comfortable and we keep it stocked well for folks who want to do just what your group did - come and hang out. We do have a vintage couch and chair but every time I want to toss it, someone stays and says it's the best sleeping couch they've ever had. So we countered it with the leather couch and laz-e-boy recliner rockers.
Thank you again for coming - you were delightful. And you did end up being the Fire Goddess I believe! :) Pamela

Cottage on the Stream Labor Day weekend 2014
I stayed with a friend at this cottage over Labor Day in 2014. We loved falling asleep to the sound of the spring. The Deck was by favorite place to hang out, because it faced the spring. That Delights my eyes, ears and soul. The cottage is a great place to gather as we did for Thanksgiving with family and friends. It is suitable for small or large groups. This place oozes with charm inside and out. And for all those (myself included) that love fairies, you will delight finding fairy gates on certain trees and a story telling place where the seats are logs. Attention to detail is obvious. Craftsmen have done the work. The furnishings are comfortable, simple, and done with good taste. I whole heartedly recommend this place to stay, where you might even get a glance at the wee people, if you believe. — Christine Francis.

Reading about your stay was delightful and a reminder of the little touches that make the Cottage a comfortable and fun place to stay. The trails around the property, the tree laying across the creek, the secret places everywhere invites the child within us to come out and play and it sounds like you did just that.
Thank you for coming back twice! We are looking forward to your next visit in March.
I adore the location. I’m in love with the rushing stream out front!! My dog & I had an absolute blast! We had two of our 4 best adventures ever while staying here. The owner Pamela is actually a mentor, not just a host—her communication is so good! I hope to return as soon as possible! If I owned the cabin, I would immediately yank up all the carpet downstairs. I get that carpet upstairs reduces footstep noise. Even removing my hiking shoes in the entryway and wiping my dogs feet with wet-wipes, we still tracked dirt in - which the carpet seemed to hold onto no matter what! Also, carpet always irritates my allergies. Then I’d turn the downstairs room off the den (the one with the back door that opens onto the deck) into a master bedroom. I would turn the A-frame nook at the top of the stairs into a second bathroom with a soaker tub under the window, a larger shower, & of course a toilet. I think these changes would make a better use of the downstairs’ sort of wasted space (adding a more private master bedroom with a closing door and rooflines that don’t require stooping would be super), and another bathroom upstairs would increase functionality and value. I am willing to buy this cabin today if you’re ever selling because I’m now eager to become a fulltime Sundancer!! Thank you Pamela / vrbo for a transformative experience!
The property looks MUCH nicer in the online photos than in person, but that is often the case. But the cabin felt very cramped, and there were only three of us. My two boys are tall - 6'2" and 6'4inches, and they felt almost claustrophobic– especially upstairs, where the roof slopes steeply and gives little headroom. The cabinet is very dark inside and it's hard to see well, even with all the lights on. The stove cooks very unevenly. I know this because we brought up some very expensive grass fed steaks to cook, and I pan fried them. The stove burners cooked so unevenly that it actually ruined our steaks (and I'm a good cook)! The one bathroom is very small-especially the shower! My tall boys had a hard time even fitting inside the shower. The DVD player was broken, the games that were there all had missing cards and pieces and we're in playable, and there was no TV service. We even tried texting the owner about the TV service, but never heard back. Overall, a rather disappointing experience – especially for the price you end up paying with the fees and taxes and cleaning fees stacked on top. Could've stayed at a really nice hotel close by and had a much better experience. The cottage is very mediocre. If things had worked better (as you are led to believe from the amenities listed in the description), our experience would have been much better. We were pretty disappointed. Oh, one positive-- the stream in the back was pretty.

About the host
Hosted by Mountain Cabins Utah
Pamela and Lynn are partners in business and life. Lynn grew up in Springville, Utah, and Pamela in Phoenix, Arizona, and they met up in Austin, Texas, where they maintain their business and a home. Family, friends and the call of the mountains and Utah outdoor lifestyle has drawn them back year after year. Here is the truth - The winters bring you to Sundance and the summers keep you here.
Every day we are struck by what a beautiful place we are so fortunate to be a part of. In our company, our mission is to provide jobs for people. For our guests, our mission is to provide you with comfortable environments for you to practice your own form of relaxation in the beauty and serenity of The Cottage by the Stream.
This property was added to our endeavor for gifting the future called Properties That Make a Difference. We realize so many people and events have allowed us to do the things we love to do, like have this property. So many people have given their time, talent and energy to us and we have decided to allocate a percentage of our proceeds from your rental to helping others. We believe in the power of one - be it one dollar, one action, one kindness - each action creates a result and we would like to quietly create some extraordinary results for others. We have discovered it is the small things in people’s lives that make a difference. Helping their daily lives be easier; a trip to the dentist, new tires for a car, paying an overdue electric bill, sponsoring a child to play sports, donating to a new program introducing children to the art of making films - things that directly affect a person's day to day life. Giving back to say thank you. Paying it forward.
Why they chose this property
We were meandering through the trails and happened upon this quaint little cottage sitting so quietly in the meadow. The property around the cottage somehow made us think about building a Hobbit House here. The stumps, the stream and all the secret places sparked our imagination. We began playing with the idea and started collecting ideas and coming up with designs to build a Hobbit House. We discovered the property was for sale, but because we already had a project we put it on the back burner.
Early this spring I happened to check the listings for Sundance again and discovered the property had a reduction in price. We made an offer and purchased the property from the Watkins family. This was their summer get away and now they were ready to let it go.
After spending time at The Cottage, we realized it was so comfortable and had so much potential already - it just felt good. It made us feel like we were home so we decided to put The Hobbit House plans away for another Spring Project.
This is the second property in Properties That Make a Difference. The first is still being built just downstream with completion set for Spring, 2015. This property is so family-friendly, at Thanksgiving we cooked for 40 of our friends and family and everybody loved it. It feels like home.
We invite you to bring your family and friends and enjoy home away from home, knowing you will be contributing to making a difference. Ask for a list of our contributions.
What makes this property unique
When you walk to the entrance of The Cottage you will see two trees growing side by side near the front door. During the day in the spring time, right underneath the front windows you will see the yellow lilies gently blowing in the gentle breezes like a sea of yellow. Slightly to the left in the yard there is a dead stump that houses purple plants and every now and then a chipmunk pops his head out of the center. There is a unique little bench by the front door where you can view the meadow which is alive with creatures big and small. The resident owl perches in the nearby trees and you can hear him early in the morning hooting and in the evening right after sundown. The turkeys meander through the property pecking at who knows what every day and in the spring the newborns hustle behind their mommas to keep up. The deer drink from the stream, hanging out and then disappear into the trees. There are 2 resident bucks known as ‘The Brothers’ that frequently make an appearance. In the spring the meadow twinkles with butterflies of all colors and the hummingbirds begin looking for nectar. The plastic pink geraniums in the window box are reminiscent of times and people passed that were the guardians of this place. We respect and thank them for their creation.
Together this property and its’ companion property, The Treehouse Lodge on the Creek which is just a few steps up the road, can accommodate 25 people in beds plus outside sleeping in the summer. Let us help you in planning that family reunion. We also have an RV space if Aunt Suzy and Uncle Bob decide to come along. Ask about availability and pricing.
