Todos tus cuidados desaparecen mientras te relajas en la exclusiva playa privada vigilada ubicada a solo unos pasos de tu tranquila residencia privada de 4 habitaciones con 3 baños completos, una gran terraza cerrada que es increíble durante una tormenta y un patio excesivamente grande con parrilla y dos mesas de picnic además de numerosas sillas de salón.

El Whippoorwill, con sus comodidades y el confort de la familia ha sido un favorito de la familia durante décadas.

Nombrado pensando en la familia, los arreglos para dormir incluyen una suite principal privado con bañera de hidromasaje, un dormitorio situado en el centro con una cama de matrimonio, así como, un 3er dormitorio con dos camas individuales y finalmente un cuarto dormitorio con 2 juegos de literas. We really enjoyed our stay at The Whippoorwill. There was plenty of room for family to gather, and spaces to curl up with a book when you're ready for some quiet. The private beach is an easy walk just down the street, or a two minute drive. The kitchen is well equipped and the pantry well stocked with essentials, and beds were comfortable.

Week with grandkids!

As indicated by other reviews, this property is not a brand spanking new modern beach house. But with its privacy, great access to terrific beach, and spaciousness, it has a lot going for it. Communication with host was easy. Would stay there again

Place was nice and we'd stay there again. We loved the neighborhood and the beach. The shed with beach items and ping pong table was a plus Few Drawbacks: The cleaning service did not do a great job, one of the bedrooms were especially dirty. The refrigerator/freezer could probably use replacement soon.

We have stayed at this property many, many times over the last 20+ years. The kitchen and bathrooms need to be renovated. (e.g. Toilet seat hinge broken. Toaster oven too ancient to be safe.)

Beautiful large yard with lots of privacy. House was warm and cozy but was like a maze. Need to label light switches as they are not where expected. Cleaning between tenants was lacking and furniture pads on screened porch really stunk.

Wonderful week in a good cottage

The 4th time we stayed here and it was a wonderful time. Great area to be, a nice private beach, and close to plenty of good restaurants. Well stocked cottage with plenty of space for various activities. A wonderful vacation.

Our favorite beach house by far!

This was the best beach house and experience we have ever had - and we've been coming to Bethany Beach for over 10 years! We all loved this place - our daughters and sons-in-law and 2 grandkids. The house is amazing - plenty of room to gather together and still find a quiet corner to go and read & relax. The house has everything and more we could hope for - books, games, puzzles, beach gear and chairs, lawn games, bicycles, ping pong (yay!) and more. The kitchen is small but perfectly supplied with high quality dishes, cutlery, pots and pans, etc. And the walk to the beach was short and easy. Our host was great! This is by far our favorite place and we plan to come back again and again.

Wonderful Family Getaway

Hi Ellen, we had a marvelous stay at your beach house last weekend. Here are a few of our thoughts for anyone who might be considering renting your beach place. First off, I need to say that it’s a GREAT beach house for any large family. We only stayed two nights but my group of two families would be quite comfortable at your place for a week or even two. A number of the original houses in the Middlesex Beach community are still quite charming after fifty plus years but we think yours has been cared for better than most, it’s certainly larger than most, and your three-room master suite is so secluded from the rest of the house that my wife and I felt like we were staying in a separate home. Your house is set back from the road about seventy feet, and the many trees and open space all around the exterior makes for excellent privacy from passers-by on the road and from neighboring homes as well, so we felt comfortable letting the young children in our group roam free. (Your hammock was a massive hit with that crowd.) Your house is just three short blocks to the beach so we walked back and forth once, and drove another time. Your kitchen is small compared to the enormous kitchens common to today’s new homes, but we found it stocked with all the pots, pans, cutlery and cooking utensils etc. that our group of nine needed, and your VERY large dining room table was appreciated as it probably could easily have accommodated ten adults. Over the years we’ve rented beach houses that had uncomfortable beds and chairs. Your beds are solid and comfortable, and you have an abundance of comfy chairs and sofas that were more than adequate for our five adults and four young children. Your ping-pong table on the backyard deck was a big hit - we found plenty of ping-pong paddles and balls in your shed, and we played until dark both nights. We were also delighted to discover your well stocked game closet and we played so many games of chess and cards that we never got around to Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, or any of your myriad other games. We truly enjoyed our too-short stay and are looking forward to visiting again, hopefully next spring. Thanks for your hospitality! —Bob

Time at Whippoorwill

The property is a very reasonable distance to the beach and has a nice shed containing chairs umbrellas and games. The house itself was comfortable, though a bit dark on cloudy days, and the galley kitchen took some getting used to (which we did). All required kitchen equipment was available. The four bedrooms were spacious enough for each couple. We didn't use the bunk bed room, but that also was large enough for children. Communication with the owner was very swift. We enjoyed our time there and came home feeling very relaxed.

Great stay in a quiet beach neighborhood

The property is very well appointed. Lots of room for people to spread out and find their own space. Short walk to the beach as well as parking passes to park even closer so you don't have to lug your chairs and such. Very peaceful. Highly recommended.

Great fall weekend

Very spacious, comfortable house in a perfect wooded location not far from the beach. Had all the amenities we needed, including a large screened-in porch, and a very friendly and communicative owner, Ellen.

Unique property in a great location

We loved our stay here in the summer of 2020. The house has a very unusual layout, with long twisting hallways leading to "hidden" rooms and a screened-in porch. Half the fun for the young ones in our family crew was exploring the house and claiming their spots in the double-bunk room. The house can be a bit dark in places (lots of dark wood paneling), but was quite comfortable and very clean. It's in a shady, wooded setting. A doe walked by us as we unpacked the cars on arrival day, but alas we never saw another one all week. The beach is great, just a short walk, and uncrowded enough to allow for proper social distancing in this summer of Covid. There is an open air fruit and vegetable market within walking distance. The neighborhood is bikeable for young kids, lots of dead-end streets. The only very minor issues we had is that the outdoor shower is not in service (but there are 3 indoor ones), and bikes, advertised in the listing, were not available so we had to rent (the owner said she was unable to arrange bike maintenance this year due to the Covid situation). The owner was a pleasure to work with and responded quickly to email inquiries.

A great week away

The property is great. This is the second time we have stayed here (hopefully not the last). The cottage was very well equipped with everything you would need including games. It even had a pull down movie screen that we used with our projector to have a few movie nights. Plenty of space for everyone. A great screened in porch that got used for card games, long talks and even a round of the game of Life. The owner is very helpful and easy to communicate with. All around one of the best!

Love Middlesex Beach

The Whipporwill is a traditional beach cottage in the Middlesex Beach community. We love the beach and rent in this community each year. The cottage has an extremely small kitchen that doesn't accommodate more than 4 adults. In addition to the small galley lay-out of the kitchen (only one person can fit in the kitchen at any given time), there is no cabinet space to store food or cooking items for those who enjoy cooking (like us). Another disappointment was the absence of an outside shower - while the house advertises an outside shower, there is a small cabinet attached to the outside of the house - but the water was turned off and the space was full of beach chairs and umbrellas. The cottage does have 4 nice bedrooms, 3 ample bathrooms, and a nice family room - all with hardwood floors. Another plus is the 5 parking spaces on the property. The kitchen is the biggest sticking point in the house - especially for the price we paid and the number of people (12) that the cottage claims to accommodate. The owner is terrific and very responsive to all issues.

Great Beach House

First off, Middlesex beach is a great community. The house is tucked back in the woods, so there is a lot of shade and things stay relatively cool on the screened in porch all day long. You can walk to the beach, which isn't as crowded as some of its neighbors in Delaware. I love the vibe of this house. It has a well equipped kitchen (citrus squeezer!) and a Sonos. Some in our group of 7 were working or schooling remotely, and we all found spots where we could do our work separately and there were spots for us all to gather as a group. One thing to note--this seems to be one of the original style homes in Middlesex, which I have a preference for. It has a low profile, with wood paneling and the interior stays rather dark and cool. Some of the properties in Middlesex seem newer and more sprawling. It just depends on your family needs and preference. I'm definitely bookmarking this for our future stays.
