Stylish, art filled calming space offering 2 private bedrooms, for 4 or fewer
OFFERED JUST A FEW TIMES A YEAR (nuevavidataos.com)
Casa Nueva Vida (New Life), also known as Casa Encantada #5 and was combined with #4 to make one stylish space years ago. This is THE jewel property of the Casa Encantada compound with approximately 2,000 square feet of art filled space and ample outdoor space for lounging, dining or enjoying the shade and nature. Even while sitting in the hottub.
Greetings! You have found THE perfect Taos home for your visit, especially if you wish to stay in someone's HOME and not just a rental property with typical rental property furniture.
We are a well traveled and PARTICULAR couple who are seeking like minded individuals who understand high end furnishings and art. We are offering our beautiful, two-story, adobe casita within an easy walk to the Taos Plaza, restaurants and galleries, but only to a few select couples or small groups per year.
Dating back to the 1700's and sitting on land once farmed by the Tiwa tribe of the Pueblo Native Americans, our casita is an authentic example of early adobe structures. Our main structure dates back to 1910 as part of a family compound. The property then became a Bed and Breakfast in the 1980's named Casa Encantada, and then wonderfully updated in 2005 into several individual residences, retaining the Casa Encantada name.
Our special adobe home was originally two adjacent Casitas which we purchased separately and then combined to provide approximately 2,000 square feet of fabulous interior space and two fully- stocked kitchens.
Consisting of two master-suite bedrooms with private baths, a front sunroom with a fold out sofa and 1/2 bath. Enjoy our two fireplaces, one wood burning and one gas. The gas one can be used year round, the wood burning one is in the downstairs bedroom. You'll definitely find extreme detail at every turn. Enjoy our private, spacious outdoor area with plenty of room to appreciate the high desert climate. Soak in our large outdoor hot tub and watch the stars at night. Or have dinner under our beautiful portal that makes for great outdoor dining in the spring, summer and fall. Light the oil lamps in our fire pit and enjoy a glass of wine before dinner.
If you want a true Taos experience with privacy and serenity, this is the place. Our home and possessions are important to us, so we are particular. Although we would prefer parties that would not include young children (under 10), each offer would be considered on a case by case basis. We love children, we just need to have further discussion if younger than 10. Special rates to couples (2) looking to enjoy our private space. Sorry, although we love them, NO pets are ever allowed. All guests must also be non smokers, although smoking is allowed outside if you pick up after yourselves. No parties or gatherings are allowed in our home, and only approved guests may enjoy it. NO daytime visitors other than those approved on the contract.
Casa Nueva Vida ESPECIALLY welcomes couples for romantic weekends, and offers consideration when the party is just two people, depending on availability and we consider parties up to 4 adults, and 2 children (or so).
NOTE: If you need more sleeping space than we offer or if you have friends/family that are coming at the same time, inquire about the casita next to ours owned by our daughter and her husband. Their studio is listed on VRBO as Casa Encantada #3. #636014 and is right next door, so easy back and forth access. This studio is handled by a management company and you would not be in touch with us regarding the rental and availability for studio #3.

About Mike and Lola
We're a long married couple with two grown children and a constant companion female pointer named Bella that is an amazing frisbee dog and was rescued from a shelter as a puppy. We're fortunate that we have the ability to typically travel during any time period, and for any length of time we choose. We also own homes in a small surfing village, Sayulita, Mexico (sayulitavilla.com) as well as lake houses on the water outside of Austin, Texas so we can move at a moments notice for last minute inquiries that work. We're very particular about our rental partners and only allow with those that understand high end furnishing and quality care of others properties. We will provide you detailed opening and closing documents prior to swapping to assist you in any questions you may have. We are very open to discussion about longer term rental (1 to 6 months) as well as inquiries relating to our Sayulita Mexico Villa and other property there.

Why Mike and Lola chose Taos
We live on a wonderful tree lined, extremely quiet neighborhood within an easy walk to the famous Taos plaza. Located just around the corner from the El Monte Sagrado resort, you can stroll over at night and enjoy their bar and/or fine dining, as well as their spa. Our home is adjacent to wooded land owned by the Wurlitzer Foundation which is protected and private resulting in a peaceful stay fro our guests. Near complete privacy once you're in our property, you will only hear the leaves rustling and the birds singing. During the summer, Magpies nest in the trees behind our home and you'll enjoy seeing them come in to roost around 8pm every night. Although there may be many rental homes available in Taos, there aren't many that have the history and authentic adobe structure that our home has. Massive vigas in the ceilings, thick plaster walls built over hand form bricks and diamond finish glazing on most of the walls make Casa Nueva Vida a rare find. In addition, you have two full kitchens to cook and entertain from, as well as private outdoor space to engage with nature and your surroundings, or with close friends and/or family.
What makes this Bungalow unique
Taos is, or has been, home to many famous artists, actors, writers, musicians and poets. You'll find those who live here to be very friendly, non- judgmental, full of interested stories due to diverse backgrounds. We're also home to the Taos Pueblo, designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. You can ski, float the Rio Grande River, hike the many trails nearby, mountain bike, fly fish, see incredible musicians all over town most nights, or drive the Enchanted Circle. Shopping includes strolls through not only the historic plaza but also quaint back streets including Bent, Ledoux and Dona Luz. Don't miss the tiny village of Arroyo Seco. You will see why this artist colony has lured creatives and their contemporaries from NYC, Paris and beyond since the early 1900's. Once you visit, you'll see why Taos was chosen as one of the 20 best small towns in America (#2) by Smithsonian in their May 2012 online issue.

Charming and Chic! More than a Home Away from Home
My family of 4 stayed for a Christmas getaway. While Mother Nature May not have cooperated by bringing us buckets of snow everything else was perfect. Not only is the home itself beautiful but it is filled with stunning furnishings and unique artwork. The 3 bedrooms and living spaces are comfortable with lots of areas to mingle or have alone time, and with two full baths and one half bath our family with one teen and one “tween” was able to get ready for the day without being on top of each other. The kitchens (yes, 2) had everything we needed to cook breakfast and a special Christmas Eve dinner. We were within walking distance of many shops and restaurants and had an easy drive to Angelfire for snow tubing and skiing. Sipapu and Taos Ski Valley were also a very short drive away. The fire pit was awesome and while we ended up not using the hot tub (crazy!...still don’t know how we didn’t get in) it was clean and warm and if perfect size for 4. Mike and Lola were great hosts with suggestions for meals and ideas for things to do. Very responsive and left detailed instructions for everything. I could easily see coming back for a romantic getaway, a great place for close friends to hangout together, or bring my family again. Thank you for sharing your special home with my family, it will always be a wonderful memory for us all.
Jennifer and family,
Thank you so much for the wonderful review. We were so happy to share our special Taos home with you during the holidays and hope to have you return someday. The summers are beautiful here as well, and our door is always open to you.
Mike and Lola.
Awesome place with great art and interior. Hot tub great. Loved it!
Thank you to the Scott family for choosing our adobe home in Taos! Feel free to reach out and visit anytime, we'd be happy to have you back.
Best regards, Mike and Lola
Artistic gem with all the comforts of home!
My family and I stayed in this beautiful, artistic home over Spring Break. First off the house, is stunning - with this history of Taos Pueblo's and Mike and Lola have done an incredible job of decorating with unbelievable art. It was like being in a gallery, yet cozy and intimate and perfect for a family of 5. My young girls love the hot tub (we did too). We also made a fire every night outside and made smores and told stories. The location is perfect - super easy to get into the cute galleries/stores and about 20 minutes away from the ski lift (depending on how my husband was driving). Mike and Lola were incredibly thoughtful hosts! They have a bar set up, in case you have forgotten or ran out of a bottle of wine. They only ask that you replace with the same or better bottle. Mike continued to check on us throughout the week. It was hands down one of the best visits and we will be back!
Thank you so much Liz (and family) for your wonderful review.
When Lola and I decided to offer our special Taos home for just a few dates a year we had hoped we would find select couples and families that understood high end design and appreciate the furniture and artwork we've collected over the years. Your family was a perfect choice for us, and we thoroughly enjoyed having you stay at Casa Nueva Vida. We wish you the best and hope you have a great summer!

An exceptional stay in Taos
We had the good fortune to spend a week at this fabulous property.
The furnishings, artwork and unique living spaces in this home made our Taos vacation a very special experience.
We loved the three outdoor seating/dining areas and hot tub. The two bedrooms have ample space for sleeping and lounging. It is very easy to walk to town from this quiet and peaceful location.
The hosts were welcoming and available when we had questions. Highly recommended!
We're just a few blocks to the famous Taos Plaza, an easy walk for most times of the year.
