About Julie O'Connell
Hello 2018 Mountain Travelers and Welcome to The Pine Cone Casita! What's new for the 2018 season? We just put a brand new Samsung, 49 inch curved screen TV, in the Casita. You have full access to all your favorite TV shows on DirecTV, but now the screen is absolutely spectacular to watch. Tom and I are so excited to share our Pine Cone Casita with you. We bought this beautiful property in 2013 after traveling to various places around the US, looking for just that special place to retire and enjoy. We knew we both wanted to be in the mountains somewhere that had excellent golfing for Tom, and miles and miles of trails for me to hike on. So, after visiting Tom's sister and her husband in 2011, at their Villa in Torreon, we were hooked! Tom played the golf courses of Torreon, the Cabin and the Tower course, and was just awed by the mountain courses' beauty. We knew this was the place for us! When we found the property on Yarrow Lane, we just fell in love! it has everything we were looking for in a home. The Pine Cone Casita would be perfect for visiting guests, travelers, and family alike, and we know you'll be very comfortable during your stay!

Why Julie O'Connell chose Torreon
You will love the peace and quiet of the Pine Cone Casita, as we are on the back of a cul-de-sac. Because the Casita doesn't have a full kitchen, we don't take reservations for longer than 10 nights. We just don't want you to come up to Show Low and be disappointed that there is only a grill for cooking. Our property is located on the 17th green of the Cabin course of Torreon. We just love the astounding beauty of Torreon. The air always smells so fresh and piney from the trees. We think you will enjoy going for long walks around Torreon and the golf courses. Or, explore Show Low, Lakeside and Pinetop. There is so much to do in the White Mountains. There's hiking, biking, hunting, fishing, and all the outdoor activities the mountains offer. Or, if it decides to rain, you can venture out to our movie theatre in Show Low, or head up to the movie theatre of Pinetop. There are restaurants to try and unique shops to explore, The weather is spectacular in the summer. If you are looking to escape the heat of the Valley, or are just looking for a really unique place to get away, The Casita would be the perfect place for you to stay to enjoy all the amenities Show Low, Arizona has to offer. INAPPROPRIATE FOR CHILDREN. SORRY, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Fantastic casita in a beautiful community in the White Mountains!
What a fantastic place! Truly, you could live in this "little house" full time; it's that functional and spacious! Two bedroom suites with their own full bathrooms, a great kitchen, spacious living room with fireplace, a wonderful deck out front complete with a barbecue, and in a gorgeous setting in the tall pines. What more could you ask for?! I just hope this unit is available for rent in the future. It will be our "go to" place as long as we can rent it! The Torreon community is world class, and this unit being in a gated portion adds to the privacy and security of the stay.
Greg, thank you for taking the time to write a really nice review! Tom and I are elated that you and your wife had such a great time in the White Mountains, and the Casita worked out really well for you.
Please let me know when you two are planning a return visit to Show Low. We'd love to have you stay in the Casita again!

small but very nice
we spent 5 days in the casita among the pine trees and the birds. very quiet place. The casita is easy to get acquainted with. We would have like to have a stove top to be able to cook and a real toaster rather than the toaster over which is of minimal use. Another questionable point is the softness of the leather chairs and sofa. You sink in it and you are often ending up with back troubles.
the outdoor patio is good for 2 people with chairs. a small sturdy table would be great to put drinks and other bits and pieces if you have lunch or dinner outside.
Other than the two points above, we really enjoyed this sunny stay. Bath towels are plentiful, and the small fridge/ice maker is a blast to use. Nicely built little home.
Sweet and Cozy Casita
We had a wonderful visit in Show Low. Connie, the property manager greeted us and was friendly and helpful. Julie was so easy to communicate with. The Casita is fabulous. Just the right combination of rustic and elegant! We would definitely recommend this rental and will stay again when our travels take us to the top of the mountain.
Kathleen, thank you so much for your kind words regarding the Casita! Tom and I are so happy that you had a delightful time in the White Mountains. Any time you plan to return to Show Low, please let us know. We would love to have you stay in the Casita with us again.
Small but very nice.
Very comfortable beds and nicely furnished casita. The kitchen was small with no stove top and small, compact refrigerator but it was perfect for our needs.
Show Low is the place to be and the casita is where you wanna stay...loved all the services of a little town...Safeway...we ate at The House 8 out of eleven nites...from here the possibilities are endless for fun . We road every road in a 150 mile radius....Meteor crater was a fun day even though admission was steep in my opinion. Loved, loved loved the Petrified Forest NP. Drive down Hiway 60 to see Salt River Canyon. Go to Greer for Lunch and ride and see all those pretty lakes in between. We are tree huggers and love seeing beautiful scenery. Or, you can play golf. Julie and her husband Tom were there while we visited and I loved having them nearby as they were so fun to visit with and have as a local resource for advice and tips. They are so nice. I called him Steve the whole time and he never corrected me. How nice. Plus he is really handsome. Out of all the surrounding communities we visited we are so glad we chose a Show Low and the Casita because once inside the Torreon it's as if you are one hundred miles out in the woods...so nice and quiet in the pines! I did not miss having a stove. I view that as a gift. We love the Keurig and the fridge with a great ice machine cause we packed our lunch everyday for our excursions. Comfy beds ,seating , ceiling fans, good wifi tv even with the SEC channel. My husband could survive there in the fall. This morning we awarded the walk in shower the best in any VRBO we've stayed in. Visit here ...you won't regret it. My new motto is "Its later than you think...."

Perfect getaway in the White Mountains
A lovely setting in the woods. The casita is attractive and comfortable. Has everything you need for a short stay. Wonderful, peaceful retreat from the city and the heat. Owner is very accommodating. Would love to return!
Connie, thank you for your kind review. Tom and I are so glad you had such a fabulous time on your vacation in the White Mountains! Thank you for sending me pictures of everyone. Really made me smile. Come back any time!
Show Low, Arizona is a truly charming city. It is The Gateway to Arizona's White Mountains. The quality of life in Show Low is unequaled anywhere. There is a wealth of things to do in the mountain community. Show Low is known for its summertime golf. The weather is so comfortable, and the smell of pine trees permeates the air around you. You can enjoy 7 different courses. Our favorite golf course is, of course, Torreon's Cabin and Tower courses, but wonderful public courses to try are the Silver Creek Golf Course, and Bison across the street from Torreon. The wildlife and outdoor recreation offered in Show Low is spectacular. You could see deer, elk, bear, antelope, mountain lion, turkey, and a large variety of birds and animal species. We've had entire herds of elk run right through our backyard! There are over 2 million acres of National Forest land adjacent to Show Low and over 40 lakes and streams in the immediate area. Camping and hiking are very popular activities. The White Mountains Trail Systems are the pride of the Show Low community, and provide over 200 miles of trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding. Our favorite trail is the Mount Baldy trail system. Mount Baldy is absolutely stunning, as you wind your way along the creek, and view amazing mountain peaks all around you. After your hike at Mount Baldy, we'd recommend that you stop in Greer, Arizona, and eat at either the Rendezvous or Molly Butler's. The history of these restaurants is fascinating, as well! ATV riding is quickly becoming a very popular activity in the surrounding forests. You can also rent a trail horse at Torreon's Equestrian Center, if you'd like to head out into the ponderosa pines. Sunrise Ski Resort is located a short 36 miles from Show Low and offers 65 ski runs and 10 chair lifts. The resort also offers separate snowboarding and cross country ski areas. Other sports recreation you can find in the area is tennis, basketball, baseball, and volleyball. There are over 85 parks in addition to Torreon's Family Center's park that can be found throughout the City. The area casino is the Hon Dah Resort Casino and Conference Center. It houses slot machines, blackjack tables, and a poker room. The center also offers live entertainment 6 nights a week. Just ask us what we would recommend, and we will be glad to give you some ideas!
