About Steve Polanskey

Steve and I live in Lancaster, PA and have always enjoyed vacationing at the Delaware Beaches. Our 2 grown children have fond memories of vacations with extended family and friends in Rehoboth and Dewey Beach. We love the beach atmosphere, but not always the crowds and that is what we found in this location.

Steve Polanskey purchased this condo in 2013

Why Steve Polanskey chose Lewes

We have always loved vacationing at the beach and spent many summers in Rehoboth and Dewey with extended family when our children were younger. When we started searching for vacation homes we looked all along the Delaware shore from Bethany to Rehoboth. The first condo we looked at was in The Village of Five Points. We were actually able to stay in a friend's condo in Five Points on the weekends we spent looking. Not wanting to buy the first thing we saw we continued looking all up and down the Delaware Coast, but kept coming back to The Village of Five Points because of its location and the amenities it offered. Located just east of Route 1 makes it so easy to get into the town of Lewes as well as the Lewes beaches without having to deal with the traffic and congestion of the highway. A car is needed to get to the beach, but many other activities are within walking distance in this community. There are 2 pools, 8 tennis courts, a walking/jogging path and a playground. We really enjoy being able to walk to dinner or just grab a drink at a couple of the restaurants located right in the village about a block from our door. A grocery store, pharmacy, yogurt shop and bakery are all right there too. It truly is its only little village. We have found Lewes to be a very friendly quaint, historic town like something you would see in New England. The beaches of Lewes sit on the bay and are a little quieter and certainly less hectic than the crowds of Rehoboth. We love the beach atmosphere, but not always the crowds. We found this Lewes location gives us the best of both worlds. It is only a 2.5 mile drive to the quiet Lewes beaches or Cape Henlopen State Park, and a 10 minute drive to the action and nightlife of Rehoboth boardwalk and Dewey beaches. Everyone thinks about the beach in the summer, but we discover something new every time we come down and enjoy coming here any time of year.

Impeccable vacation retreat

  • 5 of 5

Not only are the owners very attentive but they keep an immaculate condo! It was well decorated and clean. Only a couple miles from Lewes Beach! The condo is right on the community pond with a fountain that has a calming effect on adults and sleepy, stubborn children. :) I am already planning a trip back when the pool is open. My family of 4 loved the condo and the village. We walked to Green turtle for dinner, walked to the playground and then had a short drive to the beach. Great place!

Beautiful 2 bedroom Condo!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was a beautiful second floor (3 floors total) condo fully stocked for all your needs with a nice little screened in patio with a view of pond. Easy access to everything and everywhere you want. The on-site restaurants are very good and reasonable prices. Had breakfast twice at Arenas ( chipped beef is very good). There's a CVS you can walk to if you need anything. The condo is nicely decorated and has all one needs to be comfortable-great water pressure for showers too :). Communication with owners was wonderful- they were always responsive to emails etc.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and for your communication during your stay, we like to hear from our guests. I know you didn't come for the typical "beach stay", but glad to hear our accommodations and location worked well for touring various breweries and visiting other local sights. It's sounds like the crazy weather didn't put too much of a damper on your fall fun getaway! Steve and Gay

Perfect, Perfect, Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Perfect accommodations, perfect location, perfect weather. Spectacular hosts. Steve and Gay could not have been easier to work with and most gracious. Their unit exemplifies the "Home Away from Home" idea. It definitely became our home away from home as we felt completely comfortable upon walking in the door and unpacking. The unit was clean and spacious and the location could not be beat. We parked our car upon arrival and did not get back into it until we left to go home. Everything was within biking or walking distance. What a great stress releaser this unit was for us. We would highly recommend this unit to anyone reading this review and it is our intention to work out our schedules for a trip back again.

Owner's Response: Thank you Karen. We are so glad you had such a perfect week! September is one of our favorite times to enjoy the beaches ...great weather but less crowds. You are right, the bike trails are wonderful throughout this area and getting even better; there is a new two mile stretch being completed by next year that picks up right across from our back entrance and takes you into the town of Lewes. We are planning a few upgrades to the condo this winter too, so we hope you can come back soon to visit. Steve and Gay

Beautiful, spacious, spotlessly clean condo

  • 5 of 5

Choosing this lovely condo for a long-overdue and much needed vacation was the best decision we've made in a long time. Honestly, everything was perfect -- very nicely decorated, extremely comfortable, and stocked with everything you could need or want. It was just the right size for our group of three adults and two children. We've rented through VRBO before, but this property stands out. What separates it from the others is that it feels like home because it IS someone's home, and it's evident in all the little touches. As someone who is usually skeeter fodder, I especially enjoyed having the screened in porch overlooking the pond. The location is perfect -- convenient to the beach areas, Historic Lewes, and other towns, but not smack in the middle of everything -- and the condo is in a quiet, well-maintained community, within walking distance to a grocery store, drug store, restaurants and other services. We are beach lovers, so that's where we spent most of our time, but we also enjoyed using the tennis courts, relaxing on the porch, and playing some of the board games (I finished the seashell puzzle while I was there - yeah!). And as beach goers, we were so happy to have the beach chairs and umbrellas that are provided. They are such a thoughtful amenity to offer, and we really appreciated not having to lug our own from home. Steve was an absolute pleasure to work with (thanks for letting us stay an extra night!) and provided thorough, detailed information on the condo and the area (thanks also for suggesting Arena's -- my son made a buddy in Alton, their wonderful waiter). We are looking forward to returning again soon. As I said, it's perfect! Thanks for sharing your lovely home with us!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your wonderful review Joy! We know this was a last minute vacation rental for your group, but we are so glad it worked out so well. It sounds like you really made the best of your time and hit all the highlights! We absolutely love having fun renters like you and would be happy to see you return. Thanks also for your note and texts during your stay ... That communication and feedback really helps us keep on top of any potential issues. Thanks again, Steve & Gay

Awesome Condo.

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a week's stay. Everything went smoothly from the first contact until check out. Gay and Steve were great to work with. Prompt response on every email, great description of the condo and advice for places to see, easy check in/out. The condo is very clean, tastefully decorated, and well stocked. The screened in porch was nice for morning coffee or an evening cocktail. We took morning walks and used the pool almost the whole week. Went to a few beaches and loved Historic Lewes. We ate at the Fisherman's Wharf and dessert at 2 Dips. If you wanted to park your car and stay in the complex all week you could with the grocery store and restaurants within walking distance. Great location near restaurants and outlets, etc. If I come back again I will definitely be staying here unless I have more family members and would need to rent a townhouse or single home. My only complaint is the week was too short.

Wonderful condo in Lewes

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time using HomeAway and vacationing in Lewes, DE and thanks to Steve and Guy it was a wonderful trip for our family of four. The owners were wonderful to work with and provided great information in a welcome packet prior to our arrival to Lewes. The Condo is beautifully decorated and very thoughtfully stocked with family games, DVDs, beautiful dishes and many other items that are usually tucked away in the owners closet! We loved having both the easy access to the Lewes beach as well the community pool. The village of five points was very charming and we loved the local coffee/bar of Arena's Deli. Our favorite part of the condo was the screened in porch overlooking the pond…at night it feels like you are beside a beautiful lake. Can't say enough about this condo and the town of Lewes, both were big hits were our family.
