Cozy cottage

This cute small cottage, was perfect for my boyfriend, dog and I. It was a quiet area and steps from the beach! I would stay there again.

Perfect spot by the ocean

Quiet cottage just steps from the ocean. Very clean space and has all the amenities of home. Well stocked kitchen. Communication with the rental agency was quick and thorough. Pets welcome which was a huge plus!

Great spot!

My husband and I rented peppers with our two dogs for 2 nights and it was great. Perfect location, ease of check in/out, and friendly staff. We wish check out was a bit later than 10am since it was offseason, but we look forward to returning soon!

Perfect spot for a long weekend

Peppers is the perfect place for a long weekend. My wife and I enjoyed the close proximity to the beach. Each morning I spent surf fishing while she relaxed on the beach. The fenced in porch was great and let our Maltese enjoy relaxing afternoons with us. You cannot go wrong if you pick this little slice of heaven

Nags Head get away!

Cottage was a cozy, fresh and clean with all the essentials you need! Easy walk to beach and quiet neighborhood. Love the accessibility to restaurants and shops. Perfect week with our pup Walt, loved the beach and so comfortable at the cottage. Thank you! Melanie

Perfect place for beach lovers

My partner and I knew we were looking for a bit of a unicorn in the outer banks: a cottage that’s close to the beach (no highway crossing required), with our own outdoor space and grill, full kitchen, dog friendly, and a small enough place that we weren’t paying for rooms we weren’t using (hard in an area with so many 10+ bedroom houses!). This place fit the bill perfectly, just a short walk to the beach, clean, and with a great little deck where we grilled every evening. It also has a surprisingly comfy couch for evening lounging! M We loved our stay there. The only thing I’d mention is a lot of the communication goes through the rental company and not VRBO (they ask you to sign a short-term lease), and the early check-out at 10 am, but otherwise perfect!

Perfect!!!

I stumbled upon peppers cottage while looking for a nice place to stay for our visit to the OBX. This little cottage was perfect for us!!! The inside is beautiful, the bed is comfy and the bathroom is big enough. It’s was wonderful for my wife and I. We don’t require a lot and like things to be simple. I loved that the kitchen for fully equipped and looked great!! We truly loved “peppers” and would love to return in the future. Email and telephone communications where good as well. Wonderful week in Nags Head. Peppers was just right for the 2 of us, and our dog loved it as well. Comfortable, clean and a very short walk to a great beach. Patio is lovely for drinks and stars. So glad we found it, and fully intend to return in the Spring for a couple of weeks.

Perfect Cozy Cottage!

We loved our weeklong stay at Pepper's Cottage! The newly remodeled cottage was cute and well-stocked. We appreciated the new kitchen appliances and the convenient beach access. We'd definitely stay here again!

A favorite place to stay

I have stayed at this cottage before as well as other Rentals on the Ocean rentals and every stay has been exceptional. The houses are older but so well taken care of and seem to be consistently updated on the inside and out as well as all of the amenities.

Perfect for senior Couple

Property is perfect for2 and a pet. Well equipped cottage for a getaway to the beach. Near handicap beach access and has private beach access. Minimal steps a plus for us. We would rent again.

Great little place and Terrific location

The perfect size for one to two people And a pup or two. Charming bungalow, great amenities. Loved the available seating on porch and deck (though cushions for the rockers and a small table between them wouldn’t be a bad idea.) Great access to the beach and close to grocery stores. Highly recommend!

Another great stay

We previously stayed at the cottage and the entire kitchen was redone. We arrived a little earlier than checkin time and reached out to the property manager who sent over the cleaners so that we could start our vacation early. Once again, a great place to stay and we will definitely return.

Nice place!

We enjoyed our stay at Peppers cottage. Cute and clean. They even provided us a starter pack with paper towels, toilet paper, dishwasher pods, dish soap, and 2 bars of soap. It was alittle hard to find on a dark rainy night. Didn’t realize it was on Laughing Gull Cottages property. Also be aware if you have mobility issues: beach access is nearby but over a dune of soft deep shifting sand. No board walk unfortunately. We asked to have a later checkout but this was not able to be granted even in off season and apparently costs an extra day. We did appreciate being able to bring our large dog along for the stay and will consider booking here again. Location is good in Nags Head.

Fresh fish run

Drove down to buy fresh fish to bring back home. This place was cheaper than a hotel room. Cleanest place we have ever stayed. Has everything you need. Location was perfect. Beach is a short walk. Would stay again.

Our Founder, Dr. Sarah Forbes passed away in 2011. She was a compassionate physician, dedicated to her patients becoming Norfolk General’s first female chief resident of OB/GYN.
In 1958, she became the first female physician to open a private OB/GYN practice in Newport News, VA.
Dr. Forbes was the first woman to be selected to the board, and the first female president, of the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula, where she was honored as a member of the “Wall of Fame” – the first and only woman to be so honored in the club’s 65-year history.

Sarah was often honored for her contributions to the organizations she served, and the community she loved.
Among her many awards were the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities’ Humanitarian Award in 2007, and the Medallion Award which is the highest recognition presented by The Boys and Girls Club of America to volunteers.

She served as president of several community organizations that include the Virginia Peninsula Academy of Medicine, the Newport News Chapter of the American Cancer Society, the Newport News Medical Society, and the Peninsula Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Her generosity benefited many organizations, including the Cancer Society, the Newport News Medical Society, the Peninsula Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Family Planning Council, First Baptist Church of Newport News, the Peninsula SPCA, Mariners’ Museum, Riverside Hospital, and Christopher Newport University.

We are continuing Dr. Forbes’ Legacy
All of our vacation homes are owned by Sarah E. Forbes MD, Trust which continues her legacy by using our profits to make regular donations to the charities she loved.
We take care of the houses like she would have wanted.
