Located at Mile Post 6.5 in Kill Devil Hills, this private unit is located on the ground level of my home. Set in a quiet family neighborhood, the unit is approximately 450 square feet and consists of a large bedroom with a comfortable queen bed, a sitting area with a recliner and an extra chair, a 32 inch HDTV with extended cable package and Blu-Ray player, and a large closet.

The front room has an apartment sized refrigerator, microwave oven, toaster oven, toaster, coffee maker with complimentary coffee, love seat, small drop leaf dining table with two small bar stools, basic cooking utensils and silverware, dinnerware for two, and a 19 inch television with Roku streaming stick. The Roku allows access to Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Videos, and many other popular channels. We also provide an electric skillet and electric griddle for your use. Wi-Fi is also available.

Keep cool in the summer time and warm in the winter time with heating and air conditioning units that are separate and apart from the main house.

Outside, guests have exclusive use of a gas grill with side burner, the outdoor shower with hot and cold water, a sitting area directly outside of the unit, and another sitting area with hammocks and a porch swing. Guests also have exclusive of a covered parking area.

We provide all linens, towels, two beach towels, and two beach chairs, a beach umbrella, two camping chairs, and a small cooler. In addition, we provide an iron and small ironing board, a hair dryer, and other essentials.

We are located less than two-tenths of a mile from a public boat ramp with oversized vehicle parking. Within three-tenths of a mile is a multi-use path that runs adjacent to the Sound (bay) – perfect for enjoying the picturesque OBX sunsets or taking a leisurely stroll, jog, or bike ride. There are numerous restaurants, supermarkets, a movie-theater, and shopping facilities are all within a few short miles.

If you have a small child, no problem. The bedroom can accommodate a portable crib and if need be, we can provide a camping cot with mattress.

Please note, while we are pet lovers ourselves, we simply do not allow pets in the unit. No exceptions, sorry.

There are no cleaning fees added to the price or additional insurance/maintenance fees, just the $100 refundable damage deposit. The damage deposit is refunded within a few days after check-out.

Within a week of your arrival, we will provide you detailed access instructions to make check-in as smooth and painless as possible. Once you arrive, you will find a notebook binder with more information on how to access the wireless, how to operate the television sets, some local insights on good restaurants and attractions, and so forth.

Checking out is just as simple. We don’t have any specific requirements other than to leave the unit in good condition, the same way you would like to find it if it was yours.

In short, we think you would be hard pressed to find a hotel room or similar accommodations on the Outer Banks that provide the same amenities, the same atmosphere, and the same service for less than $100 per day during the summer months.

Having grown up in southeastern Virginia, I have been coming to the OBX on vacation all my life. As an adult, I owned two vacation homes in Kill Devil Hills. Upon retiring from Portsmouth Public Schools as a teacher, I decided to make the beautiful OBX my permanent home.

What Fun!!

Every year for the last several we have stayed in hotels in OBX. But after having great experiences through VRBO all over the southeast we decided to give it a try here in Kitty Hawk. So glad we did. This apartment had all we needed. Close to many, many great restaurants, walking distance to the water and beaches or at least a short drive.

The outside shower is a great plus because we always come back from the beach with sand all over us so it was wonderful being able to get all that off before going inside. We took all our meals out but if you want to cook a light meal it would be no trouble - there was even a BBQ grill for our use only.

Mike and Mary Lee were so friendly and accommodating - they made us feel so welcome.

If you're looking for a small, affordable place to call HQ for your vacation this is it. We even booked for the same week next year on the same day we left!

Perfect little getaway spot!

My wife and I had a wonderful time here. It's within walking distance of the beautiful sunsets over the sound, and conveniently close to grocery stores and restaurants. Would definitely recommend for a getaway for a couple.

Very clean and affordable, close to the beach.

This property is exactly as advertised. Extremely clean, comfortable, and just a drive across the Hwy to get to the surf side beach. (You could walk but traffic makes it very dangerous). Mike was always very prompt in responding to questions prior to and during our stay. We actually ended up having to reschedule our vacation after something came up and Mike and Mary Lee were very accommodating to our need. We definitely recommend staying here.

What a great little place to stay in the Kill Devil Hills area. Very clean, comfortable and convenient. Nice little respite. Loved the outdoor shower. Would definitely stay again. As a couple, it suited all our needs. Thanks so much.
