About The Eagles Nest at Yellowstone

Yellowstone National Park has always held a special place in my heart. I've been visiting the park on an annual basis since 1999 (sometimes several times a year) and each trip is unique and special in its own right.

In 2008, I brought my Dad to Yellowstone over the Thanksgiving holiday and the weather was & crisp but not cold and unbearable. We hiked for several hours every day and had the time of our lives. One morning we set out on an 8-mile hike. It had snowed a couple of inches the previous night and 1/2 mile into the hike we discovered we were following the tracks of a large grizzly bear. For the next 3 miles we walked in the footprints left by the great bear, armed only with bear spray, but never did see the bruin. Seeing my Dad's face light up when he realized the tracks were not very old and that we were not 'alone in the wilderness' was priceless. Because of that trip, I realized I wanted to spend as much time as possible with my Dad, enjoying moments like those while we still had the opportunity. Life is so short-make the most of it!!

Then in 2012, my entire family was able to join me in Yellowstone to celebrate my birthday. It was in that moment I decided this is where my heart is and in order to experience more lasting memories with my entire family I needed to have a place for them to call their 'home-away-from-home'.

Together, my Dad & I purchased this cabin as place to relax, watch the wildlife, fish the Yellowstone River and most importantly build more lasting memories. Being able to give my Dad the gift of owning a cabin means so much to me.

As a Vietnam Vet and someone who grew up without modern conveniences (ie: running water & indoor plumbing), owning a cabin was never on his radar. My Dad is the most kind-hearted, caring person I know and he would go the extra mile for those he cares about. Being able to give back to him was a dream come true and helping to make his dreams come true is what life is all about.

The Eagles Nest at Yellowstone purchased this cabin in 2013

Why The Eagles Nest at Yellowstone chose Yellowstone Country

We chose this cabin because of the proximity to Yellowstone National Park and the fact that it is located beneath Electric Peak with amazing views of the Yellowstone River. We can literally fish right from the banks of the river on the property and grill the fish minutes later while enjoying the evening from the patio...all without leaving the cabin.

We named the cabin, 'The Eagles Nest at Yellowstone' for several reasons: During our first trip to Yellowstone we saw two immature bald eagles and enjoyed watching them for quite some time. You will frequently see eagles soaring up/down the river throughout the year. Every time I see an eagle soaring I say out loud 'It' going to be a great day' and it is!! Most importantly, my Dad is a Vietnam Vet and every time I see an eagle I'm reminded of the sacrifices he and so many other military families make to protect and preserve our freedom. The eagle is the epitome and national symbol of that freedom. Watching an eagle soar on the wind of the Yellowstone ecosystem is a magical experience.

Also, the Park boundary is less than 1500 feet from the driveway and the North Entrance to Yellowstone is only 4-miles away. We wanted something close to the park but not overly commercialized or populated. This cabin was close, convenient and had the space we needed.

With 2 bedrooms (4 Double beds) and 2 full bathrooms, a full kitchen, dining area, living room and covered patio, we knew our needs were covered. Being able to share this property with others is exciting. Each trip to Yellowstone is different and offers a whole new experience. Whether you are coming for adventure, hiking, sight-seeing, fishing, wildlife viewing or photography this is the place to be!!

It was also important to me that we had a cabin where wildlife were welcome. Occasionally we will have bison, deer or elk in the yard and rarely a grizzly bear. Always be aware of your surroundings when in/near Yellowstone. This is their home too.

What makes this cabin unique

The unique benefits of The Eagles Nest at Yellowstone include the amazing views of Electric Peak, Seplucher Mountain and the Devils Slide. Located right just off the Yellowstone Riverfront our guests are able to fish directly from the banks of the river on the property.

For those that enjoy walking, the Park boundary is just 1500 from the driveway and only 4 miles from the North Entrance to YNP at Gardiner.

The Eagles Nest is open and available to reserve year-round and we encourage our guests to visit the Yellowstone National Park during different times of the year as each experience offers something new and different. Winter is especially wonderful and offers a whole new experience if you have never been.

You will love staying at this Yellowstone cabin known as The Eagles Nest at Yellowstone!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for letting us stay at your cabin. We had an incredible time and I immediately understood why the place is so special to you and your father.

Your home was so well outfitted, not just in terms of decor but also in terms of functionality. We had the best time ever and are so glad we chose your cabin for this trip.

Thank you also for the very prompt return of the security deposit. The accompanying handwritten card was a beautiful and unexpected touch!

The entire experience was worthy of a five star rating.

Beautiful cabin

  • 5 of 5

Plenty of room and very comfy beds. Great kitchen with everything you need. It was also very clean and has a beautiful view of Electric Peak. Gardiner is a wonderful little town- the people were so kind. The only other thing I would mention is the location is in a "neighborhood" of 14 other cabins and homes and is not as secluded as the pictures show. However, we would definitely love to stay there again!

Perfect In Every Way

  • 5 of 5

We visit Yellowstone Park at least twice each year, and have stayed at many rental properties in the Gardiner Montana area. Without question, this is the nicest property you will find in this price point. This very clean roomy cabin offers two large bedrooms each with 2 cute and comfortable queen log beds and a full bath. It also has a nicely appointed living area and full size kitchen and a huge plus, a washer/dryer. The cabin is extremely clean with plenty of towels and blankets. Dish satellite television , DVD player and optional wifi keep you connected. The cabin is part of string of like cabins just off of Cinnabar Basin Road, along the Yellowstone River. Step down to the river in the morning and look for bald eagles fishing and beavers splashing. A perfect spot for fishing or floating. My favorite part of this cabin is the location. Just two miles from the north entrance to Yellowstone ("The Arch") you will access the cabin by a well maintained dirt road which borders the park. Wild elk, deer, bison, antelope, are easily spotted from the road and often wander right into the cabin complex. Many times I have looked up to see a deer, bison or elk looking into our living room window. The views from the cabin are amazing in every direction. The cabins is situated on the lot to preserve privacy and the georgeous views. A private front porch with a gas grill welcome you home after a long day in the park. This was our first winter trip to YNP and our fourth visit to this lovely cabin. We cannot imagine staying anywhere else. First time visitors to Yellowstone beware. Many properties sound good and look good in pictures - but be sure to read the property reviews to get the real story. That's why I am so happy to leave this review for our favorite vacation property. The cabin owner ( who is not on site) is a pleasure to work with and works very hard to ensure that the cabin is well maintained and that all of your needs are met. If you choose this cabin, I hope that you enjoy your stay as much as we did. Al & sherri- Whitefish, MT.

Beautiful roomy cabin close to Yellowstone

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a week in July with our 3 young kids. The photos are exactly what the cabin looks like - two large bedrooms & baths, decent size kitchen, dining area and living room. There are two large windows in the living room that give a great view West/South towards Yellowstone. Plenty of room to stretch out and relax after a day at Yellowstone. The park is just a short drive down a gravel road. All contact with the owner was great - quick to respond, plenty of info on check-in/check-out - went smoother than most hotels. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again!

Beautiful setting, modern cabin. Great for 2 couples

  • 5 of 5

Cabin has a gorgeous view toward the park. The 4 beds are each pushed up against the wall making them not totally accessible. There was no shampoo or extra soap for the shower. The direction to trash and recycling stations in Gardiner were vague. Despite this, it's a great place to visit Yellowstone from and we'd use it again.

Our week near Gardiner spent with our dear friends in the Eagles Nest was simply superb! The cabin was perfect in every way...beautifully decorated, spacious, comfortably furnished and well equipped. The view from our LR window was spectacular! We couldn't have asked for more.
