This beautiful lake property features 2 cabins and 1 bunk house. The main Cozy Cabin has 2 bedroom and 1 bathroom, which sleeps 4. The guest Cozy Cabin has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, which sleeps 3. This property also includes a bunk house that can sleep 9. The bunk house is great for the kids to have their own get away and leaves the parents on their own get away. The main cabin has a 32in TV with DVD player. Bring along your favorite DVD's and enjoy popcorn and a movie while you sit by the beautiful stone fire place.
The sandy swimming will bring the kids hours of fun. There is a public landing, so bring the boat and jet skis for hours of fun on this 640 acre lake. There is a dock and boat lift provided at the property. The lake has some great summer and winter fishing with many different species of fish to catch!
Not a fisherman? The cabin is 1 mile away from the Paul Banyan trail which runs from Brainerd to Walker. You would have a great time biking, hiking, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling on this trail. Speaking of snowmobiling there is a snowmobile trail that is 1/2 mile from the cabin. This train will connect you to 100s of miles of groomed trails.
During the Spring, Fall and Summer you could also enjoy the many great golf course in the area, like the Whitefish Golf Course. There are many things to do in the beautiful town of Pequot Lakes like mini golfing, shopping or stop and enjoy a movie at the movie theater. You’re also not far from Nisswa, Crosslake, and Pine River were they have many place to eat and shop.
Other Amenities: Gas Grill, Tons of board games and lake side fire pit
Fish were biting like crazy. Had everything we needed to feel at home. Cabin was very clean. Neighbors were friendly. Town was close to hit the shops. And the lake scenery was wonderful !!!
We were surprised to find so many pans, dishes, utensils, etc. in the kitchen. We brought our own, but would hardly have needed them. Even towels and bedding supplied! The buildings are perfect for our large group, with all possible combinations of sleeping arrangements. We would have liked to stay longer, as there was plenty of space for so many activities, both indoor and outdoor. The fire pit and picnic table were an unexpected benefit, as was the gazebo.
We had a great time at this property. We were a smaller group so did not use the bunk space behind the garage but it looked like a great space if you have a large group of kids or maybe a group of fishermen. We used the main cabin and the guest house and the 2-car garage. The guest house was ideal for our oldest teenager so he could sleep in as long as he wanted and not be disturbed by the rest of us. That was all it was used for by our family but we have stayed at this property before and it makes a nice space for a small family as it does have it's own kitchen and bathroom. It also has a deck off the back. All 3 spaces ("bunkhouse", guest cabin and main cabin) now have satellite tv and the main cabin has a dvd player which is a nice touch. The main cabin has everything you would need from kitchen utensils to bath towels. There is plenty of seating in the 2 connected family rooms (could probably use a little more dining table space). If you are planning on more than 3 people sleeping in the main cabin (maybe 4 if two of them are small folk), you would probably want to consider bringing an air mattress which we have done in the past when we have had larger groups at this property. There is a queen bed in 1 bedroom and a full size (?) in the 2nd bedroom. There is plenty of dock space if you are bringing a large group of fishermen that have several boats. They have added a 2nd dock so a group could pretty easily have 6 boats docked at once. You may have to jockey boats around to get a boat out if you didn't think ahead to who would need out next but it's certainly nice to have that kind of dock space. As far as the lake - we absolutely love Upper Hay Lake (this is our 9th stay on Upper Hay). During the week we are about the only boat on the lake. The fishing was slow this year (in speaking with locals we have gotten to know it has been slow all year) and the water was up, but normally we hammer bass and northern any time of day - that's what we fish for so we love it! Lots of fun things to do in the area that we take advantage of every year from mini-golfing (1 mile) to par 3 golfing(1 mile) to movies(1 mile) to horseback riding(1 mile) to lots of good food options. Our favorite restaurants from over the years are the Old Milwaukee Club (Ideal Corners), Moonlite Bay (Crosslake), and Rafferty's Pizza (Nisswa). Also in Nisswa or Crosslake you have to stop at the Chocolate Ox for candy/ice cream. Our car usually finds it's way there every 3-4 days!
The location of cabin is great and good fishing lake. The cabins & property need repairs. There are electrical issues, non-functional smoke detectors, rotted wood on the deck, cabin and stairs leading down to the deck and the wood on the stairs is loose and not properly supported. There is a lack of proper ventilation in the bunk house on the back of the garage. The air conditioner in the only window was dirty and the members of our group that stayed in there woke up every morning with cold like symptoms. This can be a very nice place with rhe proper repairs and maintenance.
I absolutely love this place..Buildings were very clean, comfortable, plenty of room for a big crowd, little cabin was nice my father in law and sister in law stayed in there and our boys stayed in the bunk house they just loved it that they had their own space..The view is beautiful. The property owner is one of the best I've ever rented from very good communication, very helpful..we did have a small problem with the fridge leaking when we use the water dispenser but no problem he had somone right over to get it fixed for us..I would definately stay at Cozy Cabin again. It was fun, peaceful, and relaxing.
We really enjoyed our stay at The Cozy Cabin, was very clean and plenty of room for all 15 of us! Everything needed for a great time!! (Tips for large groups, you may want to bring more towels and steak knives. Also, we did stay a week and had 15 people so we could of used more garbage cans or a midweek garbage pick up.) Were very pleased with response time when we had a maintenance issue! We are absolutely thinking of booking again!! Great time had by all!!
