Perfect getaway!
My husband and I are recently retired, and for our first experience renting through VRBO, we couldn't have been more pleased with our choice. The home is exactly as it's represented, and the owners thought of every need we could possibly have. We had family and friends stay with us off and on during our stay, and they were all very impressed and pleased with the accommodations. The home's location is in a small, quiet, friendly neighborhood. We were able to conveniently walk or bike to several places. (We really enjoyed the Lazy Lobster under the tiki hut.) Any time that we were home we spent outside - on the screened back porch or in the private back yard. It certainly beats the Maine winter weather! Overall we were very happy with Beth and Ray's home. Our only disappointment is that their home is already rented for part of the time we'd like to be here next year. We really appreciate Beth, Ray and their family's generosity in sharing their home with us. Terry and Bill

Good location but some frustrations...
We rented this house for nearly a month and a half, the location was great for its proximity to John Pennekamp State Park and had a quiet neighborhood with boat access. Overall the neighborhood was quiet and was great for walking around and was nice and close to the paved trail along highway 1. There were definitely some things that could use some change in this house. The closets were jam packed with stuff, whenever we had guests visit they always mentioned this. There was only room to put anything in the master closet, the other two bedrooms had useless closets. The kitchen was so overloaded with stuff when we got there that there was nowhere to store food. Being there for an extended stay I had to clean out a cabinet in order to have room for food. This place also could use a new coffee maker, the one that was provided was terrible, grounds in the coffee all the time and it looked so dirty. The TV’s in this house are also terrible quality, normally on a vacation this wouldn’t be something I notice but staying for so long we definitely utilized the TV’s. Streaming service was not compatible with the TV in the living room and cut off part of the picture. The TV in the bedroom was terrible with playing DVD’s, the display was always off. The screen door on the front was missing the latch when we got there and was very loudly banging closed all night long. The washer proved to be a big problem, it ruined not one but two full loads of laundry with what I can only describe as grease stains. There were black/brown stains all over my clothes, after many attempts to get the stains out I had to throw away my clothes. There was absolutely nothing in the wash that could have caused this other than the washer, I triple checked everything to determine the cause. So frustrating! Also, BEWARE we were charged for ‘blood’ on the sheets on the twin beds. One of these beds was never slept in! I can only surmise that the cause of this was again the washer staining the sheets, thought I was being good renter by washing the sheets only to be smacked with a huge fee upon returning home!

Clean, neat, modern, good repair, well-supplied, homey, easy to get to
Nice quiet area, absolutely no issues. House is very well laid-out and convenient to everything you need. Excellent communication. Close to water (2-3 blocks) but water access is limited to a small boat basin. We found this to be a general issue in the Keys - if your VRBO is not ON the water, access TO the water (including sights and sounds) is quite limited. Either houses are built on the water or it is totally impassable mangroves - very few public access points. John Pennekamp park is just around the corner and has wonderful water access (including 3 nice beaches and fishing) for just a few dollars a day and offers boat, kayak, diving, snorkeling, etc. A real jewel!

Exactly what we hoped for.
This house was perfect! We had plenty of room for all 6 of us and enjoyed drinking coffee in the morning on the front porch. Beth was so awesome and quick to respond when I had questions. She recommended several great restaurants and we tried them all. The house had all you need and was truly a home away from home. Would definitely book again!

Location made accessing restaurants And highway easy. Needed re-freshening. Towels were worn with bleach stains. Closets so full you could not hang clothes Refrigerator full of other person's food. Tree had fallen in back yard. Deposit returned in great time and nice to have access to boat basin a block away. Would pay more next time and stay on the water

Great location
We enjoyed the house a lot. It was perfect for 2 teenagers and parents. It was located close to the activities. It was a beautiful drive to Key west for a day trip. Also a great location for the everglades, which we highly recommend. John Pennekamp state park is close enough to bike or walk to. We would stay here again. Beth was available and checked in to see if we needed anything

Great Place.
We came down with the family for some time in the Keys. this House was perfect for this. Good location, nice area, and just a good overall place to base our time out of. This house would be an excellent choice if you were looking for a boat friendly house, as the private boat launch is only a block away. House had all we could ask for, nice and clean with good kitchen and living rood. Nice bedrooms. Kids had fun chasing the little lizards around the outside areas.

We had a very nice stay. The property is well laid out and spacious. It was perfect for our group.
The only thing missing is a view of the water! Bit the screen porches are very nice to sit and enjoy the nice evening weather.

Wonderful place to stay
The house and location fit my needs perfectly and the owner (Beth) is extremely helpful and nice. I would stay again and would recommend this to my friends. The house is clean, comfortable, and roomy with nice natural daytime lighting (not dark and dingy like some places). It has everything you need so it feels like home and saves you running out to get something all the time. There is ample parking and is the easiest place ever to park a boat since it’s a corner lot you can drive thru so no need to back in. The neighborhood is quiet and about as nice as you find in the Key Largo for a reasonable price since houses are spaced out a bit (many places in Keys are jammed in in tight with neighbors close by but this one has more room). For me, the location was perfect since there is a community park on Largo Sound with a boat ramp which we used almost every day. Its great if you have a boat or kayak (which you can rent at Florida Bay Outfitters like we did and they deliver to the house). Largo Sound is great for kayaking…better than the bay really since its less choppy and you can paddle out the protected channels to Garden Cove or Pennekamp. Plus, you can easily paddle over to Pennekamp State Park and save on the entrance fee. The community park is great for boating but otherwise the scenery is limited since much of the view is blocked by a mangrove point. We just boated or kayaked out 100’ many evenings to watch the sunset from the water. We had our own bikes since the Keys are great for biking. The house comes with bikes if need be but they are not ideal for serious long distance bikers (like we are). Key largo has nice bike paths on both sides of the road but the middle Keys are way more scenic so I suggest biking there if possible. If you like to snorkel, bike, kayak, boat, watch sunsets over the water, visit the Everglades, and/or tour the keys then this house and Key Largo are for you. Its not for those wanting to sit around the beach or pool. Beware Keys traffic can be slow so allow extra time to visit Bahai Honda State Park and Key West which are must see spots. Also go to Everglades Natl park which is close to Key Largo, especially on windy days when the Keys snorkeling and water sports are not the best.

Warm and Sunny . . . Key Largo
What a wonderful home to spend a month in! This home is in a quiet neighborhood of Key Largo, it is tastefully decorated, very comfortable, and everything was in good working order. John Pennekamp State Park with its snorkeling, beaches, kayaking and glass boat tour is within easy walking distance and grocery stores were nearby. It was a good location for driving to the Everglades and Redland area (don't miss the milkshakes at Robert Is Here)and also for further exploration of the Keys. Highlights of our trip: absolutely perfect weather, kayaking at Robbie's (seeing a manatee and feeding the tarpon), kayaking at Curry Hammock, the Turtle Hospital, huge crabs while wading at Long Key, the Key Deer and No Name Pub,and much more. Conversations with the owners were very pleasant and helpful. We would love to return.

Great time in Key Largo
We had a great time here - went to Pennenkamp park, down to Key West, and definitely agree that Hobos is a good place for food. Thanks for all your help. Our only problem was that our rental car wasn't big enough to fit the bikes in! We've stayed in a lot rental properties over the years and it really makes a difference when the owners have thought of everything, like Beth and Ray did. Makes it feel like home. You wouldn't believe the number of times we end up buying things like boxes of Finish because someone didn't make simple stuff available like dishwasher tablets/foil/Ziploc bags/salt/olive oil/insert your own essential here. Always difficult when you don't know what's there and aren't coming in your own transport from your own place and can't pack stuff just in case. We are a long way from Key Largo where I live, but I would certainly recommend your place if I was asked.

Super schönes Ferienhaus
Das Haus ist sehr schön. Es ist toll eingerichtet, mit allem was man braucht, sehr ruhig aber trotzdem um die Keys zu erkunden oder den Süden von Florida gut gelegen. Also sehr zu empfehlen! Wenn wir die Keys noch mal besuchen, würde wir sehr gerne dieses Haus wieder buchen.
