About Adam Frick

While I don't travel as much as I used to, I have lived in about six countries and traveled to thirty-five. These days as a father of two (and husband of one), trips are more carefully planned and kid-friendly; that said, I try to get around New England wherever possible, and have trips to New Orleans, Las Vegas, Utah, Cape Cod, and Switzerland on the radar.

My favorite thing to do is read a dense, challenging book, and while I don't watch movies much anymore, that's because I've seen about all of them already. Music preferences range from hardcore punk to Wagnerian operas; food preferences vary just as much.

Adam Frick purchased this house in 2009

Why Adam Frick chose Garden District

My wife and I fell in love in this house. It's spacious, set in the friendliest and most beautiful neighborhood in town, and was a blank canvas when we moved in, so that we could add plenty of personal touches that reflect our various passions for everything New Orleans...now that we've moved to be closer to our parents, we hope you'll fall in love too...with the house, not with either of us (you know what I mean).

What makes this house unique

Did we mention location? Ok. Location. This is flat-out the nicest neighborhood with the most to do outside of the FQ (only a little bias): clean, quiet, safe, friendly, ornate, and surprisingly central in its access to nightlife and other urban amenities.

The streetcar for the French Quarter, Mid-City, and Uptown is a 5 minute walk, right by the (supposedly) world-famous Commander's Palace restaurant. Buses travel up and down Magazine regularly, and biking is getting increasingly easy in terms of renting and having space on all streets. Plenty of free streetside parking for those with cars. And we have a personal cab driver we trust who we'll connect you with as needed.

That said, the best bars and restaurants in the city are a few minutes' walk away, not to mention a grocery store, a CVS, and several locally-owned cafes. There's even an enclosed historic above-ground cemetery a few blocks away with guided tours. It's honestly hard to run out of activities; we've had friends stay at our place, thinking they'd travel around town, and wind up preferring to stay in our neighborhood, walking wide-eyed up and down Magazine. You won't be disappointed.

We absolutely loved the house and the location is perfect. Close enough to French quarters, and airport and Tulane, and also plenty to explore right in the neighborhood with magazine St and St Charles, we absolutely were 100% comfortable. We had 2 cars and had no trouble parking. House is clean and comfortable with all the amenities we needed!

Please be advised that my house is in a family neighborhood, and there is an outdoor noise curfew of 10 pm. This essentially just means that you need to stay off the backyard patio after 10 pm so as not to wake up the neighbors.

Check in is 3 pm, check-out is 11 am; guests are welcome to leave packed bags at the house prior to check-in/check-out provided they notify me first. Failure to check out on time can lead to incurring fines leveed by my cleaning service.
