Best view on the beach

  • 4 of 5

Great house, superb views, excellent beach access. We've stayed in the house for two years now, and the only problem is that the third floor AC unit is inadequate, with temps reaching in the upper 80's during the day. We actually bought blower fans to put up there, which helped some, but it's tough to cook in the kitchen and hang out in the tv area when it's in the upper 80's in there. We told them about it last year but nothing was done. Luckily we were prepared with the fans. Not sure why the owner won't upgrade the unit. We were told that the third floor just had a lot of windows, but so does the second floor and it was 70 degrees. But as you turned on the stairs to go to the third floor, the heat hit you like a brick. The units are old and can't keep up. I was sent an email from Vacation Rental Pros during our stay saying that if we went ahead and rented it again for next year we'd get the same rate, but when I called I was told that we couldn't do that, so we won't be back, which is sad. We loved the place.

The home is magnificent on a perfectly beautiful spot where ocean and inlet come together.

  • 3 of 5

This home could easily earn 5 stars except for one issue- the inability of the ac to handle the summer heat on the main living floor (3rd floor). There is a lock on the thermostat that keeps you from being able to change the temperature, but even though it was set at 74 degrees, it easily hit 80 plus degrees on days that were sunny ( that's what it showed on the thermostat but it felt warmer near the windows). There are no window coverings to help block the heat. Temps didn't hit 74 till late at night and even that felt too warm after so long in the heat. The lower levels were cooler but the most beautiful views and kitchen are on the third floor. We contacted the rental agency and they knew about the problem. No solution.

The house was overdue for a deep cleaning-baseboards, dusty corners on walls, dirt behind doors, dust under beds and tables (you notice these things when chasing after a toddler). Hopefully my complaint benefits future guests.

In case anyone else is confused about the layout of the bedrooms- the first floor has an adorable children's room with 4 beds and a kitchenette. The 2nd floor has 2 bedrooms with 1 queen bed each. One room has an en suite bathroom and the other has a hall bathroom. The game area is also on the 2nd floor. The bedroom with 2 queen beds (probably considered the master) is on the third floor. The room and bathroom are huge. It is the warmest room in the house because of the ac issue mentioned above. The kitchen and family room are on this floor.

We stayed in this home for a family reunion (grandparents, parents, and grandkids aged 1-14). It was a perfect fit and the game room was a huge hit!

The beach was beautiful! We loved all the slews, the sandbars where the birds roosted at low tide, and the beautiful sunsets in the inlet. We were lucky enough to witness shooting stars one clear night.

Relaxing and beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

This home made our trip and family vacation extra special. First of all, the elevator was a plus, as I have a son in a wheelchair. It was also very helpful with luggage, groceries, etc, as there are a lot of stairs, so if someone doesn't want to walk up from the first floor it is convenient. The beach/water view from all of the living areas was incredible. No beach views from the bedrooms-but that didn't matter. The bedrooms were all comfortable and nicely decorated, as was the entire home. The kitchen was full with any appliance we needed. The walks on the beach in the evenings during low tide were incredible! The home was very clean. Far enough but close enough to the downtown city of St. Augustine, about 20 minutes or so. The only negative thing was that there were lock boxes on the air/heat units. But we called the management company and they came out in an hour and we were able to set the air within the range we needed-and that was allowed. Sometimes the elevator would not open from the outside-so they need to fix that. I knew how to stick my finger at the top safety area to lift up the emergency unlock. The game room was a plus for us all to play and do some indoor activities, or just read a book and look at the beautiful view.

Beautiful view but not as advertised.

  • 1 of 5

This home is beautiful but that's about all. Many of the amenities did not work or were not accessible. For instance, the elevator would have been helpful with my 80+ year old parents, but it did not work. When addressed with manager,we were told there was nothing they could do. Wi-Fi was needed by my college student son that was missing class for this vacation. It didn't work. Manager said "call Comcast". Really? Isn't that your job?Repairman came but could not fix it right then due to inadequate wiring and corrosion. Air-conditioning on 3rd floor would have been nice in that hot, humid climate but it didn't work properly. Thermostat was locked and registered 78-79 degrees all the time even though it was set on 75 degrees. Manager said "nothing we can do about it". Living room, dining room, kitchen and a bedroom are all located on 3rd floor, very uncomfortable! Not to mention there were landscapers installing a sprinkler system, needing inside access and blocking driveway while we're just trying to have a relaxing vacation. Door bell didn't work which wouldn't have been a big deal if the living areas of this home were on the first floor, you could hear someone knocking. But can't hear knocking from the 3rd floor and even though we kept the door locked, these people sent over by Vacation Rental Pros had keys and just let themselves in. Very unprofessional and scary! Our experience with Vacation Rental Pros was very frustrating as they showed no concern for our disappointment and discomfort. The only action they took was to call Comcast to come over after we said that wasn't our responsibility. They hung up on our phone calls and didn't call back when they said they would. They were not apologetic at all and gave the impression that they didn't care. Very unprofessional! We chose this property because the amenities it offered were what we needed to be comfortable. Shame on you for advertising these amenities as operational when they are not and some haven't been for awhile. It is our opinion that Vacation Rental Pros is a very unprofessional management company. As a property owner, I would want to know if my management company was not maintaining my property in good working condition. I pay enough, what are they doing with my money? That is what I would be asking. Maybe the owner of this home will ask after they receive my letter? Maybe not, but either way, I would not recommend this home or Vacation Rental Pros!

Just as beautiful as advertised

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for my brother's bachelor party and it was a great decision. The property is just as pretty as it looks in the pictures, we were very happy with our stay. The game room was a very fun addition. The property was clean and well taken care of. The only negative would be that the bathrooms were not stocked with soap and shampoo, but other than that it was perfect. I would recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in the St. Augustine area.
