This 2-bedroom / 1-bathroom custom cabin sleeps up to 6 and features upscale amenities for a comfortable stay in your home away from home. We pride ourselves in providing super clean and comfortable cabins in an ideal location. The cabin is a hidden treasure for you to enjoy.
The cabin offers a full kitchen and full bathroom (tub/shower), WiFi, heat/AC, campfire pit, electric range, microwave, coffee makers, toaster, cookware, dishware, glassware, utensils, satellite TV/DVD, all linens for beds, bath, and kitchen, propane grill, covered porch, outdoor seating, picnic table, and more. For your safety there are no steps or bunk beds. Prior to your arrival, you will receive a personal key code for contactless check-in to your cabin. Enjoy watching deer and turkey from your covered patio. day.
Verizon and ATT towers in the area provide for excellent cell service.

Yak Ridge was everything we expected!! The pictures don't do the property justice!! We love the fact that we were able to cook our own meals and that all of the utensils were provided with the cabin. It was also pretty cool to look out our window and have deer within 20 yards of the cabin. The location was great, quiet and relaxing! It was also centrally located to alot of attractions. Todd and Cathy were great hosts. Definitely 5 stars and we are looking forward to going back!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!AAA

Great place to stay

We stayed for 4 nights. The cabin was clean as a whistle with everything needed for cooking. It's a quiet location in the woods, and a super-convenient location. The owners are really attentive. We would definitely stay there again

Anniversary trip

We loved our stay. Location was convenient to everything we wanted to do in SD. We were only about an hour from Sturgis as well and spent a day at the rally. Overall, awesome cabin, great hosts, and fantastic location. We Will be back.

Great getaway

Enjoyed this lovely cabin and our South Dakota vacation! Location was great, close to attractions but we really enjoyed the privacy and being off the main road. Our cabin was amazing; clean and homey. There was even a lovely basket of goodies for us to enjoy!

The whole experience was perfect. They made it as welcome for us as it could possibly be , even down to the deer coming to say good morning every morning. If you'd like some peace and quiet try Yak Ridge in the Black Hills.Todd and Cathy have definitely mastered the Hospitality business.

Pretty Little Cabin in the Woods

A great property for two. It was immaculate and had everything that we needed for our three day stay. Very close to Rushmore, Custer and Keystone. Owner was very responsive. Could not have been better for us.

I LOVED the location of the cabin. In the woods and quiet but close to town. Close to our main attractions. The cabin was just the right size for myself and my 2 teenagers. The owner greeted us and was helpful with suggestions of what to see in the area. They even have firewood available on site to purchase. Would definitely recommend!

Cute little cabin, clean, and easy. You can't hear road noise. Came with a little gift basket of snacks and fresh eggs, along with some travel size soap, shampoo, etc. I would definitely use one of those cabins again

We absolutely loved staying here! It was a nice, private, quiet cabin beautifully decorated. We enjoyed seeing deer on the property everyday The owner Todd was accessible and responded promptly to our questions. Check in was a breeze. They provided a container of snacks in the refrigerator along with a little gift package of shampoos, soaps, etc in the bathroom. The mattress on the bed was so comfortable that we plan on ordering the same one ourselves. Couldn't be happier with our choice. 5 stars without a doubt. I'd actually give it a 10 star rating if it was offered

Cabin in the Woods Near Rapid City

Yak Ridge Cabins are the perfect place to stay if you are looking to stay close to nature, but still have easy access to Rapid City, with all the amenities of home! The cabin is very well appointed with just about everything you might need. Hosts were amazing and it is evident how much they have invested in the property to ensure guests are comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor private fire pit and even cooked a little dinner out there one night. The location is so close to so many great attractions, making it the perfect home base for exploring western South Dakota. Thanks so much Todd & Cathy!

Peace and Quiet

We were lucky enough to share in the peace and quiet that this little cabin provides. Even though there are a couple other cabins nearby, we never had anything more than the whisper of the wind in the trees, and the occasional rooster call. We loved every moment here and will be back sooner than I’m sure we both would have thought. Thanks

Wonderful and beautiful place to stay

Arrived late so wasn’t able to set up fire and roast s’mores over the fire pit with my family. So arrive with daylight b/c the cabin sits nicely in the woods. The inside decor is top notch. New everything. Nice bathroom. Comfortable bed. All the pans, utensils and spices you need for a meal. The attention to detail, such as the outside hanging flower planters made the cabin warm and comfortable as a home.

Birthdays-Anniversary getaway

We spent a week at this cabin celebrating my wife’s and my birthdays and anniversary. It was perfect! The cabin amazing…very cosy. Great view and location. Welcomed with a gift basket of snacks and fresh eggs. There was also a gift bundle in the bathroom. Location was perfect. Got to visit all the major attractions in the area. Would definitely rent this cabin again. We would like to bring family members and rent a bigger cabin which they also have. We got to see wild deer and turkeys. There was also a resident squirrel that would visit on occasion. Would highly recommend renting these cabins.

Cabin was just how it looked online. It was charming and very cute. Location was perfect for a visit to Mt. Rushmore (10 minute drive.)

Jim and Julie are your hosts. We are blessed to have lived in the Black Hills for more than 25 years. We raised our two sons (now grown) in the the area and together have enjoyed hiking, biking, swimming, boating, camping, fishing, hunting, rock climbing, skiing, snowshoeing, exploring, and so much more of what the Black Hills have to offer.
Julie Smoragiewicz purchased the property in 2014 and the cabin was built in 2015.

Yak Ridge is a unique property in regard to its proximity to many major attractions:

- Crazy Horse Mountain (20 minutes),
- Custer and Custer State Park (30 minutes),
- Black Hills Playhouse (30 minutes)
- Sturgis (35 minutes)

Yak Ridge is located less than a mile off Highway 16, but provides a peaceful mountain setting. Our four cabins are nestled into their natural setting. Inside the rustic exterior, you will find all modern conveniences including: full bathrooms with tub/showers, fully equipped kitchens with new appliances; covered porches with gas grills; and campfire rings. Amenities include comfy quilts, soft blankets, plush towels, natural wood, vintage decor, Tiffany lighting, and quality construction.

The property is adjacent to thousands of acres of Forest Service land that provides hiking, biking, and climbing opportunities. Access to the Mickelson Trail is only a few miles away. Yak Ridge is the perfect location for a family vacation, reunion, or a romantic getaway.

We are grateful that we are healthy and can provide visitors to the Black Hills a location that allows for social distancing and space to enjoy the great outdoors. As efforts to move toward a new normal begin to take place, we wanted to let you know that we are deeply committed to the safety of all who spend time at Yak Ridge.

We have always prided ourselves in the cleanliness of our cabins as evident by our guest reviews and our commitment to meeting and exceeding South Dakota Department of Health requirements. To that end, and in light of the current global health crisis, we have further enhanced our cleaning and sanitizing protocols which also align with the CDC. We also continue to monitor CDC guidelines so that we can make adjustments to our protocols as needed. We have a proactive plan to manage and minimize the risks associated with COVID-19 which we carefully monitor and update as recommendations evolve.

Our guests are provided with a complimentary welcome kit which includes individually wrapped sets of slippers, as well as travel sized hand sanitizer, Kleenex, and sanitizing wipes. Also included are local travel information and maps. Even a few postcards to send to friends and family are provided.
