About jef Mansfield
I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and my wife, Patsy, is from Michigan. We have lived and worked as a general contractor in Scottsdale for 25 years.
jef Mansfield purchased this Guest House in 2000
Why jef Mansfield chose Scottsdale
We built this apartment to live in while we remodeled and rebuilt the main residence. It is a very nice space with a great location.
What makes this Guest House unique
Centrally located in Scottsdale, our place is on a quiet street with plenty of off street parking, behind a secure gate. The acre property has a pool, hot tub, and gas grill to enjoy. We also have a laundry that guests may use.

Very clean quiet place to stay.
The guest house is spacious and private. Jef was very responsive to any questions we had. We would definitely recommend this VROB!
Dog friendly, kid friendly home
We highly recommend Rooster’s Ranchette. It is in a great central location to access the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Walnut Canyon and other National Parks and Monuments. The home was nicely decorated, immaculate, well-stocked and situated in a quiet neighborhood. It is both dog and kid friendly. The owners are obviously very attentive to the property and were concerned that we had everything we needed for our vacation. Thank you Ruth and Dino for a lovely stay at your beautiful home.
Great location, private and secure
Has everything we need to enjoy several days in Scottsdale/Phoenix. We've stayed here before and will stay here again.
Can’t wait to come back!
We stayed here for a week and it was in a perfect location to everything. Great neighborhood and super hosts. We had a small problem with the gate remote and Jef made sure we were able to always get back in. Enjoyed the bunnies and quail we saw every morning. The bed was beyond comfortable and a/c was on point during the unusual hot weather for this time of year. We needed to check out a day early and Jef was very accommodating for that. We will definitely look to stay here again. I just hope it is available when we can come back.
Great host, great place! Very clean, spacious, private, safe well-equipped
Everything was perfect and we can‘t imagine having that much privacy and comfort at a hotel
Our only regret may be that it was too hot outside to try the hot tub!
Ten Star Property and Location
My wife and I and our Golden Retriever stayed at this property March 18-31, 2018. We had been to Phoenix many times during our airline careers, but never to Scottsdale. I searched VRBO and chose this property for many reasons, but the #1 reason was all the 5-star reviews. And I can tell you what gets those 5-star reviews. It is the owners/hosts who are Jef & Patsy. I received a reply from Jef within one hour of my initial inquiry into his Casita. Which, by the way, is described perfectly in the VRBO listing. Their property is in a quiet residential neighborhood which was a great place for dog walking. The king bed in the MBR was very comfortable, at least for us. And the shower has great water pressure. WiFi worked perfectly, as did everything else in the Casita. We did not avail ourselves of their pool (not heated) or hot tub. The property is centrally located so everything is very close by. Walmarts and Costcos are everywhere, as well as a multitude of great restaurants. We found the Scottsdale traffic to be very easy to deal with. Mostly all north/south and east/west roads that are all traffic light controlled. During the week, traffic does get heavier around 3 PM, but it is bearable. At present there is not a washer/dryer unit in the Casita, but Patsy is available to use theirs. That worked out just fine. And the nightly cost is VERY reasonable, when comparing to other properties in Scottsdale.
Thank you Jef & Patsy. Jim, Sam & Muggins
My wife and I live in the main residence. We can provide airport transportation and travel elsewhere.
