Favorite Place in the UP

This is our fifth year staying at this wonderful cabin. It is extremely well-appointed and is great for families. It's a beautiful setting on a cove in the Les Cheneaux Islands and is a short 10 minute drive to Hessel and a few minutes further to Cedarville. It is peaceful and feels remote, but it is conveniently located for exploring this beautiful area. The hosts are fantastic and respond quickly to questions or concerns.

Great family vacation spot

A very well appointed house for our family of 14 people ages 1-68. There are plenty of things to do at the house and easy to do day trips to places like Mackinac Island, Tahquamenon falls, and Sault St. Marie. The towns of Hessel and Cedarville are very cute. It was a week of fun and relaxation!

A beautiful setting on Lake Huron. We had 6 adults and 5 children and more than enough room in the home to enjoy all its amenities. It is so very kid friendly inside and out. Carol was very responsive to any questions we had. I would highly recommend this lovely home. Thank you for our wonderful family memories in the UP!! Everyone said we need to come back here!!

Very nice property and location! We enjoyed the large yard and the dock. The property was well-stocked (more than any other properties that we have visited) with oils, spices, games, books, puzzles, extra toilet paper, and any toiletries you may need. We enjoyed the use of the kayaks and paddle boards and the other amenities in the outdoor pavilion. We were very impressed with all the amenities! We greatly appreciated that we were able to bring along our 2 little fur babies. We enjoyed quiet mornings on the porch overlooking the water while having our coffee. There were a few things that did not meet our expectations. The bottom of the freezer was dirty. It looked as if something had been spilled and hadn’t been cleaned up. The stand-up shower in one of the bathrooms was way too small for an adult to use and the towels and washcloths in that bath could be updated. The other bathrooms were super nice and updated. An oversight on my part was that the home did not have AC. The numerous fans throughout afforded some relief, but the outdoor temps reached the mid to upper 80s the week we were there in early August. Unfortunately, even with the fans on and the windows open, the upstairs reached temps between 87-90 degrees. We actually left a day early because the temps inside were unbearable. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this property!

If you're looking for a relaxing place to go, this is it. It was everything that we were hoping for in our your getaway on Columbus Day weekend from Chicago. Highly recommend. The house had everything that we needed and then some. Everybody enjoyed their stay, including our Australian shepherd. Carol was great and responsive. We already want to go back.

Perfect home for a family vacation, beautiful home!

This home was beautiful! We went with extended family so there were 7 adults and 3 children and there was PLENTY of space for everyone to relax and have their own spot. The kids loved all of the game options and even though it was cooler when we went in August they still loved swimming and the outdoor activities. The house was stocked with all amenities you could think of! Was the perfect vacation home for our family and we hope to go back! You can't go wrong with this place.

Beautiful, extremely well-appointed, family friendly lakeside retreat

Wonderful house and property. The best VRBO experience I have ever had. Great communication from the host. Kitchen is more than fully equipped; the house seems new and up-to-date with comfortable bedrooms, open feel, lots of space, beautiful lakeside yard. Lots of kid-friendly spaces, toys, etc. Great loft for teens. Quiet gravel road but close to Hessel, Cedarville, and St. Ignace. The photo on the listing does not show the new beach added with a volleyball net. Look forward to staying there again!

A Slice of Heaven!

What an incredible house! The pancake/waffle mix and maple syrup was such a sweet surprise. 6 adults and 2 kids (ages 9 and 13) spent a wonderful week in beautiful home. Our family has rented through VRBO for the past 10 years, and this house by far exceeded the expectations of anything we’ve ever rented. The house has more than enough room for everyone to spend time together, or have their own space. The screened in porch was a favorite place to gather with a fire at night. The kitchen is outfitted with everything you could possibly need. The fridge is large and was able to easily accommodate all of the food we brought. The bedrooms have ample closet/dresser space so you can unpack and feel like you’re not living out of a suitcase. There were more than enough pillows and blankets for all of the beds. There were lots of towels too. The game room upstairs is wonderful for the kids to play in when they’re not outside. Our kids spent a majority of the time outside perfecting their kayaking skills (probably their favorite activity), there was a whole lot of playing whiffle ball/kick ball, badminton, bean bag toss, learning horseshoes, canoeing, and catching bullfrogs. The Payne’s have thought of everything to keep you occupied while you’re vacationing. There are toys and activities for all ages. There’s also a lot of personal items there in case you have forgotten something. Verizon cell phones worked just fine there. Carol is great and provides great communication to make sure you have everything you need and know everything you’ll need to know. The property manager Dennis was very nice too. The house is located in a great place, close to all the major places of interest. We were able to visit Mackinac Island, the bridge, Tahquamenon Falls, St. Ignace, do a Pictured Rock boat tour, hit up a few breweries, mini golf, Sault St. Marie locks tour, etc. We also did a pontoon rental one day from Hills Point Resort in Cedarville and cruised the bays checking out all the beautiful scenery. We’ll be recommending this house to everyone we know headed to the UP!

We had a great and relaxing stay, there was plenty of space for our large group. The property was beautiful with lots of room to spread out. The property offered lots of things to do for all ages and was close to lots of hiking and biking spots. We had a couple of unforeseen hiccups, but the owners and property manager were very helpful and kind and easy to communicate with and took care of the issues very quickly. We appreciate their hospitality and would recommend their lovely property to all families. They even have another property right next door for even larger groups, who may need two homes.

Family Vacation

This is a large house with 4 bedrooms on main floor and a pullout bed in the loft. The house is very nice and super clean. It also is very well supplied with everything you could need. Full kitchen, toys and games for kids, ping pong, lego, video games starlink and TV.table and bumper pool table. Outside it has volleyball net, outside lawn games, kayaks, canoe, life jackets and lake toys. The beach is large with a beach house, however it is rocky at shore and the rocks are slippery making it difficult to walk even with water shoes. We asked owners if the small children could swim next door at their other rental and that was a better shoreline for kids. My only complaint would be that the bed mattress are not as updated as the rest of the lodge. If they replaced the mattresses in the 3 back bedrooms this place would be absolutely perfect! The bunk room had great mattresses and was a huge room. This lodge has no air conditioning and the lodge got warm during the day but always cooled off at night. I would advise you bring fans. The owners have a couple fans to use and the rooms have fans on the walls but the main part of the lodge would benefit from more fans. The deck is great and the screened in porch was awesome. We spent much time on both. Has a dock and water is about 5 feet deep off end of dock. Overall this was a good rental which was large enough for our family of 12. We had a great timeThe owners are very good at communicating with you and willing to help.

Property was great. Carol was wonderful to work with. Kids and adults alike enjoyed all the extras provided in the “kids club house,” kayaks, canoe, lifejackets, paddleboard. Perfect Spot Up North

We had a week-long five family vacation here that was fabulous… Family members ranged in age from 18 months to 86 years. All had a lovely week. The house is absolutely beautiful, and very well appointed. You have everything you need! The view of the lake and access to kayaking, canoeing, swimming, or just sitting on the dock is perfect. We cooked all of our meals at the house (the grocery store in Cedarville has good selections), and went out to dinner once at Snow’s Bar & Grill for locally caught whitefish. Highly recommend! Our communications with the hosts was excellent - prompt responses to questions and helpful information. Great family location 😁

Perfect spot!

This house was the perfect spot to bring our family together and celebrate my mom's 60th birthday! Carol was very responsive, and Martin happened to be staying at their other property next door, so he was very accommodating and super helpful to answer any questions. They have lots of extras, especially for the kiddos in the upstairs playroom. We made good use of the paddleboards, kayaks, and canoe to go out exploring and fishing. The location was nice and secluded but close enough to the cute towns of Hessel and Cedarville if you need anything or want to visit the local spots (ice cream, coffee shop, distillery). Thanks again to Carol and Martin for sharing your special place with us!

Family Fun Headquarters

A quiet, clean, spacious, off the grid location with lots of fun family activities. We enjoyed kayaking, playing volleyball, ping pong and tons of board games. Smores using the fireplace in the screened in porch while playing board games was our favorite evening event! We took day trips to Mackinac Island and Sault St Marie. Cedarville has a great pickleball area and Distilllery to eat at. We also enjoyed the Island Bar in Hessel. Since we were there in May, there were quite a few businesses not open yet and the May flies were in full swing! We enjoyed the full kitchen to cook most of our meals. The house is very complete with all amenities. Thank you for providing a location for great memories to be made!

Wonderful house for a family getaway

We had a great time staying here. The house is clean, comfortable and well equipped with everything you need. We made good use of the indoor and outdoor games, kayaks, canoe and paddle boards. Beds are comfy and though the house isn't huge, it has a good layout to give privacy. The upstairs loft area offered a sleep sofa and had (glass) French doors and full bath so can be used as an additional sleeping area. We loved the screened in porch and large deck. Fishing wasn't as great as we'd hoped but we still enjoyed (due to receding lake waters I think). Hessel is a small, remote town so it's definitely on the quiet side, but we liked that. There is a grocery within 12 or so minutes away and a couple of restaurants. The Les Cheneaux Culinary school was a fun dinner out. We also enjoyed kayaking the Les Cheneaux Islands with Woods and Waters Ecotours and the guys did a fishing charter in De Tour and really liked it. The owner gives great info for things to see and do which was very helpful. If we can, I'd love to stay here again!

We were both born and raised in Michigan. Our best memories are our summers with our family and friends at our Brulee Point home in the beautiful Upper Peninsula.

Why they chose this property

We renovated a seasonal 1950's cottage into Brulee Point Lodge to accommodate our lifestyle "The more the merrier". We both have large families and wanted room for us all to gather, slow down, relax, appreciate nature, and build memories with family and friends - that's what it's all about.

We would love nothing more than for you to stay and enjoy yourself so much that you want to come back!

What makes this property unique

Location. Nestled among the cedar trees down by the lake, Brulee Point Lodge offers majestic sunrises overlooking Hessel Bay and the west entrance of the Les Cheneaux Island chain. Tranquil retreat with protected deep water frontage and permanent dock. Many sites to see in the area.
