Escape To The Beautiful Virginia Eastern Shore And The Chesapeake Bay View!

Our home is one of the three “grand old ladies” that were built across from the beach facing directly west into the sunset. Built in 1927 for a wealthy Cape Charles merchant, extensive renovations have been made to restore its grand character and create one of the most comfortable, as well as relaxing family rentals on the Virginia eastern shore. Enjoy a walk on the extensive sandy beach, lounge in the sun, kayak and paddle board, or build a sandcastle! Every evening you can view the fantastic sunset from the relaxing front porch! You may decide to "eat in" under the lights on the back patio or stroll to one of our fine restaurants. Fine shops, galleries, dining and entertainment are all within walking distance. The Town of Cape Charles Fishing Pier is an amenity for your family to enjoy a day of fishing or crabbing. The Town purchases an annual fishing license, so you do not need your own. You will need to register for the Virginia Fisherman Identification Program, which is a no-charge program. Registration is quick and easy.

Each bedroom on the second floor has an on suite full bathroom and ROKU live streaming television. The third floor features two bedrooms, one full bath and a media room. The sixth bedroom is located on the first floor off the kitchen and has a single daybed. A single portable bed is available as well located in the closet of the Sunrise bedroom.

The dining room seats 8 comfortably, but can seat 12 using the corners. The black buffet holds white china and gold ware that may be used. Please do not open or use the china cabinet china.

The butlers pantry seats a table of 4. The wine glasses, cocktail glasses and beer glasses are available for use. The bottom cabinets contains china that is perfect for afternoon tea!

The beautiful sun porch is equipped with a stately pool table for your enjoyment. Four kayaks are available for use during your stay, along with the required life vest and whistle. Sun bathe during the day and cool off under the breeze of the front porch in the evening, or sit fireside in front of the backyard fireplace!

If you feel adventurous you can rent jet skis from Poseidon Watersports, take a kayak expedition with Southeast Expeditions or go horseback riding on the beach with Esperanza Riding Company! The Northampton YMCA offers vacation passes!

Note: Park on gravel lot off private drive behind the house and do not park in yard driveway. Golf cart parking and charging station available there as well.

Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Please enter through the mud room on the side of the house after a day at the beach. There is an outdoor shower to rinse next to the kayaks.
Please rinse beach chairs and kayaks and put away after use with hose. Please use only the shower knobs and not faucet knobs to turn in shower.

Perfect for our family

I'm sorry it has taken so long to review our stay. It was truly perfect for our family. We range in age from 3 to 70somethng, and we all enjoyed being so close to the beach. It made ferrying beach gear, kids, and food back and forth a cinch. The home is stunning, and the owners have filled it with interesting, tasteful decor and personal items. I have already recommended it to friends and coworkers who are looking for a beach vacation that's actually relaxing! We had a wonderful time. House is great for everyone except me. I am 73 and am currently having a hard time with my legs. lots of steps and the lack of bars in the shower made things difficult. Otherwise, we love the house and the location.

A great family get-a-way

This property was very comfortable, with many conveniences. Being across from the beach was a bonus. We were able to take the little ones to the beach for just a couple of hours, with little effort to get there. We appreciated all of the things in the house, that we did not have to drag from home. We had 4 adults and 6 kids on our trip and this house easily accommodated all of us! Easy access to the bay and beautiful sunset views from the top deck. We all had a great time!

Mark and I fell in love with Cape Charles and decided to make it our "forever home"! Mark is a retired Naval Officer of 30 years and I have been in the banking industry for over 30 years. Together we have 4 wonderful children and we love the slower pace of life on the Eastern Shore. Soon to be "empty nesters" we look forward to enjoying Cape Charles full time.

Why they chose this property

After we purchased our first home in Cape Charles and did a complete renovation we knew this is where we wanted to retire! We loved the elegance, beauty and location of Chesapeake Bay View and knew we wanted this to be our forever home. We wanted to bring the "grand ole' lady" back to her true form! We completed the third floor to include 2 bedrooms, a full bath and a media room. The second floor front and side balcony's have been restored with the original chip and dale railings, as well as the needed addition of doors to access each balcony.

What makes this property unique

Our home is perfect as it sits directly on Bay Ave with the most awesome views of the Bay. You can enjoy the shade as your watch passerby's from the front porch, enjoy a quiet dinner under the lights on the back patio or take in the views from the second floor balcony.
