This is one of ten units in Shadow Cliff - the back entrance of which opens directly onto El Paseo. The units were built in 1960 and have a typical mid-century flavor. The interior has been gutted and renovated to include all modern amenities, while preserving the charm of the period. The unit is an end-unit and the largest one in the complex - approx. 1600 sq.ft.. It is simply a short walk to the finest shopping and dining that our desert has to offer.
This gorgeous home has a very serene and relaxing atmosphere. You enter the huge living/dining room and look out to the private backyard patio and mountains beyond. The pebble tec/glass tile pool and spa were added in 2012 to make things even better for our tenants. All windows and doors in the condo have been treated with special 3-M film to cut down on UV light and heat and add privacy, while not impeding the view.
The condo's floors have just been redone in a contemporary porcelain tile. However, all rooms have beautiful handmade rugs which add warmth and charm. The bathrooms are big, modern and gorgeous. The master bath is huge and has a jetted tub and a large, separate shower and newly upgraded glass accent walls.
The kitchen has steel and glass cabinetry, all stainless steel appliances, contemporary glass tile backsplash and modern silestone counter tops. There is a laundry/utility room with a separate entrance that has lots of storage space and a washer/dryer.
The back yard is newly landscaped with Bourgainvillea and palm trees and what is not landscaped is tiled with black slate. We have just put in a brand new private pool and spa in 2012 with glass tile and pebble-tec finish. Our heat pump heats the water in the winter and COOLS it in the summer months. There is a serene fountain in one corner. Under the protective overhang is a very comfortable lounging area, with a modern teakwood sofa, 2 arm chairs, 2 ottomans and 2 tables. There is also a large dining table with 8 chairs adjacent to the spectacular new Jenn-Air BBQ. An outdoor shower is convenient for washing down after your swim or just cooling off while sunning on the patio in the comfortable lounge chairs provided. In other words, it is the perfect spot for entertaining or just relaxing and reading a book.
All furniture is new and much of it is custom made to favor the period, while giving the condo a sleek, modern look. It is not the typical 'hotel' or 'model home' stuff. Our idea was to make our unit your 'home away from home', rather than a mere vacation rental.
The condo is equipped with 4 new flat screen T.V.s for your enjoyment, as well as DVD players. There is wi-fi and free local and long-distance calling within U.S. and Canada.

Beyond the gated and walled private yard, is a park-like common area with a heated community pool (for those who want to do laps). Since many of the units (including this one) have their own pools, the community pool gets little use and is for all intents and purposes private. So, if you don't want to pay the extra cost to heat the pool or want to invite 12 of your best friends to join you in the pool, you can simply use the heated community pool.
Shopping and restaurants are just a block away on El Paseo, which has a courtesy bus to drive you up and down the street at no cost. We also have 2 bicycles available for your enjoyment.
We love dogs and if yours is well-behaved, housebroken and stays off the sofa and chairs, we welcome them. because of tenants' allergies and the smells inherent with litter boxes we no longer will rent to anyone with a cat. Due to the hazards inherent in having a pool, the home is not considered to be child friendly.
I have been vacationing in Palm Desert for many years and have often rented homes in the area. I approach semi-retirement, I wanted to spend more time there so this year I decided to purchase a property there. As soon as I viewed this condo, I knew it was the one! I'm glad to be able to share it when I'm not there!

This area is the very best in the desert because of its proximity to El Paseo, neighboring townships, the mountains, the theater and anything a visitor might want to do or see in the Coachella valley.

Stays of less than 27 days are subject to a 9% city tax.
Damage/utility deposit is for each month or less. Utilities are for actual amounts used during stay; remainder is refundable within 30 days of departure. Thus we can keep our rates lower and you get to decide if you want to use the jacuzzi every nite for hours or set the A/C at 50 degrees, etc. We feel this is the fairest pricing method.
