My friends and I loved staying here for our Stowe vacation! The house looks even better than in the pictures. Very comfortable and spacious. Excellent location. The description says 5 bedrooms, one of which is a loft. We wouldn't call that a bedroom in itself, but it was very comfortable. Three of the bedrooms are connected so noise can travel between them, but we did not have any trouble with it. We loved staying here and would certainly stay again on our next visit to Stowe.
House was well stocked & great for a biggroup. Abundance of towels & sheets. There’s an additional loft room with beds. Location is great - walkable and close to shuttle. Plan ahead for parking; driveway and garage are small. Only complaint is that there were a lot of personal items out in the open that belonged to the owners. To avoid risk I would recommend some of these items to be put away in the future. Overall, great stay!
We had an amazing stay
House was 10 mins from the mountain
Lovely cozy home for 2 Families to stay
House was very clean and spacious a two family rooms and large dining room table
We had a wonderful week in Stowe
A great rustic gathering place. Big dining room table for a bunch of people where we ate and played games. Big upstairs fireplace room where we had evenings in front of the fire after skiing all day. Pretty nice place to make memories.
The house was a good size for our family Christmas. The two living areas (large one upstairs with fireplace and cozier one downstairs) meant everyone could spread out and relax. The bedrooms were comfy, dining room had seating for everyone, kitchen was spacious and having a boots on/off area was really helpful.
We enjoyed our stay at the riverside house, it is true to its listing. The bedrooms being open to each other was fine with us, but definitely better for kids! When we arrived the house was a little dusty, like people hadn’t been there in awhile & needed a little maintenance, as closet doors were broken and balcony door in the master does not lock easily. Overall, we had an excellent stay and loved Stowe!
The house is at a great location. Close to the mountain and Stowe Village. However, the bedroom set up is not ideal. Three of the bedrooms are connected with no wall for separation. The loft is connected to 2 other bedrooms. So for us, we were multiple couples/family with young children, it was very hard to figure out sleeping arrangements. Otherwise it is close to everything and fine stay.

Nathalia,
so sorry the sleeping arrangements did not work out for your stay, it clearly states that the loft is over two of the other bedrooms

Great Location, but needs simple maintenance
We had a family ski trip at The River House . The house is perfectly located by a river with easy access to Stowe Village and close the ski resort . There is plenty of space and 2 living room areas. The kitchen is well equipped. The how lacks basic maintenance however. There was a large pantry door in kitchen fall off , which we ended up taping shut . The access to upper deck has no door handle and hand held shower in master bathroom tub does not work so you must shower elsewhere. There is no door to master bathroom, , just a makeshift curtain. Very uncomfortable and weird. . They did not remove trash from previous rentals and was overflowing in garage, so there was no.place to put our trash. They outside deck area was decorated with lots of dog poop from a rather large dog .we ended up leaving a night early because the dirt road became a quagmire of mud from warm thaw and we afraid we might not be able to get out the next morning.

I am sorry you left a day early due to mud season. The pictures in the listing clearly show that the Primary bathroom has curtains that close to the bathroom. The listing also clearly states that there is no shower in the Primary bathroom and that there is only a soaker tub. I apologize for the garbage and have spoken to the person who picks it up. The kitchen cabinet doors were not broken upon your arrival, the housekeeper also did not see that clear tape was applied. what I am not understanding is that you had the phone number to call to have any items like this taken care of and not once during your stay did you call or message/email me . These items were all taken care of once we were made aware and saw them. It is unfortunate that previous renters did not clean up after their dog, it is also unfortunate that the snow melted the week of your stay and revealed all of this. It will be taken care of. Please the next time you stay at a property and their are issues let the property manager know so that they have the opportunity to take care of items so you can better enjoy your vacation

Family and Friend Trip
This property was a great location for Stowe, has a great open concept living area, and a great upstairs living area with toys and games for the kids.
However, there are a couple things to be aware of that could be improved upon, and would prevent us from booking here again.
1. The queen bed in the loft overlooks TWO bedrooms. This is misleading in the property description. Coming here with kids and friends, we needed to make a sleeping arrangement plan ahead of time, and this realization did ruin our plan. The open loft, and therefore, essentially 3 connected bedrooms should be pictured and transparent in the property description.
2. The water smelled like sulfur, and consequently had a bad taste. It was actually really bad. The property manager should be running the water periodically if there are no tenants staying for long periods of time. Hopefully the property manager does read this and takes a look at this problem.
3. No bathroom door for upstairs shared bathroom. If you come out of the shower to brush your teeth in your towel, you're exposed to your other housemates with no door.
4. No shower in master bathroom
5. Stairs and railings on upstairs living room stair area have large gaps (only concerning for young children)
6. Limited Internet connection

Hi Danielle,
I am sorry the house did not quite meet your expectations. I really do not think that you read the listing correctly.
1. Below is what is written about the loft (There are two bedroom (1 with 2 twin beds and the other with a bunk bed). There is a loft separating the bedrooms that has a queen bed.
2. We appreciate you letting us know about the water. This has been resolved and it had nothing to do with the cold drinking water, the smell was coming from the hot water and is now resolved.
3. The upstairs shared guest bathroom has two doors which both close giving privacy to guests
4. The listing clearly states that there is no shower in the Primary bathroom. Please see below from listing
Primary Bathroom
Soap · Towels provided · Bathtub · Bidet · Toilet
We have multiple 10 star reviews from previous guests and we are sorry you did not read the listing correctly

Will return to Stowe, but will not stay at this home again.
Visited Stowe with 5 other women for a birthday trip. The location/size of this home was perfect, accessible to everything, big enough spaces for us to relax or eat together. The beds were also very comfortable!Other than that, we didn’t have a great stay. The stove wasn’t fully functional, kitchen essentials weren’t well stocked, we had to purchase hand soap for the bathrooms, etc. In advance of our stay, we asked about firewood and was told by the property manager she wasn’t sure if the home would have wood. Upon arrival, the house manual said there would be wood in the garage, but there wasn’t. We spent approx. 100 on firewood only to find wood behind the house on our last day. We did share the above with the property manager after our stay and she said these issues would be addressed. The house also ran out of propane due to an error made by the propane company, so no heat or hot water for one evening in sub-freezing temps. We understand accidents happen but were surprised the property manager’s customer service wasn’t better. She responded quickly but did not offer solutions if the propane company couldn’t refill the tank that evening – space heaters, another rental, etc. and she wasn’t able to tell us if the company had come after we left the house to go somewhere else to warm up. Luckily, when we returned to the property the propane company had come and our heat/hot water had been restored. After inquiring about compensation, the property manager refunded us 140.

Sarah,
sorry you did not totally enjoy your stay. The stove was functioning upon arrival, it was not mentioned that it was not working correctly. The propane was an unfortunate item. The owner and myself worked very hard that night to make sure that propane was delivered. You all went out for the birthday celebration dinner which was previously scheduled and you did not return until midnight at which point the heating had been working again for several hours and you came back to a warm comfortable house. The owner and i had discussed what options were available that evening if we had to re house you. You were out celebrating so we did not want to intrude on your evening any further . We compensated the guests for the number of hours that the house was with out propane which was 3hrs. The house is supplied with amenities and bar soap is supplied in each of the bathrooms for guest use, this had not been an issue for previous guests that hand soap pump bottles were not made available. Guests have now used all of the firewood so we will be providing a couple of starter logs for each stay.
We loved our stay in Stowe! Elaine was great — answered any questions we had. The house is absolutely adorable. Cozy cabin vibes. Location was perfect — just a short drive to the mountain and plenty of restaurants/bars nearby. Kitchen is well stocked with utensils, pots, pans, etc. We would definitely stay here again and we actually may next year!

Great House / Great Location
We had a great time. The house is very well located halfway between town and Mt. Mansfield. It is near a whole bunch of restaurants, shops, markets, services, etc. making it very convenient for a Stowe vacation. There were 4+ bedrooms, making it easy for people to find places to sleep. The children loved the bunk beds and the loft while the adults enjoyed the two private bedrooms suites (one is a real suite and the other is a very private first floor bedroom next door to the first floor bathroom making it close to a suite). There were two very very comfortable living rooms, one a true mountain great room and the other a more cozy room in which to relax. The kitchen was well stocked and nicely set up for real use. There was easy access to the parks and trails of Stowe and I imagine in the summer months, the lawn down to the river is beautiful. Thank you for a great stay.
