We visited Captiva Star for my son's senior high school spring break. We had three families with us, and there was plenty of room for all!! The property is extremely spacious and perfectly clean. The absolute best part, however, is the location. It is just a short, few minute, walk down a sandy road to the beach. In the other direction, there are all the quaint restaurants and shops of Captiva. You don't even need a car if staying here! You can literally rent bikes around the block, and there is a small grocery store right behind the house.
For the house itself, we absolutely loved the pool and hot tub! Make sure you read the directions on the controls, because it took us a couple days to figure out how to keep the temperature where we wanted it. The kitchen was completely open and well stocked for a large group. The bedrooms were also very spacious, and the best part is there are several day beds with trundles, so you have a lot of flexibility in your sleeping configuration. We played games on the spacious screen porch every night. We also enjoyed the second refrigerator, which we stocked with beverages for use by the pool and pool bar. We even used the Weber grill, which was ready with gas!
The house is well stocked with beach towels and chairs, so you don't really need to bring anything with you. Another review mentioned bikes; our house didn't come with them. But you can rent them around the corner very inexpensively - I think $7/day.
My feedback for the owner would be to add trash cans in every bedroom and put more solid curtains on the queen bedroom on the main floor. I did feel a tiny bit exposed when dressing in that room, since there are sheers on the doors to the porch and the hallway. These are minor complaints, obviously. Overall we had a fantastic time and hope to visit again!!! Five stars!!!!!
