New in 2014, log home RIGHT ON the Madison River. 25 min. to West Yellowstone

Our beautiful, custom log home, which we call The Caddis Shack, was completed in 2014. By no means a “shack” with 4000 sq. ft., with 4 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms, on 3 levels. We are located DIRECTLY on the Madison River on the best fly fishing section of the river! The home sits on a 1 acre parcel and is a short, scenic 25 minute drive to the West entrance to Yellowstone National Park. This is the perfect location for enjoying all the area has to offer.

We have furnished the home entirely with locally made custom log and barn wood furniture, and great quality mattresses, soft linens and premium cookware. The interior walls are well insulated for sound and keeps the home quiet and private from room to room.

Fish the legendary rivers of the Madison, the Gallatin, the Yellowstone, the Firehole the Gibbon and the Henry's Fork all from one destination. If you prefer lakes, Hebgen lake, Quake lake, Henry's lake, Cliff and Wade lakes are minutes away.

HOME DESCRIPTION:

The main level of the home sleeps 6 people PLUS additional queen bed in loft provides sleeping for 2.

Very comfortable and thoughtful accommodations to make sure your trip is as enjoyable as possible, including comfortable mattresses, quality pillows and linens. We know a good nights sleep is paramount to enjoying your vacation! Open the windows at night and listen to the soothing sounds of the river!

ENTRY: Slate entry with barn wood bench with large overhead coat rack. Plenty of space for your daypacks, hats and small cooler in preparation for a day of exploration or fishing.

KITCHEN:

Spacious, fully equipped modern kitchen with quartz counter tops, knotty alder cabinets, under cabinet lighting and stainless steel appliances including trash compactor. Center island allows for comfortable kitchen gatherings. There is a nice propane Weber Genesis grill on the deck for your use including all the grilling utensils needed. There are plenty of small appliances such as crock pot, blender, Cuisinart food processor, rice cooker and coffee grinder. We have provided two small 28 qt. coolers and blue ice packs to use during your stay for picnics and trips to the market.

DINING ROOM:

Adjoins kitchen and will seat 8 people at a 7ft barn wood table with side bench seating and end chairs.

GREAT ROOM:

Beautiful great room has 21ft tall ceilings, large elk antler chandelier and free-standing gas stove fireplace with river rock surround and hearth. There is plenty of comfortable seating offering space for everyone to stretch out and relax. There is a large 65' LCD flat screen TV with satellite cable and surround sound.

Open the dual 6ft sliding glass doors and hear the sounds of the river. Step out on to the large cedar deck with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and river. Watch your family and/or friends fishing just below while enjoying your coffee in the morning or glass of wine in the evening!

LOFT BEDROOM:

The spacious 20' x 16' loft has a queen bed, nightstands, dresser and cozy seating area perfect for reading or playing games. A ceiling fan and 2 large windows open for ventilation. Enjoy a view of the continental divide range and the river.

MASTER BEDROOM:

On one side of the main floor is a huge master bedroom suite with a barn wood furniture theme with a Cal-King bed. A 6ft sliding glass door opens to a private deck over-looking the river. It also has a private bath (soaker tub, large tiled shower and double sinks). 58' LCD flat screen television in room. There is an electric fireplace to provide a little extra warmth and ambiance as well.

GUEST BEDROOMS AND BATH:

The other side of the main floor has a full bathroom with tiled shower/tub, two more bedrooms and laundry area.

Guest bedroom #2, faces the river and has it's own sliding glass door to the deck over-looking the river. It has a Cal-King size log bed and rustic log furniture theme. 50' flat LCD television in room.

Guest bedroom #3, has a view of the continental divide range and river. It has two twin rustic log beds, log furniture and 37' LCD flat screen television.

Guest bedroom #4 is the loft with queen bed, Rustic barn wood with tin themed furniture.

3rd full bathroom is in the lower level which walks out to the river. Here in the lower level you will find an area to stage all your fishing gear, rods and waders. This is an unfinished space with a concrete floor and outdoor carpet remnants. Our guests love the indoor area for changing at night or rainy weather, no need to worry about bringing water and dirt inside. We have provided wader hooks, rod holders, big tables for packs/clothing/rod set up, and chairs to sit in while getting in/out of waders and boots. Just outside is bench for changing, hooks for waders and a hose to wash off.

DECK:

A large rear deck overlooks the river and runs the full length of the house. There is a table and chairs with a propane Weber Genesis gas grill (extra propane provided, you will not run out). Perfect for enjoying a meal together with a spectacular view of the river and sunsets. Observe the evening hatch and the Montana moon and stars like you've never seen!

Bald Eagles, Osprey, Red Tail Hawks and sometimes Golden Eagles, fly overhead as they glide up and down the river. You will also see Pronghorn, deer, moose, river otters, beaver, and red fox near the house. Big Horn Sheep, Mountain Goats and Elk roam on the mountains above and can sometimes be seen coming down across the river.

FIT PIT:

There is a rock fire pit down by the river with 8 adirondack chairs to enjoy the stars and s'mores together. Firewood provided.

EXTRAS:

*Wireless Internet service is provided, just bring your laptop or tablet.

*Charging station area in living room with multiple outlets for everyone's must-have electronic devices.

*House has forced-air heat system and additional electric foot heaters under cabinets in the bathrooms and at the kitchen island.

*NO air conditioning and you won't need it. There are ceiling fans in all rooms. Open some windows for great cross flow of air.

*Local phone calls only.

*TWO SETS of high efficiency washer/dryers for convenience.

This fishing lodge is a long time dream come true for our family. The Madison River and surrounding area has very special meaning to us. Randy's parents, Bill and Betty, came here in the 1970's and 1980's on fishing trips. Bill and Betty have since passed away. Betty helped build this house with her son Randy, and his wife Samantha, for future generations of fishermen to enjoy. This house was built in memory of Bill Arbogast.

Over the past 16 years, Randy and Samantha, have been coming to West Yellowstone every summer to fish and enjoy all the area has to offer.

It is our family's wish to share this beautiful and very special place with you, your family and friends. You are sure to leave with wonderful, lasting memories and great fishing stories!

Amazing home on the Madison River

We stayed at the Caddis Shack the week of July 23rd to the 30th. The Caddis Shack was perfect for our group of flyfishers, the downstairs room is great for storing your rods and waders and other gear between trips to the river. The house is in an amazing location, its right on the upper Madison river and just a short walk to some of the best fishing on the river and its also just a short drive to the world famous Henrys Fork of the snake River and Yellowstone Park and all its fishing opportunities. the inside of the house is beautiful, all the furniture and beds are very comfortable and the house is well stocked. It would also be a great place for families to stay at while exploring southwest Montana and Yellowstone. We couldn't have asked for a better place to spend our week fishing in Southwest Montana.

Fantastic!!!

The Caddis Shack is THE best place I have stayed in the area. I have been fishing the Madison for decades, and have stayed at a number of places. The Caddis Shack tops them all. Excellent creature comforts as well as excellent river access. In addition to the important details such as fabulous porch and bbq to cook and enjoy dinners; comfortable beds, couches and chairs; an extremely well stocked kitchen; a great entertainment system when you want to chill and watch a baseball game instead of fish; and a great lay out to relax and enjoy, some of the other little details really make a difference. Thank you for the ice packs in the freezer - a wonderful touch to soothe my aching knees after stumbling around on the Madison all day. And the rod rack, and the hooks for vests and waders, and the extra hemos, and the binoculars so I could watch the osprey, and the extra coffee, and on and on. Great place to stay, particularly if you like to fish the best trout river in the world. Thanks Kathy, Randy and Samantha. Look forward to coming back soon.

Very nice home in a beautiful place.

We stayed for a week and enjoyed our stay. The house was updated, comfortable and clean. It was well furnished and the beds were very comfortable. Blue ribbon fly fishing is a short walk from the back door. A river really does run through it. We came for the quiet and the proximity to Yellowstone. The VRBO representative meet us when we arrived, which is not expected but we did appreciate it. She was very nice and helpful and it was good to know that there was someone nearby for questions. We had a great time and I would like to go back next year.

Nice property. Expensive if you do not fly-fish.

The house and its setting were beautiful. The house is very well appointed, but there were some issues that needed to be addressed and hopefully will be before future guests book. If you love to fly-fish, this is the place for you. If you are touring Yellowstone, the distances are a little daunting for young children.

What a place!

My husband and I stayed at the Caddis Shack for a week. Our primary focus was on flyfishing and the location couldn't have been better. We had easy access to Yellowstone, the Madison and Ennis, not to mention the great fishing in front of the cabin. We even made an easy day trip to Jackson Hole. The Grizzly Bar was great for dinner and only 5 miles from cabin. We would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Great place to stay!

Stayed at the Caddis Shack for 7 nights. Place was beautiful, awesome and well equipped. In our group there were 8 adults and there was ample room for everyone. Close to West Yellowstone and the Park yet far enough away to enjoy the spectacular scenery and feel that you are away from the frenetic pace of modern life. Located right on the Madison River for great fishing opportunities.

Our Madison River front home is centrally located to many activities. 30 Miles to Yellowstone Park and the town of West Yellowstone. The town of Ennis is 40 miles to the North. Both towns offer grocery stores, restaurants, shopping, fly shops and guide service, tourist information, medical care and pharmacy. Henry's Lake is 13 miles away.

CANCELATION POLICY:

A 50% deposit is required to secure a reservation within 7 days of booking. In case of a cancellation, the deposit is fully refundable less a $100.00 processing fee, if the written cancellation is received prior to 90 days of arrival. For cancellations within 90 – 60 days of arrival, 50% of the deposit will be retained unless we are able to rebook the rental. If a cancellation is made within 60 days of arrival, no refund will be made unless we are able to rebook the rental.
