Welcome to our lovingly renovated 1900 Cape Cod home—where historic charm meets the simple joys of hobby farm life. Owned by a local school teacher who truly enjoys hosting, this warm and inviting space is designed for guests who want to slow down, reconnect, and experience the Catskills in an authentic way.

Sip your morning coffee while watching hens wander the yard, listen to goats in the distance, and embrace the peaceful rhythm of the countryside. Just keep in mind—our roosters haven’t discovered an off switch yet, so early risers will feel right at home here.

The house features a bright, open floor plan and is fully furnished with everything you need for a comfortable stay. With four bedrooms, it’s perfect for families or small groups:

Step outside to enjoy the large, fully fenced backyard—ideal for relaxing, playing, or bringing along a well-behaved furry companion. We are dog-friendly; however, to keep our goats, mini goats, and donkey safe and stress-free, we are unable to accommodate large dogs.

As a working hobby farm, you’ll see and hear animals throughout your stay. If you have allergies to animals or prefer a completely quiet, pet-free environment, this may not be the best fit—but if you love nature, animals, and a bit of rustic charm, you’ll feel right at home.

Our location makes it easy to explore everything the northern Catskills have to offer. We’re just 15 minutes from Belleayre Ski Resort, 7 minutes from Plattekill Mountain, and the villages of Roxbury and Margaretville, and only minutes from Hanah Mountain Resort & Country Club. Whether you're here for hiking, skiing, golf, local dining, breweries, or simply taking in the stunning scenery, you’ll find plenty to enjoy.

Dove was the most hospitable host! Her home was so lovely and cozy. She went above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable. The farm animals were all so sweet and gentle. We were not expecting this level of joy while staying at someone's home. It really felt like a home away from home. Dove was very responsive and accommodating. Highly recommend and would love to stay here again!

Perfect house for what we needed close to Belleayre - easy parking and fully stocked kitchen - they even had coffee! Chickens added so much fun to the stay. Loved our stay and will be back hopefully a little longer next time.

Our family absolutely enjoyed our stay in this lovely, comfy home. It was super clean, adorably decorated and had all the amenities we needed to relax and be comfortable…from extra towels, streaming channels, to a well stocked kitchen with everything you need to prepare a meal, even tho we didn’t cook ;-). We had 3 teenagers with us, and they each got their own rooms which was great. But the highlight of the home were the wonderfully cute farm animals in the backyard. When I read the reviews, I thought maybe the animals are only there in the summer. But sure enough, the friendly goats and one donkey were there in the middle of winter to be fed snacks so kindly and conveniently provided by the host. It was a treat to feed and pet these adorable and playful creatures. Highly recommend staying here on your trip to the Catskills!

Great space for 2 couples and dogs. Nice areas to hang out together while also having privacy. Fenced in yard with chickens and rabbits was a nice added bonus and just a couple miles outside Margaretville made it a place we will certainly stay at again next time we're in the Catskills

Dove was a great host! We asked to check in a little early and she was able to accommodate us. We had everything we needed in the house. We attended a wedding at Plattekill so having 3 bathrooms was great for getting ready! We absolutely LOVED feeding the goats and donkey!

2nd time we stayed

We have been here two times - the first time was March 2024 and was a perfect stay. This time was lovely too! The owners are highly responsive, the animals are so cute and charming and the space was perfect for our group. The bathrooms were clean, TV worked wellMy friend has severe cat allergies and this flared up a bit and kept her awake both nights. There was a bit of a cat pee smell in the downstairs which we made the owner aware of too. Hopefully they can rectify this - it was the only issue!

Thank you for your review. It has always been a pleasure to host your group. I followed up on the suggested concern regarding a cat urine odor. While I did not find any evidence of cat urine—especially since our residential farm mousers do not enter the house—I did notice the scent of the cleaning solution used on the leather couches. I have since switched to a more natural alternative with a milder fragrance in hopes this resolves the issue. Hope to have you back again next ski season.

Wonderful

We attended a wedding nearby and wanted a place in the vicinity. We basically needed a place to sleep and get ready. We really lucked out! The house is exactly as pictured/described, and very easy to find. The beds were very comfy; there was plenty of space for the 6 of us to spread out. It was decorated beautifully and very homey. Extremely well-stocked with everything you could possibly imagine. Although we didn’t actually spend much time on-site, my family enjoyed the goats, chickens, rooster, bunnies and a tabby kitten. Dove was a pleasure to deal with, always responsive. The Catskills are gorgeous, but especially this time of year. I would definitely recommend booking and would stay again.

Catskills Getaway

This is a lovely property. The house is as described and we found it very comfortable, almost like home. Very clean, everything one could need was available. The huge fenced in yard was perfect for our dog, and I hope she didn’t traumatize the chickens, she was really just having a good time. Our rental was for Sat-Sat. We found the town pretty dead during the week so we cooked all but 2 meals. We had high hopes for hiking but realized that we actually have wonderful hiking trails here at home in Ohio. Very comfortable and clean

This spacious home and yard has all the amenities for every age group. The kitchen is well stocked for any cooking/ grilling you might want to do and the king size bed in the downstairs bedroom is very comfortable. Also located about three miles from quaint village restaurants and shops.

Great place for small group to stay!

We greatly enjoyed our weekend at Dove's lovely home! The house was roomy and comfortable. There was so much space for all of us (4 adults and 2 children). The backyard was the best! Highly recommend for people with kids. There was ample space to play and hang out in the sunshine. The swingset and tricycle was a hit. Thanks, Dove!

Great Place

We had a great time and would come again. The kitchen is wonderfully appointed. The living and dining quarters are spacious. Dove was a pleasure to work with. There is one queen In the master bedroom on second floor, one full in bedroom in a good sized bedroom on second floor and one full bed in smaller bedroom on the first floor. There is twin bed in a very small bedroom on the second floor. ( We wished the bedrooms had queens instead of fulls but the house was as advertised.). The fireplace is works with pellets so no need to bring wood. Great place and really nice owner.

We had a wonderful stay!

Dove has a lovely house in the middle of the mountains. It was very clean and all of the beds were super comfortable. She has everything you could need to make dinner. We actually had Thanksgiving dinner here. We also went to Margaretville and walked around and shopped. Then we bowled a The Ark Bowl. The next day we drove 45 min to Woodstock to shop. It was a wonderful stay and Dove was great!

My family of 5 adults really enjoyed our time in Dove's home! We had plenty of room and Dove was very accommodating. The house was festively decorated for the Fall. Almost anything we could've needed was available throughout the house. Great place to stay while in the area for a wedding!

Gathering for family wedding at Plattekill Mountain

This property is an excellent choice for gatherings. The house comfortably sleeps 7 and has plenty of room to spread out, including a front porch and a large backyard suitable for children as it is fenced in. The host provided everything you could possibly need in the kitchen as well as throughout the house. Everything was very clean and Dove, the homeowner was easily reachable prior to check in as well as during the stay if necessary. I highly recommend.

I am a former Margaretville Central School teacher who has a personal love of house renovation, decorating and dogs! I have 4 grown children and every spring, I am itching to start planting flowers.

Why they chose this property

Obtaining this house was very much surprise and a gem that needed to be uncovered. I love the location...I actually have some students on the cul-de-sac! The house was a mess when I bought it but I was able to see past the piles of garbage and loved its potential. It still has so much work to be done and I have loved every step of the process.

What makes this property unique

This house is uniquely placed near so many amenities of the Northern Catskill region without being out in the middle of nowhere. I hope you enjoy it!
