About Ro

I'm Ro and I'm hosting this house for my friend Mike and live right here on the block. Travels to over 40 countries, for work and leisure, have given me an appreciation for the role a unique & thoughtful guest home plays in the travel experience. I understand the desire to soak up the local vibe of a place without sacrificing comfort and hope that you'll recognize this approach in our guest home.

Ro purchased this house in 2015

Why Ro chose Lower Garden District

This home has a wonderfully elegant and yet cozy feel. It's two stories give both perfect spaces for entertaining as well as private and restful bedrooms. My friend Mike, who comes from a family of New Orleans craftsmen, completed the restoration and many of the original 19th century details were preserved adding so much character. High end appliances, luxurious bathrooms, and fine linens and furnishings make this house a one of a kind home away from home.

What makes this house unique

The home features a lovely back patio and courtyard as well as off street parking. On-street parking is also uniquely easy compared with other parts of the city.

The perfect stay

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough about this house. Location is great! If you know Nola this area is up and coming but if you don’t it may seem like it’s a little off the beaten path but that’s just how Nola is. We felt very safe and the neighbors were friendly. The house was very clean, the beds were comfy and it had everything we needed and then some. The only negative for us was that there were no TVs in the bedrooms. Other than that our stay was 100%. Ro the owner was super easy to work with and available when and if needed. Easy access instructions and easy breezy check out instructions. We will be back!

Lower Garden Home

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in this home for 3 days, 4 nights with our 3 young adult daughters. We gave the girls the master bedroom because there was no way we could put the cot into the second bedroom. The house was very comfortable for the 5 of us. Easy walking distance to the garden and warehouse districts. A little farther to the French Quarter but still walkable. Only draw back is that the house is close to the highway so you have a lot of highway noise and it was a little uncomfortable walking in the immediate area due to the large homeless population sleeping under the highway and on the roof of the abandoned building directly across the street. We used Uber at night. House is well stocked with snacks and beer and wine to purchase. That was a welcoming sight since we arrived around 10 PM. I would definitely recommend this house.

Owner's Response: We're so happy you had a great stay and would recommend the house! To other future guests, our neighborhood is rapidly developing and the abandoned grocery store across the street will soon be replaced with apartment homes. Unless you are highly sensitive to urban noise, the highway traffic is not disturbing once inside the house. We are adding a daybed to the master bedroom to accommodate a friend or child and upgrading the other bed to a queen. Thanks again for your review!

Beautiful House - We Enjoyed Our Stay

  • 5 of 5

We were in New Orleans for my husbands conference, we had our infant with us and preferred to stay in a house rather than a hotel. This home is in a great location for people coming into town for a conference, my husband walked everyday. The location is also close to the WWII Museum, Magazine Street, and St. Charles/Streetcar. We did not have a car, but there is secure off street parking, we walked everywhere and felt safe. It was great to see all of the old architecture in the Garden District.

The home itself was beautiful and you can tell Ro cares for her properties. There was more than enough room for 4 adults and an infant. The outdoor courtyard was great for coffee in the morning and a beer in the evening. The kitchen had everything we needed, but the closest grocery store is a 20 min walk so plan accordingly. We would stay here again and definitely recommend it to friends.

what a spectacular place!

  • 5 of 5

Lovely high ceilings throughout the house give a feeling of such spaciousness. The kitchen is very well equipped and we made breakfast here each morning. The washer and dryer were essential and made life so much easier. The beds were very comfortable and the baths so nicely equipped - a bath mat would be great by the shower - the hardwood floors are a bit slippery. The area is each to walk everywhere - 4 blocks to the street car and 5 to the WW 2 museum and only a block to Magazine. I highly recommend this house to anyone who is able to do stairs and who wants an elegant, lovely place to stay in the lower garden district. Ro was a joy to work with also = eager and willing to do anything we needed. That's a very important part of the stay for us - a gracious host. We will be back!

Louis Armstrong International Airport
Car: not necessary

Enjoy a walkable neighborhood feel with restaurants, shops and cafes lined along Magazine St. which is just one block away. The charming street car line on St Charles is a 5-10 minute walk. This is a quiet pocket of New Orleans but incredibly central to all the attractions of the Crescent City.
