Not as the picture shows

The pictures look great but when we got there the place was a mess and no one knew what the other was doing. We also had someone unlock our door see me and my daughter there said they had the wrong side to clean and went to the other side. The rooms didn't look like the pictures and the front and back yards were not well maintained. Definitely need more communication

Unfortunately a terrible experience

Arrived to driveway full of bottle caps, trash, and cigarette butts. Swiffered the inside floors immediately to find endless dirt and black dog hair. Used more than 5 dry and then wet cloths and all were black. I could not get them clean. Bought flip flops that night to wear in house. The bath towels smelled of mildew and the kitchen floor was rotting in the high traffic area. Unable to use back yard for my dog since it had broken glass in the lawn. The renter next store played loud music all night, and their smoking entered our side of the building. On a Friday night he pulled in at 3am, 5 am, 7 am… blaring rap music and sat in his car playing it for more than 15 minutes. The neighborhood had a lot of run down homes and empty businesses. It was not a nice place and I did not feel safe.

Hi Christine, I am so sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us. I wish that you had reached out so we could have addressed the issues that were in our control to address. I have spoken with the owner of our cleaning company, and have replaced the bath towels. The flooring is not rotting at all, but there is a soft spot in the kitchen that was caused by the settling of the house, it is not a structural issue in any way. I have also spoken with the neighbor about respecting the neighborhood quiet hours.

Sweet little getaway

So this place is quiet, and it's not to far from everything as far as town/ attractions ect. Its very spacious, nice place to stay, owners were nice and very quick to answer all my questions. Definitely need to update pic to show how nice this place actually is its really pretty. Definitely will be coming back to stay when u go to Virginia again!! 😀

My stay at Newport News

The yard wasn’t mowed an we paid for our dog to stay at this house with us there was ants all over the living room an to beat it all we was ask did we take a pillow case from the property an we didn’t even use the pillows provided we brought our own there wasn’t one thing that I would’ve took from there an it made me mad to be accused I’ve never in my life stole anything if I can’t buy it then I don’t need it !!! An this home definitely wasn’t worth the money I paid to stay there plus I was bit by a spider in one of the bedrooms I also paid a cleaning fee an had to clean it myself over all it was just plain nasty !!!

Quiet neighborhood, fenced in backyard great for dog owners

I am a traveling medical technologist, I wanted a place that was relatively close to Sentara CarePlex. Less than 10 minute drive to work, and close to some neighborhood parks. The shared wall of this duplex is in the living room, and that makes the bedrooms on either end of the house. Fairly quiet neighborhood, and the fenced-in yard is perfect for dog owners.

Great Stay

I stayed in 225B for 2.5 months. The place is comfortable and the landlord responds quickly to text message. The place is very spacious for the price. The hardwood floors are in very good condition as well. This listing is one half of a duplex, so there will be people on the other side of the living room wall that share a common foyer. The walls are a little thin. The surrounding area doesn't leave great first impressions, but the street the house is on is the nicest in the neighborhood and I did not have any issues with any of the neighbors.

Not Single Family!

The picture and description make this property appear to be a single family residence, but it is not; there are 2 apartments here. The bathroom looked dirty with black mold. Immediately moved out and the renter would not refund our money.

We always hate to disappoint our guests. We have maintenance ready to respond quickly to service concerns. In this case the guest was at the home for just a few minutes and did not respond to our attempt to address her concerns. I wish we had been able to provide what she was hoping to find. Regarding the refund, this home is typically used by longer term guests after the summer vacation season. I had turned away several multi-month guests since the home was reserved for her. Most long term autumn guests book during the summer. I would have been happy to refund her money if I could have replaced the guests I had turned away. I do however try to learn from guest disappointment. In this case I've reviewed the listing to be sure that it is quite clear that we offer one two-bedroom suite of a duplex. Guests continue to find it a nice size and great value.
