What you can expect: You'll receive many unique benefits as our guest. The location of the cabin offers lake and mountain activities year around. Summer mountain air is warm and the lake is refreshing, fall leaves over the mountains are absolutely beautiful reflecting on the lake, spring offers cool hiking weather with beautiful wild flowers blooming, and winter snow covered mountains are lovely to view from the cozy cabin or hot tub. Views from the cabin are second to none.

Suggested Area Activities:

There are many things to do: hiking, boating, fishing, horseback riding, biking, skiing, white water rafting, wine tasting and most of all, relaxing.

Watauga Lake has 106 miles of shoreline. More than half of Watauga Lake's shoreline lies within the Cherokee National Forest and cannot be developed. The lake is very clean since it is mountain spring fed. The Raven provides 2 canoes locked at the community dock. The location of the boat dock is close and just a few mins walk or a mins drive down the mountain. There are public boat launches close by and local marinas to rent a boat. This where you would launch your boat, buy gas and store your trailer if you brought your own watercraft.

There are many great hiking trails including the Appalachian Trail which goes along Watauga Lake. There is a local winery called Watauga Lake Winery which offers wine tastings and other fun activities throughout the year. There are several local restaurants where you can dine while looking over the lake and mountains.

Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Valle Crucis, Grandfather Mountain and Linville are all close by with many activities, stores and restaurants too.

Beautiful Property

  • 5 of 5

Nice property, with beautiful view and helpful owners. The house was nicely appointed, with a very open living area. The lake amenities are a very generous touch from owners, though the weather kept us from being able to utilize. Easy to access lake, though not directly attached to house(60 second drive down hill)

The beds were a little rough on us downstairs, but still private and nice bathrooms. Enjoyed our stay!

Good, with a few updates/fixes could be even better

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful setting, very peaceful - worked well for our weekend getaway. The furniture out on the main deck (a rotted out picnic table we weren't sure was safe to sit on and some stained chairs) could use some work and the canoe lock code didn't work for one of the two canoes promised which was a bummer but otherwise the house and views were great, loved the views from the master bedroom and Lori was very responsive in trying to fix the canoe issue and with info prior to arrival.

Great and secluded

  • 5 of 5

We went as a family vacation and stayed with my sister and parents and our children. The house is in an amazing location the views are amazing and there are not neighbors on top of you. The house itself is so beautiful. The upstairs master is to die for. The only bad point is that there was trash leftover from a previous renter under one of the seat/shelf in one of the rooms. The house slept 8 comfortably and it was so quiet for the kids. The one major draw back I had is that the railing on the deck is too far apart so if you have kids you have to keep an eye on them. We had a 1 year old in the group that ended up sticking their whole head out of the railing. Also bring food for the week it's a hike to the nearest grocery store. The lake is amazing so still and quiet. You have easy access to the river.

Great place, beautiful view- private

  • 5 of 5

Spent 4 nights here in early July. The views were spectacular. Hot tub was clean, rooms were more than adequate and having 2 refrigerators was certainly a plus. Rooms downstairs were a bit chilly (AC zoning) compared to 3rd floor but for a cabin in the woods, no complaints. I dealt with Lori on just a couple of occasions and she was very accommodating. A long, steep walk to and from the lake so we always drove. Lake too was beautiful. If you want privacy, room for fun, and a postcard view- this is the place.

Great unique house with incredible views in a beautiful area of the country

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at this unique house in the beautiful mountains of eastern Tennessee on Lake Watauga. We very impressed and satisfied with the house. We had four adults and three kids ages 7, 5, and 2. All seven of us loved it.

Lori and Rose were phenomenal to work with. Easily the most responsive and helpful of any host we've rented from before (and we've had good experiences in the past so the bar was set high).

We did so much on our trip: canoeing, swimming, fishing, hiked the Appalachian Trail, campfires, went to the beach on the other side of the lake, explored the gorgeous countryside, and much more. We rented a pontoon boat from Fish Springs Marina for 3 of the days and parked the boat overnight at the big dock that comes with the house. The pontoon boat allowed us to see most of the lake which has unbelievable views and nice warm water. Quite a bit different than the suburbs of Chicago.

The views of the mountains and lake from the house are spectacular. We brought a bunch of food and ate many meals outside on the 2nd floor deck which has plenty of seating. The 2 full size fridges were nice to have too.

The views from the 3rd floor windows are incredible.

The road up to the house is very steep but it's not an issue once you get used to it. It's a 5 minute walk to the dock (I actually timed it out of curiosity). But since it was so steep and we had little kids we just drove down there (1 minute) where you can park on the road by the dock. The lake water was 81 degrees and we spent a lot of time in the lake swimming and jumping off the dock, swimming off the pontoon, and wading in shallow areas on our canoe trips.

The house and beds are very comfortable. I slept great each night.

Overall very happy with the house and area. Very unique and fun trip we will remember forever.

It will be our first choice again next year :-)

  • 5 of 5

Though the walk to the lake was quite a bit further than I expected, it was drivable in a couple of minutes. The views are awesome, and the home offers a lot of privacy. The middle floor acts as a buffer between the master bedroom and the rest of the bedrooms. Thanks Lori!
