Great cottage next to lake

Would recommend! Perfect budget friendly cottage for a stay next to the beach. We loved the beach wagon provided. However no beach chairs or beach towels, so bring your own. Quick drive into new Buffalo to check out Michigan.

Great location and nice layout. Just needs some TLC requiring light maintenance and repairs. Old smart TV in living area that requires updating. Numerous light bulbs out. Lock box should be mounted and not hung on the door handle. It can easily be stolen and opened elsewhere. A keypad entry lock makes more sense. Shower heads should be replaced with an adjusted spray unit. Somebody needs to provide a more critical eye on the condition of the property.

It was perfect for our family of four for the first part of the week and then the grandparents the second part. The cottage is very clean and the deck is spacious. I would agree with the other reviewer to bring more bath towels. One of the toilets wasn't working; however maintenance was over within the morning. The walk to the beach is tough with no boardwalk, but the view is worth it. We would love to make it a yearly trip!

Otherwise, pics are a bit deceiving as they leave the impression that there is an unobstructed view from the door, rather than a big house. Thank you for supplying firewood. In off season, consider stocking as a routine courtesy. Door lock was problematic but mgmt and maintenance were very responsive.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were satisfied overall but have a few complaints. The TVs were inoperable because there were no batteries in the remote so at 8:45pm we drove out to the gas station (come to find out it closes at 9pm). We tried calling the phone number and no one answered. The deck furniture is missing despite what it shows in the picture on the listing. 2 out of 3 rows in the grill did not light (probably clogged). The deck faces the front of another house, which doesn't feel private. The upstairs mattresses are very firm, my friends found them to be uncomfortable. The only view is of houses closely situated all around you. The place was quite clean though.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: First off- we LOVE the Colfax Cottage. We've been staying every year for the last few years. I have ZERO complaints but do have feedback. The place needs a bit of an update. The rugs in the bathroom need a good washing, the blankets have stains, the guest blanket has a huge rip in it. The light bulbs dont all work. I honestly love it so much though that i couldn't bring myself to complain about it while we were there. It just needs a little more love. When we go for two weeks we try to keep it very clean but there isn't a vacuum. Yes there is in the closet but to be honest, it is worthless. It doesn't even pick up sand. I asked the cleaner mid week and she agreed.

Kitchen refrigerator wasn’t working properly so your food got wet. The master shower had mold on the tile. You are paying for location so that part was amazing. Needed cleaned up and a few things taken care of . Over all not a bad experience just not what I expected for $3k a week
