Amazing stay at the Yosemite South Gate Villa!!!
The Yosemite South Gate Villa was incredible. It really exceeded our expectations. The view from the house and pool was so beautiful in person. We thoroughly enjoyed the large outdoor space which allowed for not only swimming but basketball, bocce ball, and BBQing as well. The hot tub was a huge plus since it was a bit chilly at night. The house was well equipped with everything our group needed. Charlie was very welcoming and had wonderful advice for us when we arrived. Our group would return in a heartbeat the next time we're in the Yosemite area!
Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful!!!
This location was perfect for us. We had a family/friends group of 10 and the house was perfect. It was quiet, secluded, close to forests and small town.
The service and attention we received by Dave ("Charlie") was outstanding. His knowledge of the location was excellent! And his attention to detail was excellent. If we needed any assistance with the house or nearby events, he was most accommodating!!!
We would return to this home in a "heart-beat"!
James, the owner, was always very prompt in his communications.
In short - we LOVED the place!!!
We have stayed at many VRBO homes over the past 5 years all over the world. This was the most beautiful we have ever seen. Unfortunately because of the fires we had to evacuate. James was kind generous and understanding of this. We will be planning another stay with him one day but not during peak fire season.
The property has amazing views - even better than described. The house is full of things to do ranging from table tennis (ping pong), darts, pool, air hockey, bacce, Yahtzee and more! So great for kids, teens and adults alike. Lovely pool and hot tub and massive grounds. The owner replies to all queries super quickly and effectively and the caretaker, Charlie, is an extremely helpful and thoughtful person who helped make our stay super enjoyable despite the big fires that actually closed Yosemite. He shared with us local information about things to do and places to eat that made a huge difference to the quality of our visit. He was exceptionally kind to our whole family.
I would give this place a 6 star rating if it were possible!
Fantastic place. Lots of space and fabalous views
Enjoyed our stay. Charlie the caretaker is very helpful. Lots of space, pool area is fantastic and my son loved the fact that his bedroom was in the pool house. Close to Bass Lake and Angel Falls which is well worth a visit.
Most amazing view!
One of the best vacation homes we've ever stayed in! The incredible view and outdoor play space was amazing!! Loved the pool area, the porch (ate most of our meals out on the porch), playing bocce ball, the hammocks and the breathtaking sunrises/sunsets! We had four families totaling 8 adults and 3 children and the accommodations were great...comfortable beds, nice layout of the bedrooms so no one felt cramped, clean updated bathrooms. Close to town for shopping or dining out and not too far from Yosemite to enjoy all it has to offer (amazing waterfalls)!! Last but not least, Charles (the caretaker of the Villa) bent over backwards to be sure we had everything we needed! He even took time to make each of the kids a personalized, wooden name plague as a souvenir!!
This Villa is the perfect hub for groups and families to take advantage of the scenic pleasures of the Yosemite area. There are numerous hikes and vistas to visit in the immediate area. Enjoy day trips to Yosemite without sacrificing the convenience of shopping and dining selections. Bass Lake is 5 miles away and it offers a huge selection of water activities. The lake also has a few dining options with The Forks consistently voted the best burger in the area. Duceys restaurant at the lines also offers fine dining and there grill upstairs is delicious and has outdoor seating with lake views. 5 star dining is available at Ernas Elserberry House and this restaurant has international acclaim and is very very good! (Reservations required) Oakhurst has 2 major Supermarkets and all the conveniences of the city while still being a nice mountain town. The villas location is close to town but tucked away behind a couple ridges so it feels very secluded. Red tailed Hawks sore in the canyons and there is an abundance of wildlife such as deer, fox, wild turkeys etc. the location of the Villa is right off the original road to Yosemite that was used in the 1920s before the present Southern Yosemite Highway was built. The oiginal last outpost "Bissett Station" was the last place for provisions before entering the park. There is a monument at the location very near the Villa, it is a location that has a lot of history as the parks early visitors traveled the rough trail to get a glimpse of the wonder of Yosemite Valley. The Monument is on the corner of Old Yosemite Road and Road 620 right at the turn into the Villas neighborhood.
A lot of folks spend a significant amount just recharging at the villa itself, relaxing on the beautiful Veranda or playing some friendly games in the game room. Enjoy!
