Come and stay in our beautiful country home in the spectacular southern Sierra. We are only 17 gorgeous miles from the entrance into Yosemite National Park. Spend the day hiking the trails in Yosemite then come home and enjoy a refreshing swim in the large, private in-ground pool. Relax in our comfy hammocks or play horseshoes and badminton. Like to read? Curl up in one of our outdoor lounge chairs, relax, read and enjoy the sweet smelling mountain air. We have a stainless steel grill to BBQ to your heart’s delight. After dinner soak in our secluded therapeutic mineral spa reviving sore, trail weary muscles. You are only 7 minutes from the mountain village of Oakhurst where you can dine out in one of our many restaurants, take in a movie or perhaps a play at the Golden Chain Theater. A 30-minute drive up historic Hwy 49 takes you to Mariposa, an authentic gold rush town with the oldest continuously working courthouse in California, and visit one of the best museums in the area. Bass Lake is only 10 minutes away from our country home if you want to spend the day fishing and boating. Our area has many beautiful drives to take, trails to hike and things to do. Come and visit and you will want to come back again and again and again.

About Christina Ralston
Retired RN. Grew up in Los Angeles area and always wanted to live in the mountains. I'm an outdoor loving girl. Anytime I can be out hiking, exploring or swimming, I'm in heaven.
Christina Ralston purchased this Chateau / Country House in 1987
Why Christina Ralston chose Oakhurst
This property was beautiful and had the perfect location. Close enough to town but still in the forest. We get snow but not too much. Oakhurst is a family friendly town and welcomes travelers with open arms. Beautiful, easy drive to Yosemite or explore historic Hwy 49 with it's rich mining history.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
Location, location, location! In the forest, but only 45 minutes from a city. We can still do a beach trip in one day as we are only 3.5 hours from Monterey Bay. We are right outside the southern entrance to Yosemite National Park, who can ask for more than that.

The house was beautifully furnished and very comfortable. The kitchen was well-stocked with cooking essentials. Kids loved the snack basket and the large front yard. The Lewis Creek hike was fun with the waterfall in full flow.
Very nice place . We did enjoyed 😍
The property was very clean great quiet location home has great character.
Great property Chris was great even had some goodies that were left for us greatly appreciated. Nice quiet location. Had everything we needed for our stay.
Comfortable, quiet, well-equipped house. Loved our stay!
Chris and Jim made us welcome and even provided a lovely bottle of wine and the makings for s’mores. The house is spacious, comfortable and quiet. We enjoyed the hot tub, especially early in the morning when we could look out at the trees and mountains. Deer peacefully grazed around the house in the early morning and late afternoon.
The kitchen was spacious and well-equipped. It was especially nice to have the crockpot, which allowed us to put dinner on to cook in the morning so when we came home from Yosemite in the evening dinner was easy to put on the table.
The weather was pretty warm even though it was December, so we didn’t use the fireplace. The house was plenty warm with the central heating, which we only used when we were in the house and turned down to the mid-50s at night.
The bedrooms were large and the beds comfortable with nice linens. The bathrooms were also large and had fluffy towels.
The house has large windows that let in ample light and provide beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. We especially enjoyed the living room with it’s comfortable recliners and couches. We spent many enjoyable hours there reading in the peace and quiet.
Our teenaged daughters loved each having a room to themselves. One of the nice things about the house is that it feels like a home. We had a good time preparing meals together and playing games at the dining room table.
Oakhurst is a cute town—we got pedicures, went through the antique shops and thrift stores, and had one meal out at El Cid (decent food and really friendly service). We also visited the pet store on Road 426. They had a nice collection of reptiles that our kids were thrilled with! Our kids kept commenting on how friendly everyone was and noticed the strong community connections. The city Christmas tree was beautiful!
We would have loved to go to a play at the community theater, but they were closed this week. That’s something to look forward to next time.
It was so nice to be able to bring our little dog with us. The enclosed dog yard was perfect for short visits outside in the early morning and late at night when a walk would have been more difficult.
Truly enjoyed our restful stay in Oakhurst—thank you Chris and Jim!
Wonderful Property & Incredibly Dog Friendly
The house was warm and cozy just like home. Everything we needed was available. Very clean and spacious and our dogs so enjoyed being able to run freely on the fenced in property. Highly recommend this vacation rental, we will definitely be back!
Quiet, comfortable retreat
We loved our stay in Oakhurst. Chris's house is on a back lane with views of trees and land all around. The neighbors were far enough away that it felt very private and the nights were so quiet! We loved all the thoughtful touches from the gift basket of snacks and s'more-making ingredients to the bottle of wine they gifted us in honor of our anniversary! The house was comfortable and had everything we needed to cook/grill, etc. Our dog especially loved having multiple large areas to roam, sniff and get into nature. We did too! It was too cold for the pool, but the spa was so relaxing. I'd come back in the summer for the pool, and the winter for a cozy experience in the snow. Had a great time!
