About David M. Bogue

Dave and Lucy live in Burlington, Vermont, where Dave grew up, and where both graduated from UVM. They have two grown children, Emily and Max, who live out-of-state.

David M. Bogue purchased this cottage in 2013

Why David M. Bogue chose Alburgh

We wanted a cottage with lake frontage. We saw the cottage, recognized its potential to become a lovely and inviting home, and turned it into one! We love the addition of the sunroom on the front of the cottage, and the open feeling we were able to create in the cottage because of it.

What makes this cottage unique

Dave and Lucy love the openness of the land in Alburgh. It allows you to fully appreciate what the sky has to offer: amazing cloud formations; storms approaching over the lake; breath-taking sunrises and sunsets, moonrises and moonsets; full rainbows and double rainbows; birds such as osprey, gulls, and an occasional bald eagle. We love it all, and it is constantly changing and surprising us!

Wonderful place and view

  • 4 of 5

We had a nice stay , would come back again . The only problem was thousand of tiny moths . A screen door might help from them getting in the house . I'm not sure if that was just the time of year but they were around am and pm .

Owner's Response: I’m sorry that bug hatch happened during your stay. That is the first time we have seen that insect and they were around for 4 or 5 days. I suspect it had something to do with the prolonged hot spell we had in July. Once the temperature dropped into the 70’s they disappeared.

Fabulous

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time in this clean and comfortable cottage. We explored the islands, Alburgh Dunes Park, Burlington and Montreal. The location was fabulous. We loved taking day trips and then spending the evenings fishing, swimming and boating in the lake. The view from the cottage is amazing. We enjoyed meeting and chatting with the hosts and appreciate their kindness in providing us with everything we needed, including life jackets and a canoe.

Quiet peacefully tranquility

  • 4 of 5

My family and I loved the place it is well maintained and newly re-built, we will be vacationing there again in the future. The owner is quite gracious and helpful with any needs we had, even providing an extra fan during the intense heatwave being experienced at the time. Thanks Dave, I enjoyed our conversation and meeting you.

Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

Clean, spacious, accommodating for our pet and relatives who came for the afternoon. Easy to find. Bringing your own drinking water was the only downside and maybe having block out curtains in the bedroom, but we just got up with the sun and adjusted to that time schedule.

Champlain Island visitors flock to its apple orchards and vineyards to sample cider and wines. For kids, some of these areas have farm animals to see and pet, apples to pick, and creemees to savor. Take part in summer and fall festivals, or enjoy a visit to St. Anne's Shrine and the ancient coral reef, both in Isle LaMotte. Lake Champlain offers many opportunities for water sports such as fishing, boating, kite surfing, and more! Alburgh Sand Dunes State Park is the perfect place to spend a day with the kids, playing on the large sandy beach and splashing around in its clear water. Love to golf? Alburgh Golf Links is only a mile away. Finish off a day of sight-seeing and activities with a delicious meal at one of the Islands' excellent restaurants, or cook a meal in the cottage's fully equipped kitchen and eat while watching a beautiful sunset. Burlington and Montreal are both also easy and fun day trips.
