About David Garn
David and Carolyn visited Turkey for the first time in 2011 and were immediately entranced with the area. We enjoy outdoor activities having at various times owned sailing boats, classic cars, bicycles (including a classic Tandem) and a selection of different tents. We are looking forward to using our new villa as a base to explore more of Turkey and especially some of the ancient sites of the area. Having recently taken up Scuba diving, this is an excellent location for us. David works with computers and can link to the office from almost anywhere but as Carolyn manages the external examinations in a secondary school, we are still limited in how much time we can holiday in Turkey, so we are keen to share the experience with others.
David Garn purchased this Villa in 2012
Why David Garn chose Ortaca
A spectacular area, full of history and with tremendous scenery. This property combines access to a splendid beach with the privacy of a personal pool in the garden and all this in a Mediterranean climate. The people are friendly, the food is good and the overall mood is relaxing.
What makes this Villa unique
The ability to keep to ourselves when we want but to join in communal activities when we choose.
Pool / Spa
This was the 2nd time I visited Sarigame with my family, it is a lovely place with beautiful scenery
The Villa is beautifully designed and well maintained, clean and tidy.
The pool is also is clean and maintained well. Its very spacious with different rooms and WC/showers, etc. At night the whole area is well lit up and so is the pool and the garden. The Villa overall is amazing and well built, but I would recommend having some media entertainment i.e play station, xbox, as the TV sky was not working but it does have a DVD player but not a variety of films.
Had my children with me aged 7 and 11, lucky they had there tablets, so made the most of the WiFi, good connection around the villa.
Overall a very nice villa and I would love to visit again....!!!
P.s. The Lycia staff where very helpful.
Wow, wow, wow!!!!!!
We have never stayed in a villa before so we were unsure of what to expect but we were not disappointed. The villa was perfect and exactly as described. There were 4 adults and 4 children (aged 16,14,11 and 9) and as the villa was so big we all felt like we had our own space. The cooking facilities were superb-we used the bbq quite a few times. The cleaners cleaned the villa after we had been there a week and they did a great job but as the villa is so nice it was easy to keep clean.
The town itself was so relaxed, no hassle what so ever-apart from Sunday which is market day, but we enjoyed walking through and
seeing what was on offer. The food in the restaurants was the best food we have ever eaten whilst we have been abroad.
The local supermarket would drive you back to the villa after you had shopped. Which was great!
We enjoyed it so much we have already booked to come back next year!!!!!!
From Villa Garnishi, a ten minute walk takes you into Sarigerme village. From the other end of the street, there is a ten minute walk to the beach.
Sarigerme beach (Blue Flag) extends for almost 7 kms and is composed of fine dry sand. As a designated National Park Conservation Area, there is a nominal charge for access. There are water sports and loungers available on the beach and a lifeguard monitored safe bathing area
Travel to Sarigerme is through Dalaman airport, a 15 minute car journey away. Airport transfers can be arranged if required.
Several airlines serve Dalaman with flights from the UK, including British Airways, Easyjet, KLM, Thomas Cook, Thompson and Pegasus. Turkish Airlines supports Dalaman by routing through Istanbul.
The village of Sarigerme is a ten minute walk from the villa.
Dalaman and Ortaca are nearest towns each about 15 minutes by car or bus.
Gocek yacht harbour is about 30 minutes by car.
Fethiye is approximately 50 minutes by car along a newly built dual carriageway.
Dalyan and Kaunos are within a 30 minute drive.
The village of Sarigerme is about ten minute walk from Villa Garnishi.
There are several tour operators in Sarigerme offering a range of day trips and tours such as Jeep safari, white water rafting, boat trips specialising in the “12 Islands” Tour, as well as scuba diving and snorkeling, quad biking and horse riding.
If you choose to rent a car, there are many other opportunities opened up for you.
The town of Dalyan is less than 30 minutes away by car and the Turtle protection beach with its sanctuary is just 5 minutes further. Look out for the Giant Loggerhead Turtles which breed between May and August. It is possible to go on early morning viewing trips to the beach to feed the turtles.
From Dalyan, there is a fleet of boats that can take you along the river to Koyzegi lake, or to Iztuzu beach and thermal springs.
There is also a ferry to the ancient ruins of Kaunos and the cliff tombs.
The local towns of Dalaman and Ortaca are just 15 minutes away by car and offer a more extensive shopping experience.
Further along the coast, you can get to the Gocek yacht harbour in about 30 minutes where most of the boat trips around the islands depart. The boats will take you to swim in several picturesque locations. Some offer fresh fish barbecued on board. Definitely not to be missed.
The larger town of Fethiye is about 50 minutes from Sarigerme and is notable for its Fish Market, where you can choose your fish and then get it cooked to order.
The famous beach at Olu Deniz (the blue lagoon picture on nearly every Turkey holiday advert) is just the other side of Fethiye.
Further afield but still in day trip territory, try a ride to the spectacular Saklikent Gorge but go prepared to get wet!
Changeover Day: Flights to Dalaman can be at odd times and days, so we try to make the changeover time flexible to accommodate this fact. Please contact David if you want to request a late checkout time. There is no minimum rental period and we are happy to fit in with your preferred flights wherever possible.
