Close To Attractions, But Why Leave The Hot Tub, Fire Pit Pool Table, And More.
The location of this cabin is definitely the appeal, but there are so many creature comforts at the property that you may not ever want to leave. The fully equipped kitchen with stainless appliance is much more than you find at most rental cabins, so bring your food, grill on the Weber (spare tank included), and settle in with a bottle of wine in front of the gas log fireplace. There's Dish Network and free WIFI, and even a stereo with Bose speakers for your enjoyment, but there's plenty of appeal outside, too. The custom stone fire pit (kindling and fire wood is provided) and relaxing Adirondack chairs will keep you occupied roasting marshmallows for S'mores or telling stories of the day's activities. Adjacent is the bubbling hot tub, toasty warm year round for a relaxing soak while counting the stars.
Back inside, enjoy the 8-foot slate pool table or the dart board as you like, but you will absolutely notice the pillow-top king mattress when you finally retire. There is a down comforter and luxury pillows, all dressed in high thread count cotton linens.

About Tim Goodwin
I am an avid traveler who also happens to invest as part of that lifestyle. I visit the Smokies often and own a property management company in Bryson City (Watershed Cabins, Watershed Resort, and Smoky Mountain Cabins). When I discovered Graham County after years of being in neighboring Swain, I discovered an area with a slightly different feel. Not noticeable by some, but I could see this was a bit more secluded, a bit more quiet, and a bit more simple, yet was just an additional 10-15 minutes from the areas surrounding Fontana Lake and the Nantahala River that I have enjoyed for over 15 years.
Tim Goodwin purchased this Cabin in 2015
Why Tim Goodwin chose Stecoah
I was helping some friends buy a cabin in the area, and discovered the investment value of Graham County was excellent. I was so impressed that when a neighboring cabin came on the market, I bought it, and Buckhorn was born. If you are interested in additional room in a neighboring cabin, the 2 bedroom Thunderhead cabin is easily walkable and the 3 bedroom Big Swag is also nearby.
What makes this Cabin unique
1 bedroom cabins are fairly rare, and couples tend to get forced into paying for a bedroom they really don't need. Or couples with small kids might want a sleeping spot that is little better than just a sofa, so I added the Murphy bed for additional sleeping. This also works for singles or other adults that may want to keep the costs down without having to share a bed. I designed this cabin for these situations, but put features like the Bose speakers, luxury linens, and the stainless appliances in there because I don't believe that budget travel should skimp on certain items. There's always camping for that, right?

Great quiet time
The cabin was well cleaned and well stocked would stay here again. Was not hard to find. My small car had no problem.
As advertised. Great Place!
My wife and I decided to have a getaway and Buckhorn was the prefect place to do so. It is secluded (there are other houses around but that was not a problem for us) and it was nice to have a quiet weekend to ourselves. The house was clean and we didn't have any problems. We were able to enjoy the hot tub in the snow! It began to snow on Friday night and continued to flurry throughout the entire weekend. The driveway is steep but we were able to get in and out even with about half an inch of snow on the ground. We did have a four wheel drive truck though. I would highly recommend this cabin to couples who are looking to get away. Bryson City is about 30 minutes away and we went there everyday. It has fantastic restaurants and my wife enjoyed the shops. All in all it was a great experience!
Great place if your ridin couldnt have better spot
Perfect riding place
Nice place with all the amenities!
If I had one complaint it would be friendliness for motorcycles. The lane in and up the driveway is steep and could be challenging for some motorcyclists skills. With that being said the rest of the experience was great. We enjoyed the hot tub, fireplace and convenience to the Trail of the Dragon and other great motorcycle roads in the area.
Nice area. Great house!
The area is very nice, very wooded, quiet and secluded, but with several areas of interest within 30 minutes drive. The steep driveway up to the house was a beast but we managed (if wet/leaves or icy it would be near impossible, but you can always walk up if needed), 4WD highly recommended. The house itself was great, really everything you could ask for, except for black lady bugs everywhere (only outside) that looked very much like ticks, which creeped us out at first but as a sign inside explained, they are in the midst of taking care of the problem. Otherwise it was fantastic! Hot tub was actually hot and furniture was homey and comfortable. Dogs allowed a huge plus (he loved it!). Would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet getaway with some interesting options around for fun.
Great Weekend Get Away
My husband and I were looking for a place to have a quiet, mountain get away. This property was definitely what we were looking for. There is a hot tub, fire place, pool table, dart board and board games. It is located on a drive with several other similar cabins but the area definitely feels private. The second bedroom is not a private room. It is a pull down bed in the loft with the pool table. It would probably work nice for kids but may not work well for 2 couples. The drive way is steep and was difficult to get up because it was muddy. If it were to be icy or had there been more rain, we would have probably not been able to drive up it. If you are looking for hiking, there isn't too much within the close vicinity. We were able to find Yellow Creek Falls which was about 30 minutes away and a pretty easy hike to a nice waterfall. Overall, we really enjoyed our time and it was a great to stay for a weekend trip.
This property is very convenient to the Tail of the Dragon (Deal's Gap) so all motorcyclists and car enthusiasts will love that convenience. The access is easy for experienced riders and there is room to park a trailer at the cabin. The other popular rides like the Cherohala Skyway, the Moonshiner 28 are also within easy reach using Buckhorn as your base camp. If it's a mountain bike or a boat that you prefer, then you'll also love the convenience to the Tsali Recreation area with its awesome single-track trail system and the Lemmons Branch boat launch. For whitewater rafting, the Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC) is only 18 miles away and for plenty of other excitement, there is an easy drive to Bryson City (23 miles) and Cherokee (34 miles to Harrah's casino). Nature lovers may prefer the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest just 24 miles away.
