The house was built in the 1940's and was newly remodeled in 2014. It is a great place for a weekend get away or week long vacation. It is within 15 minutes of the Tail of the Dragon. The Dragon is located on US 129 and has 318 curves in 11 miles and is considered by many as the world's best motorcycling and sports car roads. The house is located just 1 mile off of the moonshiner 28, a paved road for easy access, and a short gravel driveway with covered parking, makes it an ideal spot for motorcyclist and sports cars.
The house has beautiful wood flooring throughout. The stairway is rough sawn wood with rustic railing. The living room ceiling is very old corrugated metal. The lighting above the kitchen sink is old mason jars to add to the charm and warmth of the old home place. The old fashioned front porch has an open ceiling so you can enjoy the sound of rain on an old tin roof and is the length of the house.
It has 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths. The bedroom on the main level has a queen bed and the bathroom is connected, but has a separate entrance from utility room. The upstairs bedroom is 2 full beds, with a seating area and a deck with table and 2 chairs and a private entry. The bathroom has a huge walk in shower. Both bathrooms have lots of extra towels and wash clothes for your convenience. Extra linens are also provided for both bedrooms. The beds are all covered in very comfortable linens.
The kitchen is fully equipped with all new appliances (full refrigerator, electric stove/w oven & microwave). Also includes toaster, coffee maker, blender, crock pot, dinnerware, cookware, flatware, cooking and serving utensils. The dining table seats 4 , the wood bar seats 3 and looks into the living room so you can watch TV while you enjoy your meal.
So come enjoy your morning coffee on the upper deck while breathing in the fresh mountain air. What better way to start your day! Before you leave for a day of adventure start your dinner in the crock pot and come home to a home cooked meal. You can end your day making s'mores, relaxing by the fire pit & doing some star gazing. The peacefulness of this place will take you back to a simpler day and time, while making some lasting new memories.
It is located about 1 mile from beautiful Lake Fontana. It is a central location to many area attraction and is about a 15 minute drive to the Tail of the Dragon, and just a short drive to Harrah's Casino, Cherohala Skyway, Great Smoky Mountain Railroad, Fontana Dam, Joyce Kilmer Natonal Forest where in early to mid June the Fireflies light up in unison, and numerous other attractions.
The area is great for hiking, biking, motorcycling, lake fishing, fly fishing, boating, swimming, white water rafting or just relaxing. There is also some amazing places for photography here, as Graham County is one of North Carolina's most remote counties.

No refunds will be made due to failure of non essential items such as TV's, WIFI, air conditioners, washer/dryer, microwave or other convenience items. We will make every effort to repair as quickly as possible. Not responsible for food items lost in refrigerator if it were to go out. Refunds will not be given due loss of electricity to cabin due to power outages that are beyond our control. The name appearing on the reservation is legally responsible for payment, all the actions of the occupants and any damage fee applicable & imposed. Check-out is 11:00 AM. CHECK-in:4:00 PM. If cabin is occupied after 11:00 on date of departure, occupant will be charged for an additional night's rent unless arrangements are made with owner. You agree to indemnify & hold harmless the owner(s) from any claim or demand arising from use of the rental unit or surrounding property. A maximum of (6) people may occupy the unit. If you wish to have visitors it must be approved by the owner. If it is determined that more than (6) people are occupying the unit you maybe ask to leave and no refunds will be given. Pets will be allowed with approval of the owner and an additional fee will be charged. If it appears a pet has occupied the house without approval of the owner your damage deposit will not be refunded. If the premises are damaged due to the pet you will be held responsible for the damages. Pets must be taken outside to relieve themselves. NO puppy pads are to be used in the house & the pet must be house broken. NO smoking inside the house. It is permitted outside only. Cigarettes must be disposed of in the ashtrays provided,ashtrays must be cleaned prior to your departure.

If you truly love adventure and own a motorcycle or sports car you have to check out 129 or better known as the Dragon. And on your way to the Dragon stop by and visit Fontana Dam. You can get some gorgeous photos of Fontana Lake and surrounding scenery here. Another great spot to visit is Joyce Kilmer National Forest. Especially if you are in the area in early to mid June, you can see an amazing show of synchronized Fireflies. Joyce Kilmer is one of the few places in the world you can experience this natural phenomenon. It is well worth the drive to catch this show. The Cherohala Skyway is also a favorite drive for locals as well as tourist. You can do some breath taking photography here as well as numerous other spots around this remote area.

This house once belonged to distant relatives of mine, who all lived out of town, and came to visit as often as possible. With aging they were no longer able to enjoy it as they once had and with much sorrow to them decided to sell. They offered it to us and we decided to buy. It was bitter sweet to them as well as us. They are now very pleased with all the renovations that we made to the place and are happy that it ended up being kept in the family. Now it is already to be shared with you.

The house has an old fashioned feel to it, as it was originally built in the 1940's. During the renovation we wanted to keep that feel and took every measure possible to do so. It is nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains. In the morning you can walk outside and see the beauty of this area all around you, without every leaving your porch. It is a little piece of Heaven here on earth and we think you will agree once you visit us.
