About Ron and Karen Murray

We purchased a beautiful piece of property on the Deschutes River and decided to build our dream log home. It took us over two years and we did as much of the work as we could. We spent countless hours driving from our home in the valley to the property and did things we never imagined we were capable of. We designed it with our grandchildren in mind and know when they are older we will have many happy memories with them. The home is more then a building to us. It is our heart. We hope all who visit leave with wonderful memories.

Perfect Family Vacation Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed our week in this beautiful home right on the river! So fun to watch the deer every morning in the backyard. Several times we drove up river about 3 miles to put in the kayaks and float down to the house. Very peaceful and relaxing. This house is in a great location to Sunriver as well as surrounding Bend, Mount Bachelor and all the fun and exciting adventures around this area. The house had everything we needed to enjoy our stay and felt like home away from home! Would 100% recommend this house to anyone and would stay again. Only suggestion would be to have stairs to back yard from back deck!

Perfect home, perfect location

I can’t say enough about this home. Thank you so much to the Murrays for opening it up for others to enjoy! We traveled down from Seattle with three families and it was perfect for both the adults and the small children. It’s a great setup inside and out. We loved riding the bikes and floating the river! The neighbors are super friendly as well. We hope to come back next summer!

Wow! Just Wow!

  • 5 of 5

I don’t think I could be any more excited to recommend this cabin to everyone. The pictures just don’t do this home justice. The thoughtful layout of the property couldn’t have been better planned. You can tell it was designed by the homeowners with family and friends in mind. We felt so special even as strangers. This home is spacious, rustic, unique, and simply beautiful! Our group is still talking about how much they loved our trip. I have rented many homes via VRBO and the cleanliness of this home upon our arrival will guaranteed go unmatched! Each beautifully decorated bedroom had a large bathroom and gorgeous balcony views of the Deschutes river. The loft overlooking the living area is stunning and the kitchen space with a large table that provided ample seating for our group is to boot. We LOVED our family meals at the table and thoroughly enjoyed watching the deer frolick along the shoreline from our backyard to the next. I’d also highly recommend watching the fog dissipate away over the river out on the dock with a warm cup of coffee or hot chocolate in hand. We can not wait for the opportunity to stay here again and hope that if you’re considering this property that you don’t look anywhere else to book. This place is all of your cabin in the woods dreams come true. Thank you Ron and Karen for sharing your home with us and for making us feel so welcomed and special with all of the little touches from the decor to the cleanliness! We will be back!

Cue the deer, vacation time is here...

  • 5 of 5

We rented the house for 7 adults and there was plenty of space for everyone. The house was beautiful, super clean, well maintained and well appointed -- roomy but still had a cozy feel. We used the heck out of the kitchen and enjoyed many meals around the dining room table or outside.

We enjoyed hanging out on the little pier, fishing (Darn it! No bites!), paddling, and just watching the river go by. The deer roaming through the yards were enjoyable and present nearly every morning while we drank coffee outside. We also enjoyed the resident pair of ducks that would greet us all throughout the day and treat us to graceful landings on the water.

We liked using the kayaks that the house provided and the neighbor, John, was very friendly and offered up any assistance if we needed it. Little Chloe from next door was a welcome pup visitor -- she looks like a tiny Ewok from Star Wars and loves attention.

Our group had a great time and shared many laughs. Thanks for sharing your cabin and providing a wonderful place for some good memories!
